You telling us to season our turkey made me laugh. I cooked a full thanksgiving dinner for my parents for the first time in years, my mother is VERY particular with her food. She likes blandddd. BLAND. She normally just buys a turkey breast and just flops it into a roasting pan and shoves it into the oven for HOURS longer than she should. My dad has become so sick to the point that I’ve needed to move home to help them and my dad has been LIVING for food. He told me I could never move out again, he’d die from starvation 😂😂. When I tell you the shock on her face as I was shoving the butter I seasoned the night before under the skin of the turkey, I mean she was SHOCKED. Browning sausage for homemade stuffing blew her mind. Cherry coke and pineapple ham actually peaked her interest though (it ended up being her favorite). Her surprise was cute when I used the turkey drippings to make homemade gravy. Everything turned out amazing. She was so surprised at how good and juicy the turkey was. Our community gave out turkey’s for the holidays for elders, our family ended up getting three of them. My mom told me I couldn’t go back to Utah until I cooked all the turkeys. When my dad finished eating his dinner he made the cutest comment. “I obviously didn’t marry your mom for her cooking ability. Musta been how pretty she is.” I love those two 😂😂. I’m so happy I could express my love and appreciation for them through food and I’m given the opportunity to do so.
I know I'm so late but just found this wonderful channel while reading this I just wanted to say that I love your comment your parents so so sweet and beautiful thank you for sharing 💛
Did you know your voice is very calming & relaxing? My health is bad. I have Systemic Lupus, a mass in my Right lung, & fractures all the way down my spine. And all this crap I have wrong with me makes going to sleep very difficult. But I set your videos up in a super long playlist. And I focus on your voice and not how bad I'm hurting. Before I know it I'm asleep. If I wake up at night I listen to you and go right back to sleep. Now don't get me wrong. I do watch your videos during daytime so I can comprehend them, but I listen at night too. I so thanks ft or hepping me get a descent nights sleep.
My mom always bought a few holiday foods every month. She would put aside can pineapple, can olives, can green beans, can cream soup, box stuffing mix, can cranberries, can mushrooms, butter, can pumpkin pie mix, etc. In November she'd buy the turkey, potatoes, and rolls. I always thought that was smart. She put it in a cardboard box and woe to anyone who took anything outta that box! 😂
A lot of people are alone this holiday season 🦃 🎄 .. For those who can: build a meal box or extra plate to share. If going to a dinner offered in the community, offer a ride ..
Great ideas. For those who don’t attend our church Christmas dinner, we plate up servings for those who are home bound or don’t want to attend church. We don’t have a Thanksgiving dinner at church, but that would be fun.
We have a neighbor who is alone every holiday, we take her meals for everything. Along with cookies and things throughout the year, just to make sure she knows shes never alone as long as we are here. (She doesn't like to leave her house, so she wont actually come over for dinners) her son visits throughout the week, to bring groceries and stuff, but she never gets to see her grandchildren. Covid had her so scared she doesnt leave her home.
Our little church pays for and delivers Thanksgiving meals to “shut ins”. (Meals on wheels doesn’t do this holiday meal). My husband and I are participating in our daughter’s Friendsgiving celebration. People that don’t have family are encouraged to attend. We are doing the turkey and dressing and corn casserole. Other people are bringing food also. It’s important to think outside the box. Although we are blessed and have big family gatherings, other people are not as fortunate. God bless everyone! I loved this video! I’m super impressed this young lady searched through her pantry and got creative. Love the homemade cream of mushroom!
I love that you are doing Thanksgiving this way! Around my house we also do what my husband calls "true " Thanksgiving.. because the first Thanksgiving they cooked what they had and were thankful. We try to do the same!
I love that practice too, although since we keep a "tiny grocery store" (a well-stocked pantry that we rotate) I don't usually have to buy anything in particular for the day except a turkey. If we couldn't get that, we'd still have turkey, because I have a bunch in jars that I've previously pressure-canned, so no worries! Do you usually have some of the "traditional" stuff?
I keep a very well-stocked food storage. So I definitely have all the supplies for the traditional foods my family eats. I always keep a turkey in my freezer. Simply because no matter how bad things get a turkey dinner always makes you feel like everything will work out and that bird will feed a large family for atleast a week! So all I really purchase is a little fresh produce and maybe a few dairy products.
