Us too, we were just talking about this last night. Great idea and I love the idea of making something to put your legs up on with the drawers out - brilliant idea! I LOVE the table ideas also!
Not only an excellent job but nicely filmed and presented. It's amazing camper manufacturers have not clued in on what a great option this is. I've spent 3 months in a camper and know first hand how uncomfortable those dinettes are.
Those articulating tables are sweet. Very clever. We are in the process of changing out an RV couch with two recliners, was looking for some sort of table resolution, your idea is perfect. Thanx!
THIS!!! ❤ You just gave me the answer I was looking for sir!! I didn’t want to lose the storage that I have either and this is the solution I needed! I can keep the storage and now be comfortable!! I love TH-cam!!! Where did you get the chairs and thank you so very much!! I’ve subscribed to your channel!
A friend did a similar mod in his C class. Instead of the swing away table, he used a pop up coffee type table that could be use to eat on and then drop down for a foot rest. Works amazingly well.
Just what we were thinking of doing. But I think I would need something for my feet instead of them dangling. Nice job though. You also showed me the type of chair we were thinking about.
What an elegant solution to a continuing problem! If you removed the chairs, you would have a great bed area with pillows. That was truly brilliant! I will use your articulating arm idea for a console table in the cab area.
Very nice! I have a similar idea, mostly with similar chairs mounted onto floor cupboards. Just like you, if I lose the chair legs I can have them sit on storage instead. Maybe you can add a very secure rod or something to the top of the cupboard below as a foot rest.
may look a little strange but this is the first thing I thought of www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/guide-gear-camp-chair-foot-stool?a=2195357&szc=000&clrc=107&pm2d=CSE-SPG-15-PLA&PLA&Google&CI&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhv-NleXL6wIViAiICR1Ytwf4EAQYCiABEgLKwPD_BwE
@@JNatella i have RA and live in a lot of pain, especially feet, ankles, and legs. I bought the Moon Pod ottoman and it’s wonderful. I can always scrunch it for more support, or whatever I need. Pricey, but totally worth it for me. Goes with any chair or sofa. BTW, for me, the Moon Pod chair was too hard to get in/out of, but I’m old, lol. Their ottoman is great!
Great Mod Charles. I know leg supports has been suggested. I would add a small padded top consol between the chairs with storage under a lid and maybe a drawer in the bottom. You know some place to store all the electronic chargers and adaptors you accumulate. Nice neat work.
Another great mod / video. Perhaps some felt on inside of the clamp so wood doesn't get scratched.... Watching a bunch more of these videos tonight. Love em.
Make leg supports that you can Attach to the plywood just like you did with the tables you can adjust them to your liking and have them upholstered where your calves rest on them
I too am/was missing comfortable seating options in my Arctic Fox 990. Like you I could not afford to loose my underneath storage. let alone the furnace that is located on one side. This modification will allow me to retain these necessary items and pick up a comfy chair for coffee in the morning.
I have a dinette and a couch across from it and this a purrrfect idea. I have been trying to figure out how to put a cat post at a window. Now I can have a counter expansion on top of the one bench top then giving my kitchen area an L shape plus, the cat's space. 2 problems solved simply . Thanks
A little bit late with this comment, but better late than never - I can't imagine that it would take too much to add a lid to your storage drawers to do double duty as a foot rest. Inspiring idea, Charles!
I'd gotten a quote for a (factory order) Chalet a few years ago, was surprised and disappointed that as with other manufacturers, no one was offering this as a factory option. A Truck Camper by definition is a small space. Seems to me its more likely to have two-persons on board than 4 or more. I think the manufacturers should offer comfortable recliner seating for two, with a means of optionally seating two others, perhaps on a bench that could be mounted in front of the recliners. Your design is great.
you should send a copy of this video to the truck camper manufacturers like northstar campers and lance it would be great to be able to buy a camper from the factory with this mod in it
