When Jas said dont leave us at first, I cried too because that was also my way of thinking when I played the MV when it dropped. For most long time VIPs, we've seen this group go through everything and grow with them too. The MV and lyrics is like a camera roll of memories we have with BIGBANG while at the same time leading us to a new chapter of their lives. This is like an Ode to our Youths. Each of them has a story to tell on their parts but for me, TOP's part is so emotional, symbolic, and just a cathartic release. The way he removed his mask after the lines and while singing "For Life" is like him showing the k-media platforms who censored his face with towers for so long that he is back and he doesnt need to hide his face anymore. For years, people has condemned him for the past issues and even used his good looks as a weapon to attack him to the point he needs to hide his face all the time. I just realized something! Omo! Thats why the song is called "Still Life". If you look it up, Still Life is a genre in the arts. A painting or drawing of objects like flowers, etc. Its like Bigbang wants to capture their years as Bigbang and preserve it in a painting, but in this case, in a song. Its impossible to control time as it passes by, but you sure can preserve it. I want to cry more!!!!!! kings!!!!
The Korean song title "봄여름가을겨울" means spring, summer, autumn and winter and the lyrics are about the four seasons. In the MV, the four sons of BIGBANG were shot separately in 4 scenes. Just like the four seasons can't get together. One of the member will probably be absent forever but his position is no one can replace.
When Jas said "don't leave us" my tears started to fall. Being a VIP waiting for their comeback for almost 5 years without any assurance, with all the controversies, it's never been easy. And them coming back is like seeing a light at the end of a dark tunnel. There might be new groups, new stans to come but Bigbang will forever be the ultimate group that I will support and will never ever get tired of.
I am so impressed also at how cultured GD is in the way this song was written. Look at the lyric's reference to Shakespeare's "a midsummer night's dream" in the song. One of the lines in that play is "By the dawning of a new day, the night and its discord has resolved", consistent with T.O.P's burying his anger in the past and resolve to become a better person. The references also to Vivaldi's classic concerto Four Seasons and Tchaikovsky's The Seasons blew my mind. How genius of GD to bring classical music into the rap world. Shish. Bow down to the KING!
I was literally like Jas and Andy when i watched BIGBANG’s comeback song Still Life…. I just dunno how many times I kept on replying the video and scream my lungs out…. It was a mixed emotions that I can’t believe we’re finally seeing them with a new song for the longest time hoping and praying that this day will come and it finally did…. I just realized that Taeyang's outfits and scenes could be directly related to the scripture on the wall. "Thou hast turned for me my morning into dancing. Thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness" We see him with the lamb and later he's dressed in all black. The lamb represents Christ and a sackcloth was a garment made of black goat hair worn during times of mourning. He relied on his faith to get him through tough times and sure enough he's dressed in white at the end signifying that he is no longer mourning, but a person filled with gladness.
I always thought the lamb was his son and he is happy and content surrounded by yellow flowers (vip) . He is sailing , content, white sails flowing because he is not stuck.

I really respect vloggers who does their own research and really digs in the meaning of the song than just purely reacting to it. You two have my respect. You explained it perfectly esp TOP’s part. Its my favorite and for some people they find it odd that he was wearing that bunny mask, but he’s always been artistic and intelligent so I’m sure there is a meaning behind that.

I feel like this song is Big Bang’s swan song. I think they don’t want to promote as four, and I feel like seeing everyone turn on Seungri has soured some things for them, especially with fans who abandoned him. Many people have strong feelings about what Seungri has or hasn’t done (personally it all felt like a witch hunt by the police and media using Seungri as the big shiny focus to get the public to ignore the corrupt officials) but to Big Bang, he’s their maknae and has been a little brother to them and still is, I’m sure. T.O.P has said things about not wanting to promote in Korea anymore, and that a couple of them have done solo things but nothing else together speaks volumes.

Just gonna add another theory about the four chair which has the same meaning of what you have already said in the video. But here it is, we can see those four chair put together symbolic to the ride that they have been through while sitting on it together in their youth days, but in the MV they did not sit on that chair anymore which means that they are now going on seperate ways and do their own things. But you realise that the chair was never taken away and just stood there meaning that whenever they feel like they are coming back for the ride, they are going to sit on that chair again together. Here is what I thought about the chair. So to conclude this up, this song is not a goodbye song but rather just a song for closing their past chapter and start a new but in their seperate ways. Still, whenever they feels like they want to make another bigbang project they can all meet up again.

Thank you for the video. Your video is so healing…I’ve been sad and crying these days for not seeing Bigbang as a group in the near future like I felt sad even much worse than for a break up. It is hard to let go the good old times with Bigbang like they are literally my one and only music group since middle school. Now I feel somehow blessed that they are still there living their beautiful lives together with us. Guess we will meet Bigbang again someday and we’ll both become better people while waiting for that beautiful day to come.

Not a hardcore VIP just a casual YG stan but been into kpop since 2009 because of Daesung when I watched him in Family Outing. I’ve seen the ups, the downs of this group & this song hits HARDD. What they have been thru especially in 2019 when YG as a whole was witch hunted by kmedia & everybody said it was the end for them 😪 Those were some dark times. When Jas said "don't leave us" my tears started to fall. Being a VIP waiting for their comeback for almost 5 years without any assurance, with all the controversies, it's never been easy. And them coming back is like seeing a light at the end of a dark tunnel. I am so impressed also at how cultured GD is in the way this song was written. Look at the lyric's reference to Shakespeare's "a midsummer night's dream" in the song. One of the lines in that play is "By the dawning of a new day, the night and its discord has resolved", consistent with T.O.P's burying his anger in the past and resolve to become a better person. I feel like this song is Big Bang’s swan song. I think they don’t want to promote as four, and I feel like seeing everyone turn on Seungri has soured some things for them, especially with fans who abandoned him. Many people have strong feelings about what Seungri has or hasn’t done (personally it all felt like a witch hunt by the police and media using Seungri as the big shiny focus to get the public to ignore the corrupt officials) but to Big Bang, he’s their maknae and has been a little brother to them and still is, I’m sure. T.O.P has said things about not wanting to promote in Korea anymore, and that a couple of them have done solo things but nothing else together speaks volumes.

But here it is, we can see those four chair put together symbolic to the ride that they have been through while sitting on it together in their youth days, but in the MV they did not sit on that chair anymore which means that they are now going on seperate ways and do their own things. But you realise that the chair was never taken away and just stood there meaning that whenever they feel like they are coming back for the ride, they are going to sit on that chair again together. Here is what I thought about the chair. So to conclude this up, this song is not a goodbye song but rather just a song for closing their past chapter and start a new but in their seperate ways. Thank you for the video. Your video is so healing…I’ve been sad and crying these days for not seeing Bigbang as a group in the near future like I felt sad even much worse than for a break up. It is hard to let go the good old times with Bigbang like they are literally my one and only music group since middle school. What they have been thru especially in 2019 when YG as a whole was witch hunted by kmedia & everybody said it was the end for them 😪 Those were some dark times.
