Can I make a suggestion? If you have not done it already, compile all your own recipes into one location by going back to your videos, copy and pasting them from there into a document. One day you can then organize them into a cookbook, have it published, and sell it right here "in the description below". Just an idea. You create some really budget friendly and good meals that SHOULD be in a cook book somewhere! Just sayin' gf.
I have raised 7 kids. Let me tell you, it made me cry watching your boys review your meals. They are absolutely precious. Don’t for a minute underestimate what you have done there, doll. It’s rare and worthy of praise. Also, thank you for making these videos which are so helpful and inspiring for those of us who might be struggling to get by.
That's what I came here to say. Those boys were so sweet to go along with her experiment and be so gracious about it. Her husband could use a little more enthusiasm. 😂
OMGosh! I love this video so much for so many reasons! First of all, your family is PRECIOUS!!!! Secondly, you rock in that kitchen! I raised 5 children and where was your channel when I really needed you? My mom laughs when she says I can’t boil water. I don’t find that very funny. I absolutely CAN cook anything with a recipe. Where I completely lack is working miracles like you clearly are a master at. My family would never have eaten that soup for any meal. But I so honor yours for loving it! I’m a new subscriber as of today and can not wait to dive into your other videos. I hope you never stop showing us your creative and inexpensive way of feeding our families! Something from nothing cooking is where it’s at. I’m so impressed! Thank you!
Dont let anyone put beans down, they are are high in protein as well meat! My mother lived through the Depression eating beans. You are an amazing cook, with a great imagination and on a budget too! Quite an accomplishment these days!❤
I'm actually allergic to beans so I'm glad she did the no bean version. But I wouldn't care if she did a bean version I just exclude it myself since I know I'm allergic.
My grandson will not eat any kind of bean so I love beans and this is a problem for me sometimes. Often dual meals are not an option. Thanks for a no bean list of foods.❤
I don't know why you get negative comments. Good grief woman, you are turning out good food on a dime and some people still aren't happy. Yes, we all have different tastes but I'll tell you what Brooke, I'd eat at your house any day of the week. Thank you for sharing xx
I can literally name on my two hands how many times I have been impressed with someone cooking on TH-cam You have earned my respect and subscription! Amazing!
I rarely comment anything because I’m super awkward but I just wanted to say how grateful I am to have found your channel, it’s so refreshing to find budget food videos that come from a place of understanding and support rather than an excuse to flex

I love feeding boys. They are always so appreciative. My boys turned out to be 6’ 2” each. I had two boys and 5 girls plus my husband and myself. My children were all spread out and it was in two marriages….one for 17 years and this one is coming up on 41 years. I started making my own bread in high school…I graduated in 1965 at 17. I started buying wheat in bulk and started grinding the wheat for flour. I love baking.
I loved your video. As a 67 yr old retiree, I use my ingredients to last longer like use an apple in three recipes, getting the most out of my produce. I tend to forget I have honey and brown sugar and such. Have my own hen eggs and get free bread when I volunteer at a thrift shop in town. You give me great ideas for meals. Bless y’all from Texas.
You’re an amazing “Domestic Engineer “and I’m grateful to have found your channel! I hope you do decide to compile all of your recipes into a “Southern Frugal Momma Cooking “ cookbook! You and your entire family are an absolute blessing to myself and many others. Lord bless you, your family and everyone connected to y’all , in the name of Jesus. Blessings! 🥰
I really appreciate you, your family, and your videos! We desperately need this kind of realness & kindness these days! I mean no harnful words to the channels with very large families that show grocery hauls, and I'm truly happy they can spend over $1,000 at each haul, but it also makes it very unrealistic. I have been a very frugal shopper, since I was out on my own at 16 yrs old, which was 32 years ago. I've watched our economy rise & fall several times, and I consistently bought frugally. I have been the everyday cook for my parents starting at age 12, and had custody of my sister by 16. Then started my family, and cooked for my husband's family & my family along with my kids & us. If I hadn't kept a stocked pantry & freezer full from sale items, that could've never happened. Now, at almost 48, my sister is out on her own, and all of our parents have passed so I cook for just the 3 of us daily. But I do cook for every holiday for, at least, 5 to 10 people. With this inflation being the worst I've seen in years, your videos are imperative!!!! Most people are in similar shoes. They make too much money to get state help with food, but don't make enough to pay these booming rent, mortgage, utilities, gasoline & food costs. In my life now, and the last 2 years, I ended up getting cancer again. So for us, it's pay for my treatment or buy groceries. So we rely on food pantries now. Even though, I have my Master's, that doesn't help this. We have gone without Christmas gifts for 3 years, including this one coming up, and it's allowed me to understand my faith, patience, and gratitude more. My young teenaged daughter hasn't asked for anything this entire time, so when I see you normalize struggle meals ,and frugality, it makes me so overjoyed! It took me awhile, even though I've always been frugal, to not be hard on myself for the struggle we've had. I'd be lying if I said that it's still not a struggle, but you help keep my heart & mind clear to understand that I'm more than what I can give financially! We all are worth so very much! Never once do I look back, and say, "wow, I love my husband because he bought me something!" And every single day my daughter thanks me for cooking for our family (so does my hubby), and it overjoys me to know we have children that will soon be adults that have compassion because people like you are teaching this. Sorry this was so long! I felt compelled to write you! ❤ Thank you again! ❤
Hello my friend. All cancer is caused by a parasite infection. The wealthiest elite do not take the same treatment for cancer that us normal folks pay big bucks for. Do with that information what you will.