I liked to buy a very big turkey for Thanksgiving and we were only 3 people and a big dog, no 12lb for my family.19-22lb. Baked my turkey in the roasting bags, those suckers were great, no basting. Do you know all the stuff you can make w those left overs. Turkey Tetrazzini, turkey pot pies, sandwiches w the turkey, sausage bread stuffing and mayo on 1 side and cranberry sauce on the other slice of bread…oh la la so yummy….Turkey Alfredo and hot turkey sandwiches and of course what my mom made was turkey w veg-all mixed w left over gravy over mashed potatoes. In the summer would do a turkey but season it w Italian spice w butter and it changes the flavor of the turkey (under the skin). Then serve it w pasta salad or potato salad, yum
I've always had a Thanksgiving open house. I buy take out boxes for meals to go and share with as many people as possible. Thanksgiving 2020 we had 32 people come by for meals to go. It was one of the best experiences ever.
God bless you, my mama always invited people over for special meals, we never knew who would be there until that day. She would do it Thanksgiving and Christmas, i would bring extra gifts for those that showed up. My mama is dead now and I miss her so. She loved to cook and share.
I’m from 🇬🇧 and I have been celebrating thanksgiving since 2020. I lost my 9 year old little boy Oliver on the 2/10/20 to leukaemia. As a distraction for them o made the decision to celebrate thanksgiving. My children and myself have had a fascination with American culture and traditions just your way of life. I try my very best to cook traditional thanksgiving dishes as some of the ingredients I cant get over here. This year my daughter helped me and she actually cooked our chicken (turkey is traditionally for Christmas over here) and her first time cooking dinner biscuits which came out beautifully. I am not a women of airs and graces. I appreciate you being so authentic because you don’t get that much on here. I will one day safe up enough money to live over in America from June all the way through to the new year to just to experience all the holidays and traditions. ❤
I love your comment! I'm American, and it really touched me what you said about celebrating Thanksgiving and the distraction for your surviving children. I shed a tear for your little boy, and I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my oldest son in early December 2021. He was about to turn 30 on Christmas Eve, so I understand exactly what you mean by 'distraction'. I hope your dream of coming to America comes true!
I have chickens and I felt the need to tell you that if your eggs float, you need to throw them out. Floating eggs means they've gone bad and you can get really sick. It's not worth it. After you cook your turkey in the crock pot, just brown it in the oven or, if you have one, use a torch on it to brown it. I garden and so I blanch and freeze my veggies and mark the ones I want "Thanksgiving Green Beans" or whatever veggie it is. My fruit pies get made late October and put in the freezer unbaked. Then I bake them frozen a couple days before Thanksgiving. The sweet potato and pumpkin pies get baked and then frozen. You can peel your potatoes several days ahead of time, but keep them in water. I buy turkey necks and make my broth ahead of time and freeze it. I try to do as much as possible ahead of time so I can enjoy the meal with everyone else. Even though I try to economize, there's no way I can make Thanksgiving dinner For $25. That's the cost of the turkey. I know my comment is almost a year late, but maybe someone can learn from it.
I was raised to cook this way by my grandmother. My husband was always amazed during the lean times how I cook feed 6 of us. I am thankful that you are showing others how easy it is just takes a few extra minutes. I am thankful for this video that I hope inspires others.
Slow cooker! What a great idea. I brine off brand turkeys. I never had a dry turkey. One year we couldn't afford additional groceries. My mother-in-law and I decided a harvest feast doesn't require a turkey. We were going to use the blessings we stored in the freezers. Three days before we cooked I got a windfall I did buy a ham and turkey. That's all I bought. When we invited cousin to sit with us or get a plate he said no until he saw fried fish on the table. He was amazed with all the food we had. That's the true blessings of the Lord.
You did a spectacular job of creating a meal using pantry items as well as a few store items. Thank you for including the home made cream of mushroom soup and French fried onions. And saving the vegetable scraps for making broth. Your creativity is awesome. “Use what you got.” Is excellent advice.
My mother taught me to make my cornbread a day or two in advance and let it sit out to dry out too. That is a lot of food, my mother passed me the holiday baton about 12 years ago and with both my parents gone now it is my 3 children, my 3 grandchildren, myself, my husband and my brother every year and sometimes we invite friends to join us. We do our meal on the Saturday after thanksgiving because my husband and I work on thanksgiving day every year doing our side hustle seasonal job. I have learned that I don’t have to make as many dishes as we used to have I can make it simplified and my family still eats a lot and is happy. We usually have turkey(of course), mashed potatoes and giblet gravy, green beans with onions and bacon, sweet potatoes(for my hubby), salad, dressing in my mother’s enamel pan just like she cooked it in, homemade rolls and pies. My oldest son likes to bring green bean casserole too. Big surprise for me is that my 23 year old son asked if he could help me this year cook the dinner!! I said of course!! He said it’s time he started learning how to cook like that and I said HALLELUJAH!! Now to get my 16 year old daughter interested in it.
