Now that I am older, I am more interested in "black powder", antiques, C&R. Back in the 90's I used to be all into those tacticool plastic firearms (AK/AR/Glock/Etc...)
Black powder bolt action rifles are fun. I have a Vetterli-Vitali M1870/87, a Gras 1866/74/80 and Steyr-Kropatschek M1886. Edit: Now I have a Mauser Gewehr 1871 also.
I was told me that since they are 100+year old guns and they are shooting old fashion bullets that they wont kill or hurt you, it was for killing the people who lived back then. Only the newer more modern ones are dangerous to us now. Is that true?
Definetly not a piece of lead flying at you no matter what it’s being propelled by, is deadly even a air gun can be deadly. Also people hunt with black powder rifles and pistols so definitely still lethal
Humans are still made of meat and bone lol Many of these old black powder guns shoot bullets heavier and faster than a lot of our modern stuff. For example, a big ol musket ball will do a lot more damage than a modern 9mm
@@theblindsniper9130 So if a big old musket bullet is more deadly then why dont the police use them against bad guys? Youre saying they were better than what the polixce are using now??
@@karrollkline2504 This would be a good video topic haha A lot of it has to do with the modern gunpowders used, making smaller bullets move much faster than old gunpowder would On top of that, in the 1940s or so countries began to see the ammo used was rather overkill and started moving to a more intermediate cartridge
@@theblindsniper9130 I dont understand. How can you overkill? You mean like "He overkilled that man"? Isnt dead, dead? How can you be deader getting shot by this, instead of that? Anyway, I think those musket bullets are probably better to use if youre in a war or something like maybe Bears or on criminals than the newer ones. I guess youre the expert on this.

Good video proving what you can do with black powder. Nice.