The potatoes and meat dish at the beginning is called stovies in Scotland. Traditionally it's made with leftover meat or bones as you did, potato and and veg left in the house. Now people make it with square slices sausages. You've totally reminded me of my grandmother making it and put me in the mood to make it this week!
I’m a Scottish Evan/pat living in Switzerland. When I make Stovies it is much thicker. I now use dried potatoes ( forget Smash!). With butter and salt, delicious . I use corned beef. If I was in Scotland I would but a few slices, here I use canned. If I remember I add fried onion. That’s it.
You'd be in Heaven at my local grocery store. Potatoes are $0.97 for a 5lb bag, banana's are 3lbs for $1, apples are 5 for $1. I could go on and on about the produce prices but it's just amazing how much I'm able to get with my tiny budget. Great video!
you are very fortunate…it’s crazy expensive in all my stores. i shop like brooke and look for mark downs. i’ve found if you go when they open, the butcher has started marking down yesterdays fresh stuff
Sounds like my store in L, Tx. They had chops for $1.88 lb & we stocked up. Often they have boneless & skinless chicken breasts for .99-1.79 lb! Heads of cabbage were .69 this past wk also.
Brooke, you are definitely channeling my Mama. She passed in 2009 and I miss her beyond belief. She was 73. She and my Daddy lived in Florida my entire life, but I moved to Ohio in 1990. I got to visit them only 3 times before she passed and Daddy passed in May of 2022 at 93 years old. We grew up poor, but we were loved and we never went hungry. She cooked a lot like you, but didn't have many kitchen tools except her hands and cast iron pans. Daddy worked really hard, but didn't make a lot of money. When I had kids I was blessed with her knowledge and skills. The woman was a genius with the small food budget she had. Thank God for parents that loved us and took care of us. Thank you for bringing back the memories of them.
I live alone on a fixed income and elderly and in a wheelchair and and can't stand. Thank you for giving me cheap ideas for meals that I can make easily. I, too have picked through the veg medley and stretched it for different meals! I did not grow up really poor but I had some lean times raising a child alone...he's 50 now, and I am having some lean times now that grocery prices are through the roof! So, I am frugal like you! Love from South Louisiana (a new Subscriber too!) Keep on making videos like this bc I shop AND cook like you do! I have cooked sooooo many meals like you....I see myself in YOU! God Bless!
Brooke you do amazing , both shopping and preparing delicious meals. Please ignore the bots that complain about the most ridiculous things. If they don't like how you do things why are they watching your wonderful channel? Most of us viewers love what you do! YOU DO YOU.I will keep watching and sharing .Ty for sharing...
Now I want to make a suggestion? Brook “STOP Apologizing so much”… you’ve helped so many families and individuals… there are some people in the world who will try to gettcha down but don’t let them steal away your joy and the good you are doing…. Some may criticize about whatever just because they can, but you have so many (including ME) that truly enjoy, appreciative, and are grateful for you, your family, and what you’ll doing…
Yes I've been loving whenever she shows them. The youngest one falling down as a thumbs up is hysterical and the older ones just seem nice, like the whole family would be fun to talk to.
@@Kneekneee I would if I could but my 17 year old isn’t allowed to have spicy foods. It always makes his IBD act up. And my youngest two still has sensitive tongues. One day they’ll be big brave girls and eat something with a bite, but it won’t be any time soon I’m afraid. The rest of us would love it though.
I'm always happy to see a no-beans video. Legumes give me horrible migraines. When I'm watching a beans-based episode, I always mentally substitute the cheapest meat I have available, but it is relaxing not to have to do it!
Out of all the taste testing I only ever trust Kylen! I've seen him eat survival meals so I know he tells the truth and unless he faints I won't trust it! Thank you Kylen x
I was just going to say the same thing. No offense against Brooke but when you stand there with praying hands the older ones know it would hurt your feelings if they said they didn't like it. I think Kylen is still young enough to tell you if he didn't really like it.
@@sandrasewell1756 You can tell when the older boys REALLY LOVE something too. There was some episode a week or so ago where Brooke was trying to film and Ryder was hovering and sneaking his fork in to get more, and more, and more. "Can't wait till the camera's off for more" is a sure sign.
This video deserves an AWARD ! The meals you made were delicious looking and reminded me of the types of foods I was raised on . I’m on a very strict budget and this will be a full menu for me ❤ Thank you so much !!
From your comments, it sounds like you’re getting a lot of shade from viewers. If people are unable to understand that it’s not going to be personally catered to their exact families specifications, then they can stuff it. I think that you are providing many practical ideas and taking people’s suggestions, such as the one about the beans, into your later videos. You can’t please everybody. I think you’re doing a great job. Keep it up girl.