We don’t have Thanksgiving in NZ. I’ve always found it fascinating what you eat at that holiday. Green bean casserole has at last been demystified! You could give any French housewife a run for her money with your flavour filled sides. Except for the garlic. I’m a European kiwi, so use lots of garlic, wine and olive oil in my cooking. That’s what I miss in yours, BUT you fill the gaps with lots of other delicious flavours. I must try some of these sides, perhaps even a whole USA thanksgiving dinner? Anyone can be a good cook with access to lots of excellent ingredients. But it takes a special cook who can produce good food, for the same people, year after year, day after day, with a very small budget and not go bonkers doing it! I really enjoy your videos. A view into real American life and culture. Thank you.😊
Tip for deviled eggs, if you have any messed up whites when you peal them add them to the yolk mix. Say you cut the egg in half and half is messed up just add it to the yolk mix. It’s adds a little more bulk to the filling without having to do much. And it still tastes amazing!! ☺️
Amazing prices down there. Good for Southern Mama for her ability to budget! A turkey here costs $50-60 for a small frozen decent one. $80-90 for a turkey to feed 20. Free range is what we usually get. Too many preservatives make a few of us ill. However, I do make it all count and last because I have enough sides and flash freeze sliced turkey and the diced turkey for many meals afterward.
Those 2 little egg whites reminded me of my mom when she made homemade biscuits she always made me a baby biscuit even when I was older till she passed I miss my mom
My mother in law used to put a spoonful of pickle juice in her deviled eggs, they were so good that is how I do it now. I got really excited when I seen potatoes on sale for 2.49 for 5 pounds at our SaveAlot, funny how we get happy over groceries these days. 🙂
It's almost that time of year again and I am rewatching this I'm sure. The thing that strikes me is how much Brayden has grown and how much more confident you are . I love everything about your videos and can't wait to see what you do this year.
You have such a great energy! I love seeing someone who cooks a lot like I was taught…by the seat of our pants! And now this 65 year old lady knows how to make fried onions! Thanks
Thanksgiving dinner is hard, yes, but that wonderful feeling you get from those that enjoy it is priceless. It does help that the cook gets to sample everything beforehand, mostly because you are too exhausted by the time it is served. Great video!
You can put your Turkey in an oven bag and put it in your oven that might be similar to the crockpot. When I make my Turkey I use a Turkey bag and I put, any leftover celery and onion into the cavity of my Turkey with a Granny Smith apple and a honeycrisp apple along with fresh Rosemary, thyme, sage and garlic. I then rub butter and all the seasonings under the skin of the Turkey and cover the Turkey with poultry seasoning. Put it in the bag and in the oven it goes. And it’s perfect every time.
My hat's off to you--that was a LOT of work in one morning. I'm 57 and disabled. My Mother (yes,...with a capital M!") is 82, and also disabled. My daughter is 23, and she does the lion's share of the Thanksgiving meal work, but we do at least half of the sides in advance. My Mother usually brings a pie and a jello salad. She wants to do more, but we wont let her now. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving everyone~
This season is my favorite, but it can be hard financially. I try to remember the point of the holidays and it isn't about money.. Company of loved ones is priceless.
Next time you make your dressing, boil the gizzards and turkey neck from the turkey with seasoning that you season the turkey and use the broth to add to your dressing and gravy, You did a great job.
You can just toss the neck and gizzard in the pan with the turkey when you roast it. When it's done you can mince them up and add to the gravy you make with the juices. No reason to make it harder on yourself. It'll be so good!
We always host thanksgiving here and invite any friends that can’t go home for Thanksgiving. My husband actually cooks most of it and I help him prep lol
I used to not be a fan of green bean casserole but many years ago a coworker brought it to a Thanksgiving spread at the office and it was amazing! She told me her Japanese grandma taught her to put soy sauce in it. Ever since then I’ve done the same. And now I’m responsible for bringing the green bean casserole every year!
