@@Superagent666picking it sounds so much cleaner for the record. IMO when it’s just hammer ons and pull offs it seems like a muffled version of the riff
@@valentino7353tit’s the timing. It’s in like 12/8 or some bullshit like that so it sounds really fuckin odd, but like most Tool songs, the guitar takes a backseat to the rest of the band

Just play based on the rest of the band. If you think about it too much it's easy to get lost.
I really appreciate that you put the why in this video, most other videos like this don’t. As a beginner it’s pretty easy to see videos like this and think “well it still looks hard” but the explanations really help
I remember the first time I tried to learn Never Meant and being pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. Picking accuracy is the biggest thing, but it's a great riff to practice that
Thunderstruck is universally cool song to exercise. First level - one string plus hammer-ons and pull-offs. Next level - one string with picking Next level - multiple strings with picking Makes hell of an exercise for alternate picking.
"Mr Moustache" difficulty kind of reminds me of "Snow." Very easy to play the riff a few times but requires a lot of endurance to play the whole way through. Especially if you use all downstrokes. I'd argue it's one of the hardest Nirvana songs.
I remember back in High School there was a kid one year younger, we were always “competing” when playing guitar and one time for the Christmas talent show he played a bunch of classic rock riffs, including Thunderstruck. I remember him playing it with one hand, and recording the audience on Snapchat with the other as the audience E R U P T S, me laughing thinking to myself “if only they knew.” I was always more classical/fingerstyle but we’d always give each other tips on our respective specialties.
Now try singing and playing Mr Moustache. Not so easy. A lot of Nirvana songs are easy as shit to play but then you try singing along with them and it gives a lot of appreciation for Kurt's musicianship
Waiting to see if the "Haaaaaaaackshully..." brigade comments about Thunderstruck.
Bruh and it’s like do people not read?? Did I not make myself clear!!? 👹

That second part on A string though, real fast for a beginner (at 3ish minutes)
Pretty fun to play

The reason Mr. Moustache is easy is the reason Hysteria is easy on bass: sounds fast, is slow. Same thing over and over.

Thunderstruck was picked in the studio rather than hammered but still yeah just one string, only difficulty is the speed
Why he decided to do that is beyond me. Hammer offs are easier and sound better to me imo