Nice attitude ! People " can stuff it"? Well, if she doesn't do varied ideas, those who don't eat beans , etc, will say " stuff it" to these Vlogs and stop watching. Pretty sure Brooke will love that 😡.
@@jacqueline8559Look up the word substitute. Use it in a sentence. Here, I'll go first... Jacqueline is irrationally upset about someone using beans to feed her family and is in the process of learning how to substitute beans for food she likes instead. You're welcome. Hope you learned something!
It makes me sad when someone doesn't like beans. They are so so so wonderful and yummy and versatile and affordable. I know it's not eveyones thing but I couldn't do without them! so good!
I have a medical reason I can't eat them but I don't demand she not use them. Same as if I don't like them, I'm not Karen enough to demand she not use them geeezzzz
Lay month I made a pot of Navy Beans with frozen ham pieces and bone from Christmas. It was so delicious. I ate it for 3 days and canned 4 pints from it.
I just did your $40 budget. I fed 3 adults for 1 week. Even made a desert that they 2 different night. Found a 6 lb chicken for $6.32 and a package of pork chops for $4.32. We ate well. Love how you think.
In todays economy $25 buys very little. However, you sure know how to utilize what you bought in the best ways. I’m so impressed!! God bless you and family.
I have three chickens that ‘free range’ my back yard at times. They have, however, learned to use the dog’s door into my house, so their free range times will be limited to when the dog door is shut. Lol. Love your videos and seeing your well mannered, handsome children. You are SO smart!!!
Lol that's awesome! I put a dog door (the flap kind, not the hard plastic) on my coop back when I had chickens. They never took to it so I had to switch it out.
When I worked at a day care many years ago my boss would make neck bone and potatoes for the kids and they would eat it up. Thanks for another wonderful video.
Kudos to you, for making 50 meals for $25! Your sons are precious; and I so enjoyed your creativity! This was my first time watching your channel and I’m sure going to try some of your recipes! Thank you, SO much for helping us all stretch our meager food budgets to a new level of YUM!
Brooke, no need to apologize for how you feed your family. All household have different preferences. You are giving great suggestions that can be adapted to every family's likes. Do what you do, don't worry about how your likes are viewed. You are doing great, and showing solid, well planned suggestions, except for the create as you go recipe (many aren't as creative), to stretch a budget. Rock on, girl! Great video!
Cooking on the fly..... I'm a 60 year young great grandma and I raised 4 children quite frugally, quite often with whatever I had available, hence, on the fly.... I learned whilst growing up how to make great tasting meals this way... Think outside the box, many of our favorite meals didn't come from a pte-determined recipe. Kudos to you Mom 🎉🎉
I learned to cook from my dad. I cook a lot like you do... I make meals up as I go along depending on what I have. I really like your budget meal ideas. When your grocery budget is tight or your pantry and fridge is sparse, knowing how to put a meal together for your family is a must. Getting creative with anything you have left is a skill many need these days. There's no shame in learning to feed you family from whatever you can. Something in the tummy is so much better than nothing. During the pandemic, we got food bags from the school. Those included a breakfast and lunch per child. I had just 1 child along with 4 adults to feed. Those food bags from school helped me feed all 5 of us with enough for our munchkin to have snacks as well. So many parents are stressed enough just trying to get from 1 paycheck to the next. I hope that everyone who has access to your videos can share your ideas with others. And parents, PLEASE never be ashamed to go to food pantries, churches, blessing boxes or anywhere you need to get food for your family. If you are a family who is blessed to have more than you need, please help others. At some point, any if us can be in need.
I love that you cook realistic home cooked meals using common foods so many of us have or can get! This is how a huge % of all of us eat- nothing fancy, just simple, flavorful and easy- thank you for keeping it real and just being you, also thanks to your family for helping you out 😁👍❤️
Brook, I love your recipes! Our current culture eats entirely too much animal protein. Before the dawn of the 20th and 21st centuries, animal protein was used as the side dish. Most folks couldn't afford to put meat on the table every night for dinner. Being raised by country parents there were many evening meals consisting of veggies and veggies proteins like beans. One of our favorite meals were Shelley beans cooked with new potatoes, corn bread and fried apples. Food snobs are everywhere. You just keep making your recipes. Most of us love them!
When I was growing up, we ate pinto beans and potatoes one day and potatoes and pinto beans the next day----meat was a rarity. I'm getting close to being 80 years old and still love pinto beans! We all survived. This woman is wonderful and her family is blessed to have her. Blessings to you!
I just needed to say that you and I look a lot alike. I'm now 77 years old but in my late 40s , early 50s we could have been mistaken for sisters. Love your cooking style. Used to make homemade bread of some kind everyday. Not anymore. Too old and weak. But my cooking is missed by a lot of kinfolks. Thanks for the memories.
Don’t change ANYTHING! Please sweetheart. We are southerners and I love beans. They can leave them out or go watch another cooking video without beans. I just love you and your family! I’m old enough to be your mom but you have taught me a couple things I didn’t know. 🤗♥️
Please send him to culinary school. My son was never an academic, but he loved food and loved to cook. I sent him to culinary school in San Francisco. He has worked in many exotic locations all over the world. He has become very confident and happy. He's constantly living on fulfilling his next dream! I'm so proud of him!