If you like the Starbucks egg bite things, I would saute some veggies, and take 1 dozen eggs, a brick of soft cream cheese and 1 stick of butter and mix together and season well. Add the veggies and cheese if desired and bake in silicone molds. These freeze so well and taste amazing. And when I have a whole basket of eggs from my chickens, I use this recipe to get rid of it
Hi Brooke, What a yummy Thanksgiving Meal! Besides the traditional Southern sides and a Turkey or Ham, over the years we have done the non traditional meal fixings too, using what we had in the pantry, freezer ect! We have had Steaks, baked potatoes, salad, yeast rolls and the traditional pies, We have done homemade pizzas and salad, BBQ sandwiches, Cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, and desserts! We have had a roast with potatoes, carrots. Onions, other vegetable sides, cornbread, pies! Spaghetti, big bowls of chili with cornbread muffins or a crusty loaf of homemade bread, a salad and desserts! Had Pans of Lasagna once too or how about everyone's Mexican favorites, or stroganoff, Steaming bowls of Homemade soup, vegetable, oyster stew, claim chowder, broccoli cheddar, potato, bean with ham or bacon, or whatever is a hit with your family! Or even less expensive, make omelettes, fruit, muffins, homemade biscuits and gravy, hash browns, fried potatoes,or even, pancakes, waffles, crepes, ect with fruit, preserves topped with whipped cream! The ideas are endless and you are still having a yummy meal with the family, friends or neighbors who mean the most to you! Another cost cutter would be, the host family make the turkey, ham, or main dish and have your guests bring a side dish, beverages, breads or a dessert! Lots of variety for everyone and a good pot luck dinner for all to enjoy! It is okay to keep it simple and not be so exhausted from cooking and cleaning that you end up too tired to enjoy the peoplegathered around your table! God Bless and wishing a very Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family and your subscribers Donna NE GA mtns
My mom would always save and freeze any leftover cornbread and use that for quick cornbread dressing at thanksgiving and any time we wanted it through out the year.
Would you like to hear about an extreme Thanksgiving budget meal I made years ago? I got a Rock Cornish Game Hen. They weren't a luxury item then. It was 50 cents. I made a loaf of home made bread. And you know it I boiled 4 potatoes and made mashed tators. When it was ready I put the little hen on a "bread and butter" plate and set it in the middle of our table. My son, then young, and I sat down and we had a wonderful feast. Always remember, it's the love at the table that matters. We had a better holiday than our neighbor who had everything.
I love all of your videos so helpful. I have a family of 5 also. And 2 years ago I canceled all holidays at my house because everyone would come here and I cooked everything it’s stressful. So now I go to other family houses. I bring a dish of course. You’re doing an amazing job!! Again thank you and your family.
I add mashed potatoes with dried bread crumbs .onion , summer savoury , poultry seasoning , celery salt stuff in turkey . I always make it the day before I put in the fridge
If produce is priced for your customers to afford I'm sure there's far less waste because people are buying it. Days of $0.99 for a 5# bag, on sale, are long gone now. We're paying triple those prices here in 2024. Still, a shared meal with family and friends 🧡 is the best.
A lot of work does indeed go into Thanksgiving Dinner preparations. I never thought about it till awhile back of all the work my Mom put into Thanksgiving preparations, then get up early to go black Friday Christmas shopping. On Saturday go shopping again, then the rest of the day get cakes baked decorated, jello made towards Sunday's big birthday dinner. After everything Mom is bound to been super tired. But, yet she seemed to enjoyed everything.
You cooked enough for an army! I will be there next year and bring pies and mac and cheese. Love your videos because you would fit in my family just fine! Love love love you sister!
Next time you make dressing/stuffing add your onions and celery to your cornbread batter and bake into the cornbread! Saves a little time on the day you are prepping all your other food.
Thanksgiving is already on my radar. I have cooked the entire meal for the entire family (30-40) people for close to 40 years. My in-laws expect me to get from Michigan to Texas and get it done🤣. I’m just glad my grown kids know my recipes and I delegate more to them now.
I make all my sides in CrockPots with liners for easier cleanup. Mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and my stuffing. The Turkey gets rinsed, dried, seasoned with salt and pepper, buttered and then covered in a bacon lattice blanket. A half onion and a couple carrots go in the turkey.... the bacon keeps it moist in the oven and you don't have to baste it. Turkey Bacon gravey is BOMB! I've stocked specifically for Thanksgiving and Christmas already. Then again, I also did Easter and St. Patrick's Day.
make mini omelettes, muffins, mcmuffin eggs, egg sausage cheese potato breakfast burritos and pop them in the freezer for breakfasts egg salad or boiled eggs for lunch or snacks.