Been looking for something like this for awhile. This is absolutely great! You did a superb job. I was thinking about using this on a Lance 1995 which has the full length drawers but would still work. My only addition would be to somehow have a chair with a footrest too. Otherwise, this is my 95% solution and I am now a subscriber. Well done!
Nice! Glad to see the K.I.S.S. principle at work. And I liked the fact that you left the original install in place. Like several have asked before, what about your feet? Would seem uncomfortable after a while. Great job tho!
I love the mod you did in this video, and I need to do the same thing to my Passport Express, which has a small "jack-knife" sofa sitting in a slide-out. Those chairs you installed would fit perfectly on the slide "pedestal" which has the slide-out mechanism underneath. Do you still have the model number or other ordering info for the chairs you installed, as I have not been able to find any RV "recliners" that don't have legs or other structure underneath. I need something where the chair just sits right on top of that swivel base like yours. Thanks. LJ Ford
Fantastic conversion! Who wouldn't rather sit in a comfy recliner vs dinette cushions? One issue for me...half the recliner is missing...the leg support. I wouldn't like my legs to dangle over the edge. Do you have an ottoman or some other inventive idea for leg support?
Nice job Charlie! Can't wait to get our Chalet tc someday. Does it bother you that your legs hang over the front. You may have to come up with a foot rest or something...take care, Laurie in Fl.
As many have mentioned, great mod, non-destructive and all that, but needs a foot rest. I also like that with the cushions placed in storage, the foot-well underneath the "normal" dinette could be used for folding chairs, or other bulky items. Thanks for the vid.
Can i get more information on the chairs? Where can i order them from? Did you customize them yourself? Thank you for any information you can share. Just love it! Great Job.
Thinking, if there is room in a persons RV, to extend out the base of carpeted plywood maybe a foot to provide foot rest? Also, if have a cat or two, the space below might be spot for a litter box! :-)
Are those really comfortable to sit in? Does the bottom of the dinette restrict your feet? We gave up on a remodel because there wiring for the slide is under the jackknife sofa, but you made me think of another possibility.
I like the idea, My thought is that my feet would be hanging down with no foot rest. Ideally a recliner with a footrest and not have to be higher up. Interesting idea, in any event.
Great stuff again CC, love it. Just a reminder that I will be dropping my TC off to you later in the Spring for some mod installs :) jk, but I would like the link to those chairs because I think this mod will maybe work in my TC. Thanks.
I like that mod looks great. if I ever get a truck camper I would like the recliners instead of the dinette wonder if any of the truck camper manufacturers would do this as an option.
We would love to do this, however our dinette is a slide and is raised up and not level with main floor of the trailer. Bought chairs to do this, but now they sit up too high, need a stool to get into them....now we have to remove the frame work for the benches, which isn't what we had in mind. Other than the bed, this would be our only seating area, we have a 21 ft. Springdale Mini
One of the best mods I've seen. I've always thought those dinettes were too restrictive and unconformable.
This is brilliant! I was just about to remove the dinette completely, until I saw your video. Love this Idea! Thanks for sharing.
Us too, we were just talking about this last night. Great idea and I love the idea of making something to put your legs up on with the drawers out - brilliant idea! I LOVE the table ideas also!
Excellent solution!
Not only an excellent job but nicely filmed and presented. It's amazing camper manufacturers have not clued in on what a great option this is. I've spent 3 months in a camper and know first hand how uncomfortable those dinettes are.
I'm so glad you put this out there. Thank you so much ! We updated our dinette in a similar manner and we love it !
Those articulating tables are sweet. Very clever. We are in the process of changing out an RV couch with two recliners, was looking for some sort of table resolution, your idea is perfect. Thanx!
This is a well thought out and quite ingenious mod. Very impressive.
THIS!!! ❤

