It's actually a hell of a money maker once you have a good deck, which isn't hard to do.
I'm one of the few people that actually knows how to play Caravan well. Will this skill help me in life? No, definitely not.
@@joolsmacgrools1288 lol I play with random cards usually and easily win. Not gonna lie though, it took me a while of actually trying to learn it 😅 I was so confused as a kid when I first tried it
Combat went from 'okay, bit weak' to 'I am as a God' to 'Why are random Legion encounters one-shotting me?!'
Same goes for companions (except Boone for obvious reasons). One day Veronica would be Tyson reborn, the other she's unconscious for most of the fight.
@@evangelostse2477 "Unconscious" as she gets swiped by a Deathclaw, a Cazadore, a Praetorian with their super sledge, or a Super Mutant Master. Pokemon's fainting system would be impressed.
Love that this game is still getting some well deserved love even in 2023.
It's the last good fallout, the rest of the newer titles are mediocre

And it was not a good trailer. IMO.
New Vegas is one of those old school RPG's where the bullet originates not from the barrel of your weapon but from the center of your player character. Understanding this makes accuracy much better!

CSGO player models shoot from their eyeballs, crazy as it sounds.
The best RPG I've ever played with some of the worst shooting in any game I've ever played is how is sum up this game.
All bullets in 3 and NV veer to 2 o'clock. This was incredibly useful knowledge to have while sniping long distances. It's not as bad on NV. In 3 you would score a max distance head shot by aiming just left of the bottom rib.
Maybe it's that plethora of mods I've installed but that doesn't seem the case for me

I never had a problem with the combat personally. There is a huge accuracy debuff at the start of the game, but once you invest some skill points it actually feels like your character is improving as they go. I also liked how unarmed builds were given a lot of love, with martial arts moves you can learn from teachers throughout the wastes. I think the biggest downside to this fallout was only getting perk points every second level; the very first mod I ever got for the game reverted it to FO3 style leveling.
I think the biggest downside of _Fallout: New Vegas_ was all the stuff that had to be cut due to time/console/engine constraints. I really wish the game had been made after _Fallout 4_ rather than _Fallout 3,_ not that the engine is much improved but everything else is.
ppl don't notice the strength and or combat skill requirement for good handling
@@Voltaic_Fire modding Fo4 is brutal and it doesn't have half of the mechanics that made NV great
The Dev team was constrained by Bathesda was a lot of the feeling I got from the game, great story telling, locations, characters, vibe etc but....
They had to build it with Bathesda's pre-existing Fallout 3 engine which was the old fallout turn based top down system in some ungodly marriage with 1st person shooters. Great for games like Fallout 1, 2 and tactics but really bad in a 1st person shooter.
If I remember it was the original team or lead by the creators of the series but since they had changed their system already in tactics in a wildly fun to play way I feel they would have created their own system for 1st person if they had the chance to.
@@nathanlevesque7812 Modding Fallout 4 is easier than modding Fallout 3/New Vegas, I should know having made and used many mods with both. You are completely right in saying that Fallout 4 lacks the mechanical depth of New Vegas, it is a terribly simplified game even after survival mode added some complexity back in, but Fallout 3 also lacks that depth and Obsidian still managed to add it in excellently. I firmly believe that the right team, with sufficient passion and skill, could not only make an excellent New Vegas in the Fallout 4 engine but do so better than Obsidian did with the Fallout 3 engine.
Ever since the honest trailer for fallout 3 and 4, I wanted this for so long... And it's finally here.

You know a game is really good when it has 4 DLC expansions & all of them are great.
Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, & Lonesome Road are all so good!
And you know they are good because the fandom is endlessly debating which one is best.
@@TristanBanks Not really, you know its not good when you unistall the mods and all the fanboys would be unistalling and yelling at their computers lol. I mean people debate wich one is best on Fallout 4 it sold more got better reviews on release aka before moded, has better mods, better mod support. And NV fanboys are still like "well I liked this one better after I crammed it full of so many mods I almost broke the game!"
Eh, Honest Hearts is the weakest imo. Old World Blues is a masterpiece, though. For me it’s OWB > LR > DM > HH
FNV is unique among fallouts in that not only are all 4 dlcs good, but they all connect with each other into an epic saga, and even ties right back into the main game itself. That's almost unheard of in popular video game franchises.
Meanwhile you get to play with custom-designed robots in Fallout 4.

Please do one on the DLC's. They're practically their own games!

I did a full one punch man run (before he was a thing), skilled in stealth and melee and I would just crouch and one shot everything with pneumatic fists. With exploding meatbag perk equipped, everything was just flying flesh afterwards.

What great timing, I was considering just today to jump into the Fallout franchise for the first time! Was thinking of Fallout 3. I've got 3, NV and 4 in my library.
I don't think it matters which one you experience first.
Of those three, the order doesn't really matter so much. In my opinion, Fallout 2 is the best of the franchise so far.
@@Brigand231 Fallout 2 isn't even the same genre as the series everyone else loves. It's not the best of the series, it's extremely dated with bare bones mechanics and is incredibly, unbelievably, boring by modern standards. You can like whatever you want but just know it's literally impossible for you to like that game without nostalgia blinding you. No offense.
if you are on PC explore modding that fixes most known issues. And make sure to make a different make a different save every 5 minutes there are game breaking bugs and glitches.

