Love the cube reviews. I have it on while working on my own cube, it's great! Even though not all the cards are the same, there's still enough overlap in ideas and also specific cards that I get a lot out of the discussion of each card, that I can use for making tweaks on my own cube. Great work as always guys
I like team draft a lot but I also just play a lot of other board games where you're drafting against the players you play against and some amount of hate drafting is important. Agricola is my favorite game and it has this in spades. The added strategic aspect of having to consider not passing key combos is intriguing, and having to make combos out of less obviously synergistic pieces is also interesting. It forces you to play a wider range. It also adds a lot agency to your draft success, since you have significant impact on not letting other players get degenerate nonsense.
I think just in pod drafts are so much more enjoyable imo as you have some more controll over things imo. never tried a team draft but it looks like a ton of fun for sure adding even more than a normal pod draft.
At some point, looking at an opponents hand got a bad reputation since its not card advantage (though that's partially due to people trying to play cards like Telepathy...). It's also a bit weaker in constructed or regular limited since the cards are more "all the same". But in vintage cube it really really shines.
I think LSV is down on Clique because he plays a lot in teams and with people he knows, where he has more information about opponents that you normally wouldn't have. In a random queue with random people, in a format with a lot of two card combos, getting information has real value. Oh and clique attacks for 3, and can draw you a card too.
18:52 Well, white has fast removal and early game , blue does the control and flyers, not to mention some of those flyers tap, destroy tapped creatures and blink. Cooped up Glass casket 1 and two white exile enchantment I forgot the name, these take care of almost anything and you could add the Princess to the total. Then mix it with control , add those flyers into the mix. I did this multiple times. You are putting down the 2/2 2nd turn and either camp with your Hatchling Ice Out combo or go straight into Princess and take 'em out one by one every turn. I hate it until the extermination of rats complete then comes the birds of prey.
lol, I mentioned this on one of LSV's shorts a while ago - I'm in for blue white if I open the wrath or Hylda. I see Paul opened the wrath. Woo! I actually found that they are correct the archetype isn't tapping. But it also isn't midrange control. It's a very loose ETB archetype. The idea being you can play stockpiling celebrant to sort of do a slow double roll of hopeful vigil or sharae, as well as the 1 mana faerie. HOWEVER, if you open Hylda, then are strictly the tap theme, and in that case, I'd be looking at ways to scry and draw cards so i can find Hylda. In all scenarios, you really want threadbind cliques though.
I find myself in black red or black blue the vast majority of drafts because bombs aside i value removal over almost anything. I usually perform well but feel like maybe im hamstringing myself. How do you weigh good removal vs a good green or white deck enabler? Or am i doing it right and should just bail if the colors close off?
I find this topic very interesting because I view it as the strongest way to draft which is interesting because you see plays and ridiculous combos you didn’t know where possible.
Something to think about is that even in regular draft you are fighting over the good picks, so in a way people are hate drafting by picking cards that enable a good wheel or trying to figure out the signal and manipulating the color that is being cut
kinda weird when yolu are doing vintage cube reviews when it's not on magic online right now, i mean I know team drafts are kinda popular right now but i feel like the average player is not going to have the card pool to play it.
Love the vintage cube content! And thank you lsv, didn‘t know the format before you - and watched all your vintage cube draft vids since then.
24:55 The vintage deep dive begins
These episodes are soooo goated. Absolutely love them. Cheers guys!

It’s coming back next week and LSV posts videos every day. I played vintage cube 5 times this week.
Maybe I’m a boomer but I wish the content was not vintage cube related
"maybe I'm a boomer but I wish the content was not boomer magic related"
Maybe I'm A boomer but not all content needs to be for you.
I only care about vintage cube. -a boomer
I don't play vintage cube but it's the most fun thing to learn about for me
F off, OG cubers have been waiting impatiently for this content. Your boring standard limited can wait