Hi Brooke this is Sue, Keep your yeast in the freezer even packs, it prolongs the life of your yeast., Also, big money saver is, that, l noticed you had juice boxes in your fridge, what l did with my boys, is l bought a couple of those square juice containers with the fold down top with a straw, and l would buy cans of juice from the freezer, eg OJ, Minute Maid etc, and fill them up, way more juice than the boxes, and there is really no waste except the juice can container, compaired to all the boxes going into the recycling. Just a money saving thought,
For the dressing/Stuffing. my granny taught me use one can cream of celery and one can cream of chicken. Sauteed onions, three boiled eggs chopped. sage poultry seasoning salt an pepper. Mix in uour cornbread put in casserole dish add i cut broth bake until golden brown. So so good.. happy holidays. I love your videos☃️🎄🙏🕊️♥️
You did an amazing job for you & your family. I just found your channel this week, Sept, 2023!! I am from New Orleans & we love to cook. You have such a bubbly personality & a beautiful family ❤️❤️
I love your tips! I learned to cook this way! I get some wonderful ideas from you, and then I get more ideas from the absolute angels who comment on your videos! It’s a total win win! ❤️
Brooke: I hope that makes sense. Me: Shaking my head - yep Brooke that does make sense. I get it. Then Brooke: Thanksgiving dinner is hard. Me: You said it, I'm tired just watching you and I'm double tired thinking of the cooking I have to do. I love the way you keep is real and simple.
What in the do it yourself is going on! You’re videos normally impress me, but this really did! I never would’ve thought to make my own French fried onions. You definitely inspire me, thank you for this video!!
Tip, if your mashed potatoes are to wet( it happens)sprinkle in some instant mashed, the instant potatoes absorb the extramoisture. Lumpy gravey, a immersion blender if you have one removes those lumps. I try to find bargain apple cider, a little cinnamon , step of maple flavoring and a bit of sugar, let it get hot in your crock pot, not onlY will you have a fantastic hot beverage but your home will smell.ofplles and cinnamon.
Good afternoon angel girl 😇 God bless your heart ❤️💜!!! You have worked so hard on your Thanksgiving dinner!!!!! I'm 74 and I live alone. I used to always cook the meals for my mom and family and for many people!! Now I am completely alone. But sweetie, you have really made my day 😇 I have laughed at you!!! And, everything looks so delicious 😋🤤🤤😋. I would love to have been there myself to!!! I know what you mean by it being a lot of work!! It is! But I know that you really enjoyed it, just like I used to!!! God bless you and your family. Have a blessed day sweetie 🥰😘 love you guys 🥰🥰😇
Happy Thanksgiving to you, @Erica Stout. Just hubs and me this year. I'm taking a couple slices of turkey from the deli (only purchase for T-Day this year) making a package stuffing I have on hand, using home canned green beans and home canned Cranberry sauce and turkey gravy I made...rolling the sides up in the deli turkey (burrito style) and covering with the gravy to bake. I saw it on another TH-cam video for leftovers. But I'm having surgery a week before, so we are choosing it for our meal. Whatever you choose for yourself, I hope your day is greatly blessed.
The days, 73 with RA, Fibromyalgia, and a bad back, I cook my turkey the day before in a roasting bag. Like your crockpot turkey, not pretty but juicy and delicious. I cool it down a little, have hubby slice it, and lay it back in the roasting pan and cover with broth, which is a trick I saw on TH-cam that keeps the turkey from tasting "leftover". Day of, I heat it up just enough to make it hot and serve. Everyone loves it! Doing the same with a small ham. This year my oldest daughter is bring dressing, gravy, sweet potato casserole and my youngest daughter is bringing desert. I'll make the rolls using frozen roll dough. And I'll make a green been casserole because my son loves it. He's just bringing himself which is all I wanted because I haven't seen him in months.
Thank you Brooke for making a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I watch a lot of the $20 dollar tree dinners they are fun to see what people come up with but I find it hard to consider turkey or ham lunchmeat as a traditional Thanksgiving meal. I do Thanksgiving like you I cook a ham and my mom makes the turkey and stuffing. I make the rest of the sides mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, Mac n cheese, corn, cranberry sauce, rolls, and ambrosia. Dessert my daughter wants to make a couple of pies and my mom was going to make a dessert so I think we have dinner covered I start picking up an item here and an item there for many weeks before Thanksgiving that way I am not trying to pick it all up on Thanksgiving. Great job Brooke!