@@abou8963 No one should try to feed a family for less if they can help it. The mark of a real provider is feeding their family with high quality, nutrient dense foods.
Hello. I am a married woman with 2 in my home. I have so enjoyed cooking then I found your channel. First let me say how much I admire you. You are an outstanding wife and mother. I understand about mental health and how much it affects an everyday life. I don’t read comments because I’m not that interested in it, but I want you to know how much I have learned from you. This very minute I have my washed and sorted white beans in my slow cooker. Along with those beans is the pork from Walmart that is in the package and such an excellent deal. I also bought cornmeal for the bread in the cast iron. I love your family but I think your middle son is darling. Keep up the good work.
Tater Tip: Add salt to your water when soaking potatoes (a good amount of salt, similar to how much you would add to boil noodles). Your taste buds will thank you.
I'm in Michigan and we have Kroger, they always have reduced produce bundled in a bag for $1. Apples, oranges, potatoes, bell peppers. Keep an eye out😉
Chitter them taters and grow your own. It is so easy and no weighing is needed! The price you had to pay for two potatoes is crazy!! Love your channel!!! You have my absolute respect as a 58 year old lady who has 50 years of southern cooking experience under my belt. I am delighted to have you teach me a thing or two! ❤
I have tried and LOVED so many of your meals. I grew up food insecure, and am not in that place now, but still love the ideas you give. I am still amazed that at the end of one of your challenges, you basically had a couple cups of flour and made biscuits and gravy. Your mind works in such an amazing way to make meals out of literally almost nothing. You are an amazing resource for humanity.
I am raising my grandsons and out of 6 family members I'm the only female here . I have a couple of picky eaters to but with all the inexpensive and easy to make meals you make, i can always find something everyone will love. Your awesome and I absolutely love the real reactions of your boys/men. Keep up the great work.❤
Growing up, my favorite cheap meal was pork chops with boiled potatoes browned in the drippings! Its still a favorite. You are the queen of frugal and i love your channel and your family!
I think u done amazing for $25, u got meats, chicken, veggies, flour!! This is so much better than most budget videos I seen where its beans every other day with no meat/chicken in sight. U were very clever frying up your chicken making the protein sizes bigger and more filling that way. I think its so important to have a protein source every day.
Hey Brooke!! The last dinner, one you made up as you went, would be what my mom would call a "Happy Accident" and then write it down so she wouldn't forget how she made it. I'm willingly to bet that's how alot of family recipes start out too. Great Job on working w/o beans this go round. ☺️
It amazes me how you can fill those plates so healthy full and yummy for growing boys and a hard-working husband. It's beautiful how authentically appreciative they all are - every single time! I just LOVE your family.
The boys are growing up so fast!! I am going to miss it so much when Kylan quits passing out!! Sorry if I spelled his name wrong. He's adorable, I am enjoying watching them all grow!!
I love your videos and am always recommending them! I wanted to comment about the potato peelings because you mentioned about making them for a snack later. I will soak the peals in salted water for 5 minutes or so to get any small dirt that I may have missed. Then, empty the water and lay them out on a towel and pat dry. Add to bowl with a little oil, salt and pepper. Put in an air fryer until nice and crispy! My family loves them!
I love how you show every step of what needs to be done when cooking these meals. I have never pounded chicken breasts thin before and it always bugged me to eat them so thick. I appreciated you showing how to make the breasts thin and I can now do this myself next time I cook chicken breasts. Thanks!!
OMG, that neckbone meal! You have inspired me to try out a cut I would never have thought of! That meal is so nutritious, with all the bone broth goodness! Not only frugal but nutritious and healthy for you and your littles too! You are a budget genius! The tip of frying the meat afterwards for crispy flavorness is game-changing! Thank you! Our local Ingles never has deals like that, I am so jello! We do have Food Lion that marks down meat crazy on Sunday evenings, so I do try to shop for protein bargains then, plus we have an IGA that always has fresh butchered ground beef for $2.29 /lb, so I buy that in bulk and render down tallow from it for cooking and frying with. The price of cooking oils is crazy right now! 😮 I'm a British ex-pat now in NC, and Bannock bread is a staple for us budget minded folks over there, and very much a tradition. So glad to see you cooking that! For a sweet version, add some cinnamon, sugar and raisins... sooo good!!! Or if you have leftover bannocks and don't want to waste anyhting, soak them in milk, add the raisins, sugar and cinnamon and a sprinkling of powdered ginger. Bake for a DELICIOUS bread pudding style dessert! To die for!
I love your message that everyone deserves to be fed. I see people sometimes say mean things about addicts selling their ebt benefits or that they don't pay taxes so they shouldn't get benefits. That makes me so angry because I don't care who it is or what else they do EVERYONE DESERVES TO EAT. PERIOD. I love your channel and your family. I always feel like I have spent time with a favorite cousin or best friend after watching you. Thank you so much.
Of course you are right! Everyone deserves to be fed. To the “nay sayers” I say, what about the partners or children of these people? Should they also be denied food? Remember the Golden Rule?
