Yup couldn't agree more with this statement, at first I'm a Blink but, then I become a YG stan. Like their artists have a unique style in music yet suit my music taste, especially in K-pop industry. Hope soon they can make a YG Family concert since this year almost all their artists have a comeback🙏🏼

I’m so happy that you guys discussed the importance of Big Bang to k-pop. Speaking for someone who gotten into k-pop back in 2008-2009, I was a huge fan of Big Bang because of the trends they set! It wasn’t a norm to write your own music in k-pop. As people know it was low key criticized that k-pop was like a factory popping out idols to fit the companies image and couldn’t do the music they pleased. Big Bang was the first idol group to have their own sound and color by producing their own music and also changed the fashion trends etc! A lot of artists including many BTS members were in awe of BB and followed their path of producing the music they want. The reason why I bring this up is now a days the fandom wars are so beyond me since so many new people are getting into it without knowing the artists that came before them. People talk about how BTS is the biggest/best k-pop group etc in history and paved the way for kpop In America or whatever which I’m not saying isn’t true but at the same time, BTS is here because of BB. A lot of them talk about how it was BB who inspired them to get into music etc. before they even took a break to do their military service, they were still topping all the charts and winning all the awards beating BTS even when they started to get big with their songs I need u and fire (2015-2016). They were also one of the first groups to get big in the US other than Wonder Girls at the time. Justin Bieber and other artists were friends with GD as well so if you really think about it, BB paved the way originally for artist to make it in America. Once Big Bang was gone, BTS killed it from 2017-2022, but that doesn’t change the fact that BB paved the way regardless if you hate them or not. I just hate that every new k-pop fan gives too much credit to BTS because of their recent achievements the last couple years when it was BB who paved the way for k-pop idols in general. As we see BB top the charts without promotion just shows to everyone how important they are to not only their fans but other artists!
Its funny to see people still saying that BTS paved the way for kpop in America because that is not true at all. Even in my country and several other asian countries, people started listening to kpop because of them. If someone told me 10 years ago that saudi arabia or UAE would have a kpop fan base I'd have laughed at them. Please stop minimizing their hardwork too. They face criticism on a global level. Almost double of triple the amount their seniors had to face. You make big bang sound not that big by saying they won against i need u and fire which were released early on in BTS's career when they were nobodys. I'm pretty sure Big Bang are more successful than winning against a rookie group. Secondly, it is easy to say BTS are here because of BB then by that logic, BigBang too are here because of their seniors and who they idolised. You could've made a whole comment about how BB have done a lot of kpop and about their impact without bringing BTS into the conversation because they're from 2 completely different eras. 10 years from now, there'll be a new group that will be considered a milestone for kpop. Even if BTS are associated the most with kpop right now, at some point BB held that place so Yeah. Please understand that nobody had it easy and both of them made a significant contribution towards the genre. You seem like a BB fan so congratulations im glad you were able to see your favourite group have a cb after a long hiatus 🤍🤍

I can feel Yoshi's emotion.. bigbang was the reason why he became an idol..his sister brought him to bigbang concert and right there and then he already knew he wanted to be like bigbang.. he's now a full fledged idol in a company where bigbang started but now bigbang is gone.. 😭
As soon as the song started it feels like all the air gets sucked from my lungs.. im a baby in the world of kpop but this song is so beautiful and impactful it hits the feelings and tugs on the heart strings. And I didn't even grow up listening to BigBang like some of you. I love this song alot regardless..

Same here, I also got in Kpop just 3 years ago, and I've heard a lot about how Bigbang is great. As a baby YGA stan, of course I highly respect Bigbang. When I heard this song first, it made a huge impact on me. I realised why Bigbang has such huge impact on Kpop. I am sure, sometime in future even if I stop listening to Kpop, I will continue to listen this song forever.

Nah, we really still can't help but feel so emotional with Still Life. I agree with Jas about TOP's part. It always gets very emotional on that part. What Mino said hits deep. They know the story of BIGBANG much better than us so the weight of their message on the song really weighs heavy. So their reaction on TOP removing the mask and looking back must have felt so much heavier and means more. All those years of struggles werr shown in his eyes and words. Omg i gotta stop this but all I can say is, seeing YG groups react offers new perspectives on the song and BIGBANG themselves..

I'm not really educated when it comes to kpop becuz I only got into in 2018 but when I did it was YG Artists. There are a lot of artists too but YG Artist really have this side to them that ONLY YG artists has. It's special it's what makes them sooo unique and amazing. For the first time a kpop song made me cry so hard n = it's Still Life by Bigbang. Bigbang and 2ne1 really made me shed tears when I listen to their song. I can really see the impact that Bigbang has on their juniors but not only that even other idols and other people too outside of yg. I've watched most of the popular variety shows in korea and every single one they always mention Bigbang like always. Even artists today like BTS look up to Bigbang since b4 debut and I really love the huge impact they had.... still have on idols and ppl in general today. N It will only continue on...what makes me happy is that Yg sent out a statement saying this is not the end of Bigbang. May their legacy and everything they did continue to be an inspiration to all n may their future be as successful as it is today. Love u Bigbang💛

Past weeks has been roller coaster to me as well. All I know is, Bigbang is THE big influence on not only KPOP but our LIFE.
One thing I can't help but be proud of as an Asian, especially an East Asian in general, is the respect that we pay to those who have come before us. We acknowledge our elders, seniors, and ancestors bc we know we wouldn't be where we are without them. I think that's why this reaction was so precious and emotional to me. It's so obvious, the respect and the tribute they are more than happy to give to Bigbang.
So true, they are family, so to get such a deep feeling from this song when I first heard it and again now.. Listening to the other members of YG boy groups, giving their feedbasck on their hyungs song was so special, can relate to them too. They got it too, what we got from this MV Still Life.

I grew up with BIGBANG, spending all of my teenage years with them and now I'm slowly nearing 30. I spent half of my life with them and they are so important to me that it's hard to explain to someone who never felt that way about other people. Truly, haters and the media can say what they want but it doesn't change the fact that their impact is unbeatable. Seeing the kids of Treasure cry made me emotional again because Treasure is one of my favorite 4th Gen groups and I know they grew up loving BIGBANG and respect them. Sending all of the virtual hugs to Yoshi and Haruto.
It's so painful seeing Big Bang, iKON, Winner and Treasure 'cos they have been going thru the same situation where lossing a member, a brother.

For me, both bigbang and kpop mean a lot, not only for helping me grow and get away from bad influences, but also because it has been a huge union with my younger sister after the death of my middle brother that destroyed us. It created strength in our relationship and in the family and helped her to be who she wants to be, from the beginning and I always say the same thing to everyone who enters the world of kpop "me, first V.I.P before anything" and I will always be proud of it being someone who is passing 30 years

I rewatched this music video over and over again, and over and over again cried, this is not a song, this is their feeling, and successfully conveyed, the feeling of loss when hearing this song, without even knowing the meaning of the song. no matter how good the current kpop group is, Bigbang has never been replaced, they are true idols and musicians, each of whose songs is able to move listeners' feelings. no matter how many storms hit YG, I will be there to support them, all of this because of the big bang.