Damn…am I gonna have to go replay New Vegas AGAIN?
The best part of the combat was unironically the levergun, that game gave me a hard-on for Winchester repeaters in what turned out to be a very formative experience.
Take New Vegas' level of writing and mix in Fallout 4's arguably improved gunplay and you have a recipe for a #1 best seller in the series.
NV2 is in the works by community modders. Takes exactly those two things, and it will hopefully be everything we've hoped for.
I'd reserve the "improved" gunplay when you meet the weapon's Skill and Strength requirements.
There is a mod team aiming to recreate New Vegas as a mod for Fallout 4. There's a decent amount of work done already and it looks really good, you should check out the trailer.

But I want them back in the new Fallout games. With the reward for meeting those requirements being the improved gunplay animations from Fallout 4.
One of the best games of all time. I still play it every once in a while. It's so fun.
Tips for Caravan:
-make a deck of cards with values 6 and up, and all face cards besides Queens.
-The Caravan AI's are simple, and can be predicted.
-Nobark has the highest cash, making him the best source of large early game income. The next best is the merchant at the fort. You will need to be allowed in legion territory, but since he's a merchant with unlimited games, he's good.
I had soooooooo much fun with Fisto! "Is that all you got robot?!"
I mean, I had to test the merchandise before selling it to the Atomic Wrangler...
My favourite RPG of all time. Has some beautiful filk songs tributing it, too.
That "New Game Plus" joke hit me. I loved this game but I'm still salty cause I lost my backup saves when the ApocalyPS3 shutdown happened, and the only one that remained was after the final mission started so I can't even go back and do anything. I was hoping for some post-game DLC to continue the story (with Caesar's wicked sword) like Fallout 3 did, but it never came.
Literally One Of The Best Western RPG Period!

I figured you would bring up this survivor mode where even bullets have weight and it was one of the first games to try and make the game feel more realistic.
Still my favorite immersive RPG of all times. Of course need it heavily modded to play these days. Been hoping for a remake of it using the latest graphics and with all the bugs fixed.
Fallout 4: New Vegas looks very promising.

To be honest I never had a problem with the combat. The combat just makes it feel more like fallout
the only real issue with the combat is that the bullets are given a % chance to hit, so even if you KNOW you got a hit, it's all up to the math to decide...
People just don't understand how to play it, guns are super satisfying most of the time, and with melee weapons I do 360s and smack NPCs across the room. I honestly don't like any other games combat as much, Skyrim is close tho.

This is my favorite Fallout game! I usually play an energy weapon build with high intelligence. Boone and ED-E are generally the ones I travel with

I remember when people were complaining about Cyberpunk bugs. I was like, "sweetheart let me tell you a tale about Fallout." Buggiest games you couldn't stop playing. It was part of the charm I guess.

In this game’s defense, I purchased the PS3 collector’s edition of Fallout New Vegas and rarely ever encountered any bugs surprisingly. Especially the infamous Doc Mitchell bug shown here at 0:22. I never got the Xbox 360 or PC version which I assume are better graphically and performance wise. But take that with a grain salt mind you.
Do the Wii Games franchise! Wii Sports, Wii Music, Wii Sports Resort, etc.
This might be sacrilege for some, but I'd love to see a remake of New Vegas with some of F4's mechanics or at least a facelift to the existing game.
Only mechanics from 4 I'd want in a New Vegas Remake are:
>Quick looting.
>Power Armor. But heavily tweaked in FNVR where there's no fusion core mechanic and Power Armor Training gets multiple levels to limit power armor's usefulness. You can still use power armor without training, you just suck at it.
>Improved gunplay. But only if you meet the weapon's Skill and Strength requirements.
>Item animations. I'd like all Aid Items to play an animation when consuming them. Stimpaks being injected, Jet being huffed, food being eaten, bottles being drunk from, etc.
The rest can rot with 4.
A lot of it you can add in if you're playing on PC.
@@DJWeapon8 I'd keep the base building as an optional feature, create your own outpost for personal use.
Or when you help/ liberate an area, give you the ability to fix it up and get people to move back in.
Just the building part, automate everything else.
@@JakeBaldwin1 the reason I didn't put in base building is because 1) the system as it is sucks ass, and 2) New Vegas already has dozens of decently built settlements with several NPCs unlike Fallout 4.
@@DJWeapon8 I personally liked the base building cause it felt like I was making a noticeable impact on not just the people in the wasteland, but the environment itself.
I wish that was more heavily featured in the fallout games, like as you help settlements they get bigger, have more npcs that give you quests and services.
Like help Novac with the ghoul infestation and several new junk traders with better quality goods appear after a few weeks with some new homes built.
Please say: "A mercenary's leadership focuses on practicality. Don't expect me to babysit others."
I can't imagine playing this without the Unofficial FNV Patch mod at least. It's like I'm looking at a different game entirely.

This was one of the greatest RPGs ever. And the DLCs were incredible. To this day, I still hold Joshua Graham as one of the best characters in video gaming.
So, Bethesda, prostrate yourself at the feet of Obsidian, make a remaster of New Vegas, and hand over the entire Fallout Franchise to them. They are superior to you.
Nah Old World Blues was the bees knees how many other opportunities do you get to talk to a toaster.
The toaster was epic, but I liked Lonesome Road the most of the DLCs.
I love New Vegas. I wish Bethesda kept and allowed Obsidian Entertainment to make another Fallout game.
They would do this Honest Trailer as I decide to finally play it. Fallout 4 brought me into the Fallout world but this one made me love it even more.