I thought this video would be awful! No! I was wrong! Your a awesome food gatherer , mom, money balancer mom n wife! Good for you n your family. My wife n I cook from scratch similar to you. She's now physically disabled but were a great team still. All the best to you n your family.
I love you, Brooke! You had enough soup left if Kylen was fully grown. No complaints on servings here. You did a phenomenal job feeding all 5 of you HEALTHY portions. I would love those biscuits. Have a wonderful weekend and be blessed always, mt Southerland Squad! xoxo
I just stumbled upon your channel this morning. So, I am a new subscriber! I just wanted to let you know that I am just head over heels in love with how sweet your boys (sons and your husband) are! They adore you to pieces and you can tell they have nothing but the utmost respect and lots of love for you and that speaks volumes! Congrats on such a sweet family!
Impressive! I just found this channel. You have a talent and a good heart! Bravo for standing up to the people that have no idea what others have to do to feed their families. Your family is blessed to have you and so are we!
You have really outdone yourself! You are amazing! I hate cooking and only do the basics. I have never even heard of pork neck bones. Your family is blessed to have you!
Brooke, you are just the sweetest girl❣️ I have grown to love your ideas, and have been using your ideas as I shop. I have never had a budget and not sure how to, but your ways of unique ideas and sweet twists to the items you use are fantastic!
Brooke.. Don't explain honey!! You do you and go on! If it's and buts were candy & nuts everyday would be a picnic! You Rock!! Thankyou for all you do & sharing your family with all of us!! Love from Ohio ♥️
Hi... great finds and tips! Always salt and pepper your meats first, then brown your pork or beef before boiling.. makes for a more delicious flavor! That's my tip!
Girl, you know how to stretch a dollar. We called your bread Fry Bread. Great as a roll or add a little sugar to the flour, roll out in roundish shape, put a whole thru the middle (cooks more evenly, fry and add maple frosting. Great with coffee. On your last meal, I would bake off the stuffed rolls, get them nice and crispy, then add the gravy over the top. Nice texture to the meal. Well done! Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
I am so happy today, because I went grocery shopping today for the first time this month and I spent $103.73. This amount is a little bit over my monthly food budget which also includes cleaning items. The amazing thing is that I have enough food and incidentals to get through at least one month without needing to go grocery shopping until October. Of course, I have a stocked pantry which is why I was able to cut my budget in nearly half. Thanks for your idea of $5 pantry stock-ups; plus, thanks to the Kroger's Digital Deals, I am able to beat inflation sticker shock.
Absolutely loved what you did for your family. I am a 70 year old pensioner, but I still gleaned lots of ideas from you. Thanks Sharon in Australia 🇦🇺 🦘
Hey Brooke! You have inspired me to get cooking again. Born living on sandwiches and salads this summer (living single in Oklahoma, and it’s been warm). Yesterday I bought a package of chicken , trimmed like you’ve demonstrated and put half in the freezer , simmered the rest I a pumpkin chipotle simmer sauce and portioned into four meals that just need reheating. Not leftovers but planned overs. Thanks for all you ideas you’ve shared and the blessing at the end of the videos!
I love your recipes and using meat as a seasoning. Here is a really good and frugal old Italian recipe. 1lb lentils in a saucepan with 2-3 tbs olive oil, 1 onion chopped and water to cover. Boil until tender. In a separate sauce pan, cook elbow macaroni 2-3 cups, boil until tender. Mix both pots together without draining to create the soup. You can add spinach, garlic or even sliced hot dogs for kids. You MUST serve this with grated cheese on top. Salt and pepper as desired. So simple and so good.
I’m starving for pork neck and potatoes. I haven’t made that in years. Everything you make looks amazing, and you DO feed your family enough. You have a very luck family. YOU ARE ALL VERY BLESSED. 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵
I love your videos. I have made almost all the meals you have posted. I remember as a child living only on wic. Powdered milk and eggs big brown box of cheese . I cant lie that was the best cheese i ever ate. Our only meat was canned pork, beef and chicken. I'm not as bad off as my parents were but the end of the month gets rough with six teenagers in the house rangeing from 13- 17 that includes the twins. They all eat like grown men. Noodles and potato's go so far. Tuna fish also. All three of those make many diffrent meals. My children love trying diffrent things. Thank you so much for your videos. You are a insperation to many. These meals are cheap easy to make not time consumeing. Thank you.
I have to confess, most of what you cook, I can't eat as I'm diabetic although it all looks delicious. Your sweet family & happy demeanor are what keeps me coming back. In a world of hate & anger right now, your channel is a breath of fresh air. I especially love "let others be happy too" ❤💙💚🩵💙
I literally paused one of your videos and walked in my kitchen and made one of your recipes. You have spurred my frugal roots! I love making stuff stretch and I waste too much money. I’m inspired again! Thanks!
