Great job highlighting the differences between the additions without assigning value to which one is better. I always look forward to your videos. Great job sir
Thanks Jason! I always try to present the new version, compare it to the old, and leave to the public to comment wicht they liked better. Personally, I prefer the classic version, but 5e have some interesting concepts and ideas that could be used and adapted to classic lore.
The good news is that we can take what little good concepts that 5e presented and add them properly into our renditions of the setting. Thanks for yet another good video
They tried to depict him as friendly bard. I could work with the same desing and clothes, but he should have at least a sinister look in his eyes, or something wicked in his smile. Fangs, blood or other small deails about his mosntrous natures could also help to improve the art results.
Certainly not the worst 5e domain but still a downgrade from it's classic version IMHO.. Always enjoy your videos but I'm really looking forward to getting back to the classic stuff/ seeing more of your work. Thanks for all the work you put into these, really shows through!
Thanks! It would be a while now before we found another domain that has a 5th edition version. Back to exploring the classic mists of Ravenloft [and Fraternity of Shadows aditiions].
Another wasted opportunity for a new idea... grafted onto an old domain. Well, at least this inspired "Harmon Loomis", a Reynard-esque trickster out to ruin the reputation of the Meistersinger Lukas.
The concept is intersting, but as all 5e domains, it doesn't go much deep and is left vague to be completed by the DM. Could be used as new domains or character, or even integrated to the classic lore with interesting results, but they chose to erase previously Ravenloft.
You up for another collaboration? Got a big one with a lot of people looking to add you talking about the 50th anniversary and what you like about the game
I think this works as a far future katakass or a child region first settled by katakassian people that then became a cultural mecca for the mists. I love the entire cities dedicated to be a stage or the production of magic props too. However, they fit better in forgotten realms or mystara more then ravenloft imho. On the whole, like other 5e offerings a mixed bag with good new ideas that are half baked and inferior conceptually to the og.
It could be a development for classic Kartakass, but it had to somehow steal the culture spotlight from Dementlieu to becoma a meca for the arts. The classic Kartakass was to rural and forested for a large population living on dreams of fame to visit.
I am curious how you do videos on Har’Akir and I'Cath in 5e. It seems like you like those versions better than the versions in previous years editions. Will old fans still cling to older proposals for those two domains ?
In the case of I'Cath I prefer the 5e version. I don't know how I would mix them, but perhaps there are some ideas that can be adapted from each version. I love the classic Har'akir, but it is a little empty an stagnated in terms of plots. I'll probably use the classic Egypt inspired domain, but mix some of the new ideas from 5e to make Anktepoth more active and with his own agenda. But I'll probably stick with the ancient mummy visual for Ankhtepot, instead of his new alien from the past looks. But who knows, we have to wait until we get there to see how the video and ideas might go.
It is very obvious that they are really working hard to try to get younger players buy pandering to what they think that younger people like. I suspect they saw Karakassian and thought Kardashian.
Indeed. Much of the new domains have a more modern trope and themes to attract new audiences. It looses something of the Gothic Horror charm of previous editions. Some ideas are interesting, but perhaps would work better as new domains and characters.
Honestly I think Kartakass was one of the better done Domains in the new Ravenloft. Shame they all didn't get this kind of revamp. Turning Harkon Lukas into a figure like Robert Johnson has a lot of potential for great horror stories. Using the corrupting power of fame and adoration is something not really explored much in D&D. Though I personally dislike the idea of a whole land of people doing the same thing with not a single person questioning it to be a bit of a stretch.
It is an interesting take for the Domain, and it has potential if it was better explored and detailed. If it was more subtle in the proposal, it could be an interesting addition to classic Kartakass.
It’s SO DIFFICULT to get into the new Wokenloft aspects of the downgraded domains. Some good concepts that I suppose just need to be re-adapted to one’s own campaigns. At least this adaptation isn’t as bad as some of the other ‘re-worked/re-imagined’ domains…still kinda sucks though. Great video though, ALWAYS look forward to them.
It's a shame they ditch the lore an domains of classic Ravenloft. There are some interesting ideas and concepts that coul be integrated to the classic setting as an evolution of it's history, or even as new domains or characters.
@@HouroftheRaven It is…however…we now have Hour of the Raven, The Black Feather, and The Fraternity of Shadows. How I get my Ravenloft fix these days…I’m grateful. 👍😀👍

Thanks for the new video Gabriel!
Thanks Javier!
This new version of Kartakass wouldn't be so bad, if Harkon Lukas didn't look like he was designed as a Disney's character...

Hard disagree, I think that's a boon not a bug.
Always a treat to hear from Gabriel.

The Loup Garou is a joy to hear about.
Glad to see they come back in 5th, with some of the ideas of lycantrophe curses from the classic Van Richten Guide to Wereabeasts
Another great video. I'd subscribe twice if I could, ha ha.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!

@@HouroftheRaven I agree with you about the mummy design. The new artwork feels weird for a mummy.
