Also, if you want to get the flutters back, you have to remove the additional stabilizer bar, which is unique to this trem. That additional stop bar allows you to do double stop bends without having to bend both strings to compensate.

      @TavaresProject 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Exactly. I did that to mine and it will flutter for days. Easy to do and this is as good as the original edge bridge... IMHO of course.

Was literally going to say the same thing, it was the first thing that came off my RG2550 (however I think that has a slightly different bridge), torque up the whammy bar screw up and it’s solid fluttery fluffness!

If you remove the Stop Bar and the two Springs holding the Stop Bar holding the block at its 0 point the bridge will become floating and you can flutter

Agree, just remove the ZPS posts and it’ll flutter until tomorrow. That affects the tuning stability slightly so it’s a trade off.

I really like the Ibanez. I’ve been playing the JS series almost exclusively for the past 10 years so I really miss my RG’s. This makes me want to put a few of them back in the hot rack.

@@loukas2711 I have an old RG560 from 1991 I think and I played the crap outta that think back in the day. I retired it because somebody tripped on the cord dragging it off the stand ultimately breaking the headstock right where they all break where the locknut screws go thru the neck.
You’ll really like the JS models. I have three so far. I just ordered the JS2480MCR with Sustainiac. I’ve never had built-in Sustainiac before. It should be here in about 5 more days so I’m pretty dang excited.

Those js guitars you have sound amazing though I really do wish that I could play one. I might go to Andertons soon so I might play one there because I got my rg550 off there and there was a js there but i was stupid and I didn’t ask if o could play it😭 but I do know I’m not getting a new guitar anytime soon i can’t make the money to get a guitar like a js because im 15 and I saved for 2 years to get the rg550 alone

In my opinion what matters is the quality and the build of Guitars.
I don’t think i can say one is better than the other. Well Kiesels do great fret work, the fit and finish is excellent.
But in kiesel, is it kinda like a thing that when they say “thinner neck” option, its not as thin as they say?
It really comes down to what your preference is. You can't go wrong with either.
Both sounds awesome to me 🤙🏻

    • @McRocklin
      @McRocklin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah Kiesel’s thin profile isn’t quite Ibanez thin, but it’s perfect for me. It’s a great shape neck that works for riffs, shred and chord work.

My vanquish has a pretty damn thin neck. It's not Ibanez prestige thin or Jackson thin but those are way too slim for the average player it seems in the first place. So it kind of meet somewhere in the middle

  • @fredzeppelin3969

One caveat about the cheaper stamped tremolos. With hard use, the knife edges will quickly get boogered up, and they can't be replaced like the inserts in the Lo-Pro Edge. You would need to replace both the posts, and the entire tremolos stamping.

    • @warhead5809
      @warhead5809 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Exactly. And another stupid thing Ibanez did here was to make the edge zero II non interchangeable with OFR or any other Edge bridge, so you can't even upgrade it without removing the bridge mounting posts, filling the holes, drilling new ones with the correct spacing...

I just bought my first Kiesel and it's such a solid guitar and I really like the neck. I've only had it about two weeks but it's so good I have a hard time getting into playing any of my other guitars. One thing I noticed that makes a huge difference is how on this string-through- body CT6 the Tune-o-matic style bridge has been recessed some into the guitar body and it allows the strings to be that much closer to the body and it's just easier overall to play.

yeah the flutters, I think the bar is to loose. Back to my Jiva story I posted earlier. Because the collar is on so tight, it does flutter, only problem is, is the arm is tight so it stays in whatever position you put it in, moving it on the fly is not as smooth as I'd like it to be. But if you have it back, it'll flutter all day like my original Edge. My biggest issue w/ the zero 2 are the insert blocks, their super narrow where you put the string in and you have to line it up just perfectly when tightening it, my 3rd string G really has a hard time locking down in it. But like I said since my collar of the bar is so tight, it does flutter for days.. I guess this comparison would really come down to "feel" since they both have Fishmans that sound pretty similar to me.

  • @davidletterboyz

Late to the party but you can take out the stabilizer, put a full size block on, and just run 2 normal springs. I did that on my Premium and it made a world of difference. The route is too shallow for a normal claw so you have to use the sideways claw already in there but it works, plus a full size brass block makes the guitar better all around. A little bit of work but I reallllly hated the ZPS system.

I had the RG7PCMLTD, but I just couldn't jive with the stock Dimarzios it had (all mids) and I really don't like the bridge on these guys. I'd rather have the low-pro edge. For the price it was hard to beat, because it was so out of spec for Ibanez! Incredible 11 piece neck, stainless steel frets, tri color fade...all things I wish would come out of the prestige line.
I sold the guitar, which I kind of regret. I could have lived with the bridge and just swapped the pickups. Live and learn.