Me, too. I bought meat today…for my 13 year old dog ( to encourage her to eat) and the cashier said my dog eats better than I do. Some folks feel sorry for us vegetarians?
unfortunately, trolls will never go away. Even if you try and ban them from your channel they have alt accounts just for that reason..never ever take to heart what these low lives with nothing better to do but sitting at their computer trolling and making nasty, negative comments. I think you are great. i am disabled with a son who is also disabled, my husband is retired, and our monthly income is extremely limited, but you have helped us tremendously by showing us all the tricks of the trade and fabulous recipes, in fact, we have a little extra money to help us in other ways. Thank you for helping us all.
❤❤❤You are amazing, Brooke. There is no way I could make that many meals with $25. Thank you so much for the inspiration and your positive vibes. You are a Lil’ ray of light. God bless you! ❤
Brooke I just gotta write and THANK YOU!! I've watched you for awhile. Enjoyed and used a lot of your tips. But recently, the worst thing happened to my family!! Suddenly and unexpected my precious Joey (my husband of 27 yrs and 1 month) passed away in his sleep. Now, he was the full-time worker. I'm unfortunately disabled. I'm now 7:21 trying to make ends meet on only $950/mo. I absolutely love and need all your suggestions and help!! God richly Bless you and your family for what you're doing. Sending gentle hugs and many prayers for you and your family. Thank you Cyndy 💕🤗🙏
Be sure and apply for social security survivors benefits. My dad passed when I was young and my mom didn't know to apply. She was desperate for two years before she actually started getting the benefits She lost the family farm to property tax while working two jobs just to keep us.
I enjoyed watching your video. You utilize everything you have without waste. You're meals are down to earth and look really delicious. I think you're doing a great job feeding a family of five on a small budget. Thanks for sharing.
I made the noodle salat with cucumber, green pepper, onions and tomato. It taste wonderful that my autistic daughter loved it too. She is normally too choosy when it comes to texture and flavor. You are a great Mom. Thank you for your dedication to make good meal possible with low cost. ❤ Sending warm hug from Germany. I am originally from the Philippines.
Brook, I just absolutely love how REAL you are, Thank You for showing other how you can have a decent meal on a low budget. As I grew u very poor and have lived on a very low budget most of my life, I had to learn how to be creative and stretch almost every meal. As a senior now I still try to show my grandchildren and great grandchildren that they don’t need a lot to have a wonderful meal. God bless you for what you do! You and your family are loved!❤❤❤
I live in Ky. In a very small town. I never see any sales. We only have a Cee Bee. I go to Leitchfield to Wal Mart or Save a lot. It’s hard to go everyday. One way is 37 miles. the other way 32. I love you! You have help me so much! Our budget has no elasticity in it. Please never change. Ty again!
Agreed
I think so too! She could have the kids help and count toward homeschooling and it would be a nice extra income. 👍😊❣️
I'd buy it! Then I wouldn't have to hunt back through videos to find what I want!
I agree 100% . I would definitely buy her cookbook.
👍
I remember when u could get 4 for $1 Mac n cheese..anybody else remember that back in the day ?
I do.
I remember when it was .18 cents.
I do❤
I remember when I was too poor to buy mac ‘n cheese so I ate ramen every day until I passed out!😂😢
I remember getting it for .10 a box
I have raised 7 kids. Let me tell you, it made me cry watching your boys review your meals. They are absolutely precious. Don’t for a minute underestimate what you have done there, doll. It’s rare and worthy of praise.
Also, thank you for making these videos which are so helpful and inspiring for those of us who might be struggling to get by.
I noticed that too. You could really see that the boys love their Momma by what they said about her cooking and how they said it. It was touching!
That's what I came here to say. Those boys were so sweet to go along with her experiment and be so gracious about it. Her husband could use a little more enthusiasm. 😂
There is nothing wrong him just saying
I agree 100%!
I love that little one! Out for the count after every bite of anything! TO CUTE!
They complain about beans, ok then We have peas is what my Mom would say 😂
Mad props from me Bestie
I'm actually allergic to beans so I'm glad she did the no bean version. But I wouldn't care if she did a bean version I just exclude it myself since I know I'm allergic.
I like black beans and kidney beans. Also green beans too they fill you up. They are really good for you.
My grandson will not eat any kind of bean so I love beans and this is a problem for me sometimes. Often dual meals are not an option. Thanks for a no bean list of foods.❤
Sweetie, I’m 72, my son is a dr. But buried a son at 15 years. Seen a lot in my time but you are real people. Love u. Stay true. Love to you and yours
I don't know why you get negative comments. Good grief woman, you are turning out good food on a dime and some people still aren't happy. Yes, we all have different tastes but I'll tell you what Brooke, I'd eat at your house any day of the week. Thank you for sharing xx
She didn't say she got negative comments. Just people asking for an alternative to beans.
Up until I watched this video I didn’t even know how to cook neck bones now I do. I appreciate her teaching me.
People are allowed to request other suggestions, apart from endless beans. Zip it 😡🙄.
Brooke you need to open up a small restaurant
I have come to realize some people. Are just mean and like to complain. She should just ignore them.
I can literally name on my two hands how many times I have been impressed with someone cooking on TH-cam
You have earned my respect and subscription!

@blackie3740s=Sansome-tv thn....well said!!! Such nice men she has in her family!