Brooke I love that you take advantage of what you have available when preparing your recipes. I will be making my own cream of mushroom soup thanks to you. Your meal looks yummy and you have lots of food for everyone. Great job.
I just came across you channel for the first time, and gurl I love you. You are my new fave friend in my head. Sending love from NYC. Tell em gurl please season your food..
I watched this 4 months ago and again today. I have watched a lot of your videos since this one, and I must tell you this. Without a doubt, this is my favorite video of yours. I watched your Easter one recently, and that's a close 2nd. This makes perfect sense in shopping from your pantry etc. For these larger meals/family functions. And, by the way, your turkey looked delicious 😊
Thanks for the tip i did not know you could cook a turkey in a crock pot. If it taste good as you said Brooke thats what matters. 😅your Thanksgiving dinner looks wonderful!❤
I loved this. It's something I think is missing from the budget holiday challenge menus so many people do. Everyone ends up with close to the same thing because they are all shopping with the same budget at the same places and there are only so many ways to rearrange that.
You really surprised me with the 20.00 budget dollar store thanksgiving! You did a great job!!! People need to see your videos that live on a low income. What a blessing you are!!!! So many are in need. ❤
Chile you are a women of my heart Turkey in a crockpot I will try it I love your simple down to the REAL life cooking on a REAL life hard working people on a REAL life budget Thank you God bless you
My oven broke during the pandemic and we couldn't get a repair person to look at it and we couldn't buy a new one because of supply chain issues. I cooked our turkey in the crockpot out out necessity. My family said it was the best one ever! You are right about it not being pretty, but it is delicious and so tender and juicy! I did have to put foil around the gap as well, but it worked! Your dinner looked amazing! Good job Brooke!
People need to know how to make quality food without spending a fortune. I saw you whip out that bacon and beans yourself and make your own mushroom soup. I am very impressed. Oh oh, before I forget, my Pap passed way 13yrs back, I haven't seen anyone hold an onion while holding it in their hand since then! I cried, that was a memory so precious to me! Thanks for your video, I loved, it!!! Bless you!
Girl you have a reason to be tired. You took no short cuts in Oder to save money It all looked so yummy And by the way your turkey was pretty I will cook mine in the crock pot from now on Never saw turkey cooked that way before
I don't think my mom and grandma knew what a cutting board was. They always held the veg in their hand and cut it with a paring knife. You are right, it is a sweet memory.
I love how excited you get! I just started watching your videos this week, and I have to say I can't get enough of you and your family. God bless you guys and keep doing what you're doing! I believe it's Gods calling for you.
The only thing missing that my bunch would cry for is cranberry sauce. I even buy it ahead of time, so I never forget it again. I forgot it once, and after ALL the cooking I did, and everything tasted wonderful, the only negative comment was, where is the cranberry sauce! Not kidding! 😢
Deviled eggs are a MUST at all our big family get together meals… my mama was the one who always made them … now my daughter makes them and uses her recipe… sure miss her at the table … daddy too… Hope all your meals this holiday season is delicious and full of love!! ❤️
I always cook our family dinners and my family comes here then I send them home with leftovers. My BIL hates the texture of onions so I puree them in whatever requires onions. I love watching you cook it's very similar to how I do holiday meals. Big hugs and God Bless
Man I really enjoy how you make things out what you've got. Those fried onions were genius. And I'd never dreamed of making my own creamed corn! But now I'm all over this! Thank you!
I made your poor man's chocolate poke cake Sunday night. WOW! Super easy. They loved it. It's all gone. It's a keeper. This family LOVES deviled eggs. My brother grabs one every time he walks by the plate.I tell everybody their spice cabinet is their friend. Don't be shy! SUPER MOM! Love the way you think.
Musta been how pretty she is.”
I love those two 😂😂. I’m so happy I could express my love and appreciation for them through food and I’m given the opportunity to do so.
Omg that’s so cute.
I know I'm so late but just found this wonderful channel while reading this I just wanted to say that I love your comment your parents so so sweet and beautiful thank you for sharing 💛
I'm a l so frim Tennessee near Chattenooga. I wonder what town she is from???
Sweet story!!
Aww! 🙏 for you!