I have that same guitar. I agree the bridge isn't the best compared to an Edge. I also ended up swapping out the pickups for a set of Dimarzio Blaze pickups and wow what a difference. I have no idea why they chose to put the Dimarzio PAF pickups in that guitar. I would've expected them to put in a Tone Zone and Norton to match the 6 string version but no they put in the weakest 7 string pickups that Dimarzio makes.

tip for flutters with the ibanez trems, take the stabilizing springs off (not to be confused with the normal trem springs). They exist to make tuning easier but they make flutters not work properly. I think it will help with the articulation issues your describing too .... When you're playing out-loud in the studio does it sound as good coming out of your studio speakers as it does in this video? I have Archetype Petrucci, and when I first got it I noticed the sound wasn't really the same quality that I'd been hearing in the TH-cam Reviews. It sounds decent when coming out my MacBook speakers, and ok when through my £100 Bose Companion 2 speakers. But no where near as good as the Plug ins sound on other TH-cam reviews.

Clearly the Ibanez is a much brighter guitar but you have different pickups in them. It also doesn’t matter because Thomas you’ve drenched your tone in effects and we can’t really hear the guitar at all. I believe the fretboard radii is ever so slightly flatter on the Kiesel so it’s easier to play that big stretch chord. String spacing too, should be narrower on the Kiesel.

It sounds too bright to me? And I hate the Ibanez trems. I have an original late 80's RG550, and I always hated the way the trem felt, and the fact that the arm just kept dropping down, no matter how many new bushings I put in. It's got a Schaller trem now, and it not only feels much better, it sounds amazing! It sounded like a really bright Strat better, now it sounds like a monster! I've shown it on my TH-cam channel.

Brightness might be more to do with you not liking my tone. I haven’t tried one of those trems in a while, heard good things though. Cheers!

Given enough distortion, reverb and delay, they all have a tendency to sound great, right?

I'm in love with the LTD, but I want a blue one. I've watched every vid I could of it & it's really snappy with the stock DiMarzios. That's the Ash. The Wenge to my ears sounds like RW & with the Ash it just has a great snappy 80s tone. Both guitars sounded the same, but those Fishmans changed the tone on the LTD. They sound good, but it took the snappiness away.
Neck shape does matter & it's all personal preference. I have an EGEN8 & it's very close to my old Jem. The EG has a Wizard III The LTD is 1mm thinner, so I'll have to play it to see if I can cope with it. The nut is still 43mm & I don't like anything narrower.

I bought an RG Premium on sale a couple years back...25% off, which is practically unheard of, where I'm from.
But I wound up taking it back.
I felt conflicted on the tone. I felt it was too polished, and "hi fi", where I really like the grungy, raw sound from Gibsons..
As well as it could do lead, It couldn't do rhythm.
I had never really had any superstrats before.
I've since gotten a Charvel DK24, which doesn't have that "hi fi" thing I didn't like. It's voice is a bit more raw. A clear, scream, rather than a sanitized hi-fi laser point..
But....with all things guitar..I got post return regret...
And whenever I'm reminded of it...like here today, I kinda kick myself.
On its pro side, it had SOOO much going for it!
The 11 piece neck (same as that one), the stainless steel frets (like glass)...even the inlays...proper mother of pearl.
Too many awesome features to mention...
Yeah...lll be replacing that RG someday soon!!
I have come to realise that every guitar I own need not "define me as an artist".
For one...I'm not really an artist! Certainly not a pro artist!
And two...I'm allowed to have a range of instruments I like for different things...
I thought the tone was too "1980's"...."Days of Thunder"...and perhaps it was... Idk anymore...
It's forever doomed to be a case of either post purchase dissonance.....or post return regret... 🤷
One thing I can't deny, though, is that Ibanez Premium was the highest quality instrument I have ever owned. 😥

    >>> 🏆 OK and Thank you for this demo, much appreciated, Thomas ! IMO, Over-All... The one guitar that sounded, well-rounded was...and I am surprised to say it, The Kiesel had a more satisfying mid-warmth too it, than the Ibanez voiced ( The Ibanez trem is a different issue or flaw, that just doesn't cut-it...OMG that was sad ) I feel that the Kiesel is the better choice over-all, with a versatile ability that the Ibanez didn't express, leaving the Kiesel alone to claim it's Winner's Badge, in this battle! However, your final comparison of the two could have gone both ways for me, and that would depend on what a piece of music called for and either one them could be a qualifying candidate.... Thanks again.. Thomas - Cheers

I totally get what youre saying. That era from 2012 to 2017 wasnt really the best for ibanez. The prestige series came with a little bit of issues, and the premium series came with a bang.
BTW just remove the extra bar of the Zero Point System and its gonna be fine. The Edge Zero is as good as a 1000 series Floyd Rose even without the ZPS.
Altho it is a good bridge, fortunatelly the premium and prestige are getting the original edge and the lo pro edge, basically the best 2 bridges ever made.

He hasn't been able to test the Neural DSP Quad Cortex yet, but I get the impression that it doesn't respect the sound of the guitar at all. I think there should be a lot more difference in sound between the two guitars. It's what I like most about Boss GT1000. The same preset with two different guitars are two completely different worlds and with neural the difference is barely noticeable.