Grinding your own bread! Wow that awesome ❤
Great to hear god bless you ❤😊
Make your own brown sugar with cane sugar and molasses! You can make it either light or dark, as you need it!
Bless you with every need supplied. I'm 70 same boat. Live on $1000 a month including $350 rent. I am still blessed and grateful. ❤😊
I love your recipes. You cook like me
I would use sweet potatoes inplace of the bananas 🍌 as I am allergic to bananas 🍌
Prayers for your continued healing on your cancer journey. 🙏🏼
@@angelawilliamson5715 thank you so much! That really means the world to me!

That’s it.
@@india1422 Thst sounds delicious.
I think these recipes probably originated in Scotland england Ireland as people from there immigrated to america
You'd be in Heaven at my local grocery store. Potatoes are $0.97 for a 5lb bag, banana's are 3lbs for $1, apples are 5 for $1. I could go on and on about the produce prices but it's just amazing how much I'm able to get with my tiny budget. Great video!
What city do you live in??
@@angeladomann-bolduc5077 Houston, TX. The store is called Joe V's Smart Shop. It's owned by HEB.
you are very fortunate…it’s crazy expensive in all my stores. i shop like brooke and look for mark downs. i’ve found if you go when they open, the butcher has started marking down yesterdays fresh stuff
I haven't been able to afford potatoes in a while ... $6 for a 5lbs bag
Sounds like my store in L, Tx. They had chops for $1.88 lb & we stocked up. Often they have boneless & skinless chicken breasts for .99-1.79 lb! Heads of cabbage were .69 this past wk also.
Damn girl you did that!!!! Watching your videos really makes me realize how much unnecessary money I spend on food and how wasteful I am.
I COSIGN THIS 400NIT TIMES. The whole point of these meals is for when you're struggling to feed the family...sometimes that means no meat.
Yes ma'am agreed
Yes!
Great videos for college students to learn from too! Thank You so much!!😊💕
What great ideas! The fried Biscuits were a hit! I would love to try the cinnamon a raisin version!
Your boys are such good eaters and so complimentary. It’s nice to cook for people who like it
I know. I almost never get any compliments on my food. And even when I do, they don’t finish their plate.
I was just thinking the same, they're so sweet!
Yes I've been loving whenever she shows them. The youngest one falling down as a thumbs up is hysterical and the older ones just seem nice, like the whole family would be fun to talk to.
@penelopegrier5073 Maybe they don't like the flavors? Try using Cajun or creole seasonings. They go with anything
Lol. The faint and the little thumb, you can’t go wrong.
I was just going to say the same thing. No offense against Brooke but when you stand there with praying hands the older ones know it would hurt your feelings if they said they didn't like it. I think Kylen is still young enough to tell you if he didn't really like it.
Lol 😅😅😅
@@sandrasewell1756 You can tell when the older boys REALLY LOVE something too. There was some episode a week or so ago where Brooke was trying to film and Ryder was hovering and sneaking his fork in to get more, and more, and more. "Can't wait till the camera's off for more" is a sure sign.
That kid is a savage with that chicken!!
I think that you are providing many practical ideas and taking people’s suggestions, such as the one about
the beans, into your later videos.
OK, how about pounding cake. This really gets silly. Folks do not feed the bears.@@jacqueline8559
@@jacqueline8559All of your comments on this channel are rude, nasty and unnecessary.
@@jacqueline8559Look up the word substitute. Use it in a sentence. Here, I'll go first... Jacqueline is irrationally upset about someone using beans to feed her family and is in the process of learning how to substitute beans for food she likes instead. You're welcome. Hope you learned something!
I am glad that you did the no beans because most of my household will not eat beans. Thank you!
It makes me sad when someone doesn't like beans. They are so so so wonderful and yummy and versatile and affordable. I know it's not eveyones thing but I couldn't do without them! so good!
Yes, love beans
Sometimes they can upset a sensitive stomach or someone with ibs.
I have a medical reason I can't eat them but I don't demand she not use them. Same as if I don't like them, I'm not Karen enough to demand she not use them geeezzzz
They’re honestly so much healthier too, and if they’re healthier AND cheaper then…
Lay month I made a pot of Navy Beans with frozen ham pieces and bone from Christmas. It was so delicious. I ate it for 3 days and canned 4 pints from it.
Sidekick and not a showstopper! I love that! This was one of the best frugal cooking videos I've seen.
😂😂
Oh no! A kitchen full of cacklers. 😂😂😂
Lol that's awesome! I put a dog door (the flap kind, not the hard plastic) on my coop back when I had chickens. They never took to it so I had to switch it out.
You win the Budget challenge, hands down! I've never seen someone stretch a dollar so far and prepare such hardy meals! Way to go!
When I worked at a day care many years ago my boss would make neck bone and potatoes for the kids and they would eat it up. Thanks for another wonderful video.
My grammas favorite dish, smoked neck bones and taters.
My parents made this and it's wonderful.I need to make this.yumm!
You’re quite the creative cook! I’m a vegan, so I cook differently, but I still appreciate both your frugality and creativity!