May Jesus Christ bless and heal your body in the Holy name if Jesus Amen and Amen 🙏 ❤
❤ to you... that sounds so hard, and I agree about Brooke having a soothing voice. ❤
Bless you! 2:00
Love it, your mom planning. My mom did exact same❤.
@@hbennett5640 mine too
Beautiful memories 🍂🦃🍁 Happy Thanksgiving to all
That is so wholesome ❤
A lot of people are alone this holiday season 🦃 🎄 .. For those who can: build a meal box or extra plate to share. If going to a dinner offered in the community, offer a ride ..
Great ideas. For those who don’t attend our church Christmas dinner, we plate up servings for those who are home bound or don’t want to attend church. We don’t have a Thanksgiving dinner at church, but that would be fun.
I love this!
Yeah, and some of us work all the holidays. I used to cook up a storm; now I pretend it's not a holiday, just any ordinary day.
I love that you are doing Thanksgiving this way! Around my house we also do what my husband calls "true " Thanksgiving.. because the first Thanksgiving they cooked what they had and were thankful. We try to do the same!
I LOVE this!
That is so true!
You are a lovely person❤.
My heart goes out to you Sending Love Hugs and Prayers. Happy Thanksgiving
When you made your own crispy fried onions for the green bean casserole topping, I was like, "oh, she serious!!" Looks deliciously homemade
Those onions 🔥 mmm looked delish, that casserole and everything looked scrumptious, all from scratch tastes so much better!!
That was super impressive! She did a lot of work to put out that wonderful meal for her family.
What did you put on the turkey?
Nevermind. I just saw it. Everything looks great.
I said the same thing! "She's serious 'bout this!" The crockpot turkey blew me away!😋😋🤤🤤
That’s a great idea!
Yes!
I just eat them
@@melissavazquez2953 I like the way you think 😂
Thanks for the tip 🌷
Amazing prices down there. Good for Southern Mama for her ability to budget! A turkey here costs $50-60 for a small frozen decent one. $80-90 for a turkey to feed 20. Free range is what we usually get. Too many preservatives make a few of us ill. However, I do make it all count and last because I have enough sides and flash freeze sliced turkey and the diced turkey for many meals afterward.
Those 2 little egg whites reminded me of my mom when she made homemade biscuits she always made me a baby biscuit even when I was older till she passed I miss my mom
I call those “God” moments. Love that you do whatever you want and don’t follow the norm. That’s how I found your channel and that’s why I love it.
My mother in law used to put a spoonful of pickle juice in her deviled eggs, they were so good that is how I do it now. I got really excited when I seen potatoes on sale for 2.49 for 5 pounds at our SaveAlot, funny how we get happy over groceries these days. 🙂
I got potatoes this week two 5# bags for $4. So 8# for $4. I was so tickled!!!
Pickle juice, cool! I use a little horseradish in my deviled eggs, delicious❤.
The small town I live in every year a pizza places gives free turkey dinners to anyone who needs one they'll even deliver so nice
U and your mom could do the chopping sitting down I'm sure that would help your daughter out a lot! 😊
Happy Thanksgiving @KeDe Glow!
Happy Thanksgiving to your family!
We call it "shopping at home" ! Always see what's available at home before going shopping. You did an excellent job of demonstrating just that!!!
This season is my favorite, but it can be hard financially. I try to remember the point of the holidays and it isn't about money.. Company of loved ones is priceless.
Next time you make your dressing, boil the gizzards and turkey neck from the turkey with seasoning that you season the turkey and use the broth to add to your dressing and gravy,
You did a great job.
That’s the way my mom did it. ☺️
You can just toss the neck and gizzard in the pan with the turkey when you roast it.
When it's done you can mince them up and add to the gravy you make with the juices.
No reason to make it harder on yourself.
It'll be so good!
Wow, what an amazing dinner! Can’t believe you put that together for the cost, absolutely brilliant. Hope you had a rest after 😁
Brooke, you're so much fun! 😂 Love your personality & content. Thank you!
Happy (coming up) Thanksgiving! 🍗 🙏
How much soy sauce
I put water chestnuts and fresh mushrooms in mine.
@@angelarothbauer8096 2 T for a single batch. But I usually make a double batch because it’s so good!
The original recipe actually had soy sauce in it! My grandma used to have the very first recipe taped inside a cupboard in her kitchen.
Do you still put cream of mushroom with the soy sauce.?
What a GREAT spread!!!! YUM!! Blessings to you and your wonderful family...