Great idea. I would need something for my feet, no way could they dangle about. Wife would need a step stool to get in, but nice easy idea!
super duper clever! I hope you have other nifty videos like this, I may have to borrow, or use inspiration from, your great idea!
This is my favorite mod yet! Thanks for the videos and keep them comming
Fantastic, thanks for the ideas. Two upgrades I might like is a cup holder between the chairs and footstools.

Excellent improvise and overcome Charles. The modifications you made to that T.V. arm would make for an excellent DIY video. Thanks for posting.
Great ideas! This is exactly what we need!
especially love your clever tables! great idea!
Absolutely brilliant! I think we will do that to the rear dinette of our travel trailer.
Just what we were thinking of doing. But I think I would need something for my feet instead of them dangling. Nice job though. You also showed me the type of chair we were thinking about.
This guy's the G.O.A.T.
What an elegant solution to a continuing problem! If you removed the chairs, you would have a great bed area with pillows. That was truly brilliant! I will use your articulating arm idea for a console table in the cab area.
Ingenious, I like how you have a new space and also managed to keep the old setup 👍
What a neat, transparent comfort add on.
Nice idea. We're figuring out how to install recliners, which this method precludes But nice idea.
Very nice! I have a similar idea, mostly with similar chairs mounted onto floor cupboards. Just like you, if I lose the chair legs I can have them sit on storage instead. Maybe you can add a very secure rod or something to the top of the cupboard below as a foot rest.
You could mount some footrests the same way so you’re not dangling and taking a chance on a blood clot. Very innovative! Well done you!
Great Job! Would not thought of that Mod! Keep up the Great Work!
yes leg support would be great too have. have someway to support your legs while sitting in those chairs.
I was thinking the same thing. Fantastic, only missing one thing.....
Great innovation, thinking outside the box....

Very nice work 🎉🎉
Excellent idea
Omg, what I needed. Thanks!
Great video and super impressive mod. Well done!
Awesome work! Keeping it simple.

Looks good great for couples
Awesome idea, Charlie! Where did you get the chairs?
Hello - love your idea. Can you please tell me where you purchased your chairs, and what brand they are? Thank you.
Awesome Idea!
This is the best idea e have seen so far!
Very creative
Thank you for sharing this great idea!!
Impressive ingenuity
Great job Charlie...going to have to look at your truck camper when we get back to SP for the season...John G.
You made that look easy!
pretty slick Charles
Love it. I'll use an ottoman for leg support. You can get a matching Euro chair ottoman.
That was clever, excellent idea !
Can you tell me how you ordered those chairs, I mean what exactly did you ask for? Also did you put the swivel mechanism on the chairs?
Thanks John
What a great 👍 idea!!!

Really clever!
Wonderful modification. We have 19.5" door. That is why asking what your door size is. You said chair just fit through your door.
Our door is 20.5" at its narrowest spot!
Great Job!!!!!
THAT IS JUST KOOL!
Nice job.

I would need a full lazy boy there. But good mod.
Great job !

Trevor Reiten, how about a removable board that nests between the drawer with a cushion on top?
Brilliant

Snowriver campers out of BC offered a quad recliner, they are out of business now, some used ones around
AMAAAAZING! You're hired! :)

I like the idea but I am wondering how long you can sit with your feet not touching the floor.
Where did you get the seats. The link on Pinterest isn’t working. Thank you, I love this idea.

Just subscribed to you! I like what you did and will have to show my wife. I think she would like that too.
marvelous work, thanks for posting this, very clever :-)

You could have bolted a Murphy Style ironing board on the wall as a table for really cheap but of course you went for style in the class
Awesome smart love it!
Great idea love it

I'm the beach girl
not
I agree ...def an improvement and better use of space
Pretty awesome 👏 leg support would be nice 👍 well done great idea 👍🇨🇦
Foot support should've been a mandatory requirement!
As many have mentioned, great mod, non-destructive and all that, but needs a foot rest. I also like that with the cushions placed in storage, the foot-well underneath the "normal" dinette could be used for folding chairs, or other bulky items. Thanks for the vid.

I have since modified the tables to this design:

smart idea
Ingenious!

We have looked high and low to find these chairs for our RV. Where did you find them? Great repurpose video
A link to where I purchased the chairs is below the video in the description!
Great stuff again CC, love it.
Just a reminder that I will be dropping my TC off to you later in the Spring for some mod installs :)
jk, but I would like the link to those chairs because I think this mod will maybe work in my TC.

The link to the chairs has been added to the description above.
When I click on the link it takes me to a Russian site.
I like that mod looks great. if I ever get a truck camper I would like the recliners instead of the dinette wonder if any of the truck camper manufacturers would do this as an option.
Alp RV manufacturer of Adventurer and Eagle cap offers theater recliners in place of dinette
Very nice design. Are both of your feet hanging? Maybe a little flip up foot shelf? It would bother my back not to have foot support!
To support our feet I simply pull out the table about a foot and it works great as a foot rest!
Where did you find these lazy boy chairs. And what brand are they. Love the change. I looking to do the same to my artic fox
