@ 3:06 I love that idea of saving one of the pictures for the background.

You should've taken the very next page too, having the picture of the goose when having the book safe fully opened would've been prettier

That's a lot of work, I don't have patience for it, but I'd definitely buy one!!! Looks Fantastic. Beautiful work.

Thanks for the response. I've got some ideas too, but haven't had a chance to build it into a practice book. The video series was really helpful and I learned alot just by watching. Thanks again!

I figured there was probably more to it than I realized, but that's a lot of work!

Thank you Jeff, really useful tutorial! I don't have a scroll saw, but I do have a dremmel multimax which I will try. It won't give me the curves though. Alternatively, a keyhole hand saw which might work. Thanks again!

Just used these videos to create 2 of these books. I'm still learning, but here are my thoughts on everything:
The instructions in these videos are excellent. Very thorough and easy to follow. I did find myself wanting to fast forward a few times, but honestly, I feel like a jerk for even mentioning that. Detail is what makes these things high quality, and you take your time to explain it all, so kudos on that.
My problem is that I've got a cheap scroll saw (a Rockwell) and junk ryobi blades. At least I think that's my problem. I see in the video you have a Ryobi saw. I'd venture to guess that's about the same quality as mine, but I wonder if you're using Ryobi blades? I have tried the ones from Home Depot, 10tpi, and it's a struggle to get through a 1.5 inch or more book. I think I'm going to visit a woodworking store tomorrow and find a better blade. I don't know about you, but most Ryobi items like drill bits, blades, router bits, and things that need to stay sharp are generally not all that great at being sharp for long.
I'm curious what you'd recommend doing for dealing with the covers that come on many of the books. For now I'm just discarding them. I assume you've got some way to glue them on though.
Anyway, thanks a ton, and I look forward to making several more for gifts for my family, and with any luck improving each time.

I agree with you on the quality of the lower end machines. I'm planning a follow up video to cover that, and many of the other questions I have received since making these videos. I have learned a lot since filming this series with the 3000+ hollow books made since then.

Currently I do not have any advice on magnetic closures. Never done one. I have a few ideas on how to make it work but I have not purchased the magnets/parts to give them a try.... yet.

Wowzers! 3 part series on how to cut a block of pages out of a book! Looks good but the videos were way too long! Just honest.

I sprayed the pages together with glue, let them dry, then drew a rectangle with my marker, and used an xacto knife to cut out the pages. It's just for storage that no one is going to see. Total time to do this was about 10 minutes. Your project was WAY too involved. I bought a bag of 6 books for $3.00 at a library sale.

Yes, I too have spent a lot of money on woodworking plans, some are really good, others meh… I’d suggest to download Woody’s Woodworking Bible to start, and its free btw…

Jeff - Do you have any information you can share on installing magnetic closures? I've had a request for a closure hidden within the book and Google seems to be woefully short on the topic.