And when I have a whole basket of eggs from my chickens, I use this recipe to get rid of it
Me too!! Love these and uses up stuff you want to get rid of.. so convenient too!!
Thanksgiving dinner is a lot of work!!! Now I have 3 grown daughters who help with it and we have so much fun making it together now!!!
Excellent menu! 10 people for $22 is frugal. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
My Mother & my Mother-in-law always made Corn Bread & Biscuits to go in their Dressing. They both made the most moist & delicious Dressing.
I add mashed potatoes with dried bread crumbs .onion , summer savoury , poultry seasoning , celery salt stuff in turkey . I always make it the day before I put in the fridge
That was absolutely amazing, reminded me of my childhood. I love you guys. God bless you and I hope you have a wonderful holiday
I work at a grocery store and we have a 10 pound bag for 99 cents. Yup crazy we are known for the best produce in town.
Gardens are a blessing .75 0/0 of our thanksgiving dinner came from ours.
Hi Brooke this is Sue, Keep your yeast in the freezer even packs, it prolongs the life of your yeast.,
Also, big money saver is, that, l noticed you had juice boxes in your fridge, what l did with my boys, is l bought a couple of those square juice containers with the fold down top with a straw, and l would buy cans of juice from the freezer, eg OJ, Minute Maid etc, and fill them up, way more juice than the boxes, and there is really no waste except the juice can container, compaired to all the boxes going into the recycling. Just a money saving thought,
That’s the best thanksgiving turkey I’ve ever seen honestly
I love watching your cooking videos. I didn't realize cream of soup was so simple!
Thank you, hubby and I have 9 children and we will be hosting 35 for dinner. A well stocked pantry is the way to go!
Hint for you with celery. Remove it from the bag it comes in. Wrap it in foil and it will be protected from the cold in the fridge and last longer,
What in the do it yourself is going on! You’re videos normally impress me, but this really did! I never would’ve thought to make my own French fried onions. You definitely inspire me, thank you for this video!!
You can beat the eggs like you would for scrambling and then freeze them. I do 4 at a time in a freezer bag. Some people freeze them in ice trays.
You are such a breath of fresh air. I laugh when you laugh. Makes my heart smile.
I just love you 😂you’re so down to earth and humble, never change the way you are ☺️💕
That banana poke cake looked delicious! Great video!
Banana pudding poke cake has been my go to dessert for Thanksgiving for the last several years
Simply saying “Thank you “ for the inspiration and love. 😊
You are so cheery in the way you speak and just go from one job to the next. Awesome meal!
I love this! We have most of this, but we do make yams and squash casserole.
Your family is so sweet. It makes all the work worthwhile when you see those smiles.
Brooke
I love that you take advantage of what you have available when preparing your recipes.
Thank y'all for sharing this video and God Bless y'all and Happy Thanksgiving 🦃.. Love it 🙏 Prayers for all of us 💕
You are SUPER ! Thank you for taking such good care of your family...I know those kiddos know how special you are...
This looks fantastic and delicious!!! Girl that is all homemade and full of love!! So wonderful! ❤❤❤
What if you browned the turkey in the oven and then transfer to the crock pot?
I put mine in a turkey bag in the crockpot tastes delicious
Love to watch you cook. I get such good ideas from you and you are sweet momma! Thanks girl!!
Bless you!
I’m so glad I brought back a good memory for you! It’s the simple things in life! You have a great day!! Thank you for your kindness 💜
Gotta have pickle relish in my egg topping, lol😂.
I was glad to see you so excited about the price of your potatoes. I got 5# for $1.99 and I did the happy dance when I got home!
I love how excited you get! I just started watching your videos this week, and I have to say I can't get enough of you and your family. God bless you guys and keep doing what you're doing! I believe it's Gods calling for you.
The turkey looked gorgeous to me from the crockpot! Great job!
You did such a good job, and your hard work paid off! Bet your family had a satisfying nap after that meal!
Girl you done a great job. Everything looks so good!❤
The only thing missing that my bunch would cry for is cranberry sauce.
Thank you!
My husband dreads creamed corn because he saw the rats at the factory. This is ideal to make creamed corn!
Thank you for doing a frugal Thanksgiving 🦃 feast. It definitely can be done.
I love that you have so many vegetables. They look delicious. THANKS!!! Love you guys.❤ Happy Thanksgiving
That Turkey looks amazing!! It’s looks so juicy! I literally watch your thanksgiving videos over and over again year after year!!