I love that you cook realistic home cooked meals using common foods so many of us have or can get! This is how a huge % of all of us eat- nothing fancy, just simple, flavorful and easy- thank you for keeping it real and just being you, also thanks to your family for helping you out 😁👍❤️
24:07 you did great, ma'am 💯💪🏽🍲. The food is delicious 🍲💪🏽💯. Thank you for all these great recipes!
I love your videos.I love watching your family, I no longer have my husband, son, they have passed and waiting for me.
I have never seen anyone cooking with pork neck bones before! Love an educational recipe with lesser used ingredients!
Me either. I'd love some of those for beans.
Weekly staple in the South!
I’m from Louisiana and they are used very often in many households. A lot of people boil them with Cajun seasoning and corn on the cob and potatoes
Me too. All I ever used them for is to simmer in homemade spaghetti sauce.
Interestingly enough, neck bones have THE best flavor! No contest.
Don’t change ANYTHING! Please sweetheart. We are southerners and I love beans. They can leave them out or go watch another cooking video without beans. I just love you and your family! I’m old enough to be your mom but you have taught me a couple things I didn’t know. 🤗♥️

Hehehehe Tater Tip, I love that
4 people any sort of meal for a week...you are a genius.
You are an amazing resource for humanity.
biscuits and gravy only fills you up,and doesnt have anything nutrition...
Sure, served with applesauce, and some sort of biscuit, cornbread, or bread.
I absolutely love your realistic meal ideas. People should take what they want from the videos and don’t use what they don’t. So simple.
You cook like how I was raised and I still cook like that. Just found your channel and love it. Thank you.👍😊
OMG - Kylen ate veggies in the roasted butternut squash soup! AND passed out! 😀
He licked that bowl too lol
Such an awesome idea 👍🙏
Marvelous idea. Never thought of that! Ran up on this channel accidentally and am so glad I did!
I, too, have started making the peelings like this and oh boy, howdy…..it’s good!!!😅
That sounds. Awesome!!
We never eat biscuits, so that would blow the budget. Also does your family ever eat between meals?
Ma'am, I watch to save money and for your recipes, but I gotta say... The giggles I get from your kids are all bonus! Thanks for sharing it all! ❤
I love how you show every step of what needs to be done when cooking these meals. I have never pounded chicken breasts thin before and it always bugged me to eat them so thick. I appreciated you showing how to make the breasts thin and I can now do this myself next time I cook chicken breasts. Thanks!!
Recipes are guides not written in blood folks. There are lots of great ideas presented here. Glad I found this channel
To die for!
I have raised 8 kids and can still learn something here from this Southern woman! ❤
Remember the Golden Rule?
everyone deserves to eat, of course. but selling ebt cards is criminal
Needs to eat, yes. Deserves? If a man does not work, neither shall he eat.
I love, love your recipes. I’m 70 and on a fixed budget and I can save so much money making your recipes. Thank you so much!
Amazing that you did all of these delicious meals for 25 dollars. I don't know what I would do without you Brooke. ❤❤❤
eat healthy vegetables, instead off flavored water what only fills you up.
Have a wonderful weekend and be blessed always, mt Southerland Squad! xoxo
I love how supportive your husband and your boys are about everything you feed them.
Thank you so much!!
I hate cooking also. But I keep watching Brooke and family. I love this channel. ❤
BROOKE, CAN I JUST SAY.... YOU'RE VOICE IS BEAUTIFUL AND IT PUTS ME AT PEACE WHEN YOU SING. MORE PLEASE. :) BLESSINGS TO YOUR FAMILY.
Good job❤.
Absolutely loved what you did for your family. I am a 70 year old pensioner, but I still gleaned lots of ideas from you.
Thanks

Thank you.
The best part was when Kylen had the macaroni and cheese with the hidden carrot and fainted because it was so good🤣
I have to confess, most of what you cook, I can't eat as I'm diabetic although it all looks delicious.
Thanks!
As a vegetarian, I love it when you use beans!
What a beautiful family. How you and your boys interact is so sweet. Good mamma!
Brooke
I just gotta write and THANK YOU!!
Thank you
Cyndy 💕🤗🙏
Be sure and apply for social security survivors benefits. My dad passed when I was young and my mom didn't know to apply. She was desperate for two years before she actually started getting the benefits
She lost the family farm to property tax while working two jobs just to keep us.
So sorry you lost the most special person to you and your provider. Watch Brooke and pray for provision from above. Both will help! God bless.
My condolences. Never be proud to ask for help. Agree about the survivor benefits. May god bless you and keep you. 💖
So sorry to hear your husband passed. Do follow up as suggested for more benefits. Praying for you.
I enjoyed watching your video. You utilize everything you have without waste. You're meals are down to earth and look really delicious. I think you're doing a great job feeding a family of five on a small budget. Thanks for sharing.
Brooke don’t worry about everybody else, just pray for them. They have a lot of hate in them, just pray ❤️❤️👍 👍👍
Brooke you are doing a great job showing people how to make it on a tight budget. WTG girl
@@tondamccarthy6537loved every minute. Thanks so much
I made the noodle salat with cucumber, green pepper, onions and tomato.
Ty again!
