The best part about Xenogears is attempting to describe any component of it. "In this scene, a zombie-hunting Scientologist, a self-doubting sky-Nazi and [REDACTED] simple country doctor attempt to stop the Scientologist Red Skull from stealing a naked troll doll made of nanomachines but are attacked by murderous Panete hair advertisment kung fu master cosplaying Evangelion."
Yes, Xenogears is well designed game in storywise. They even have spoilers in the start, that you don't notice until 2nd playthrough ,like Grahf's gear watching you ect. It's like game developers had really good time making this game, like they should.
the secret to all of the old style RPGs boils down to one simple word "Grind" , then it is just a matter of maintaining about 3 saves. 1 for right after the hardest battle you fought recently, 2 for your grinding sessions, and 3 for your regular progress save. So if you ever run into a fight that is to hard simply load to the most recent point where you can Grind levels. No game is impossible when you figure this out. It is intended for many of them not to just run through them.
And if you see clearly, he doesn't even have a defeat animation, he's just standing there and simply disappears so that the screen can make zoom to your team and show the results
This game was waaay ahead of its time. The whole ideaology behind the game is about religion and sense of self. This game touched on alot of serious subjects and the music and themes brought this game together to tell a story of people trying to find their way in the universe. I found this game to be a masterpiece of art
Pretty much. Id DID destroy the entire continent of Elru singlehandedly and wiped out an entire race of demihumans in the process (Dominia's subspecies). Trading fisticuffs with the heroes at this point wouldn't even make him break a sweat.
I have played through many legendary RPG's.. but my ultimate all-time favorite is Xenogears.. if Square ever did a remake on Xeno my only dearest wish is that they completed the game.. everyone who has played through knows the "storyline rush" right beginning on the Disc 2.. it is most part like reading a book.. nothing wrong with it.. but I just want to see Xenogears as how it was meant to be.
None of which did Xenogears justice. Xenosaga got cancelled, just as it was getting closer -- ffs! After so many failed attempts, I'm sad to say that I really don't have much hope left for a real sequel to Xenogears.
@Dengakuman22 That's the complicated thing about Id. He believes he has the right to destroy things, but the part of his subconscious that remembers Emeralda still believes he has ownership over 'his' child. That's actually fairly common with serial killers.
Xenogears is my favorite RPG of all time, but it did have some flaws. Still, it's like complaining the best tasting cake in the world has a flaw in the pattern of the icing. A remastered version with some balancing of the characters/dblows and adding an additional quest involving Rico in mid/late game would have been nice. Also, a super dungeon at the end game (Elly allowed), allowing free map control in between stories in 2nd disc, and no more permanent missable items would perfect the game.
I remember the battle with Id being either very easy, or soul-crushingly painful depending on what the AI did during the fight. If he got lucky and kept dodging Deathblows and opted to ignore the party-damaging blackhole-move in favor of using his two actions per turn as Deathblows on the weaker party members, then it was basically reload and hope the AI is merciful on you.
As deadly as Citan is, I found him inferior to Fei and Adult Emeralda, especially when farming dragons on the desert area, as those two are the only characters who can inflict Light damage and Fei for Dark damage (Emeralda's dark attack is size-limited). However, against the Bloody Brothers in Solaris, Citan was required as both survived multiple Deathblows by a hasted Citan who was attacking so fast that his bar would recharge almost instantly after every Deathblow.
@Hells616 It's a story choice for some people, actually. Who you chose iswho I chose as well and is the PERFECT team because it creates far more engaging diaolgue through out this dungeon. Citan and Billy, are good strategically for the reasons already stated, but they also make fore better dialogue. Elly is the LEAST important strategy -wise, since she's far weaker and can't heal like Billy, so she's just empty support. HOWEVER, you get a much more interesting dialogue when she's present.
@davedetrick Yeah man, just equip her with the Doubler, some Ether Stones then Power Magics on her Gear and she will be doing consistent "9999" Damage by the time your at Babel the second time.
@Hells616 You ain't Kidding about the Yimekei attack. While your strategy isn't quite the same as mine, I like what I see. I usually don't put much trust in those ether spells. But then again, seeing how you use, I'm taking mental notes, perhaps it's more useful than I realize. In RPGs I always tend to rely on the tanks and heavy physical attack aspects. Magic or likewise is mostly used for healing in my style. But you seem a bit more well rounded than I am.
This isn't such a good idea. Id is one of the rare enemies in the game that can dodge your deathblows. Seriously, you can whiff entirely. If the RNG gods are against you that day, you could end up blowing a whole combo and only land one or two. Not to mention Id can ruin your plans by simply knocking the charging party member out if he feels like it. Honestly, you're better off with Citan and hasting the party with Billy. Just wail on him with normal attacks, ready to heal with Billy, and he'll go down easily enough. If you're prepared. If you're underleveled and have been ignoring deathblow leveling, then God help you.
@@mr.battle20 I hear you, but this is literally my strategy every play though and it works like a charm. Of course haste, & bring billy for healing all three members to keep you safe as you build your combo gauge but I promise you it works. He doesn’t dodge much during a combo like he does when it’s just one attack. It usually only take about one full gauge combo from each character to finish him off. Team Citan, Bart, Billy sometimes Rico.
Hes easy though once you mastee deathblows. You would be surprised how low his HP is in this fight. They should make the game harder in the future to add more strategy and push the HP limit past 999. Wait what am i saying... wishful thinking. This company only cares about FF7. They ran out of ideas.
GOOD TIPS. If anyone gets stuck i recommend grinding in the hallways before this scene between the checkpoint and this event. Master the deathblows, repeatedly hitting triangle can be effective or mimicking the Deathblow patterns. One guy said he only had 2 deathblows at this point... seriously? By the time you enter the tournament in Aveh, Fei should have atleast Hagan which is Square + X attack, I managed to go as far as having the Tenbu attack which if i remember is Triangle + Square+X
This is one of the most memorable parts of the game for me. I'll never stop being bitter over tbe walkthrough I was using spoiling Id's identity though. It would've been much cooler if it left it to me to figure out...
You'll want Citan in your party, for his high HP and speed. And you'd want billy for his healing ether... Though his HP is a bit lower. My third party member was either bart or rico... and I'd try to build up AP for those long combo attacks. At least that's my strategy with a lot of boss enemies.
Good god, why would you put Rico in the party while on foot? He's pretty much the WORST fighter in the game. Completely crap accuracy and evasion, and his agility makes him the biggest liability. Even Elly's a more solid physical fighter than that clown. Actually Elly's a solid choice for this fight. She has a very high ether defense, which basically equates to Id doing about 1 damage with his ether attacks. Equip the best armor for her and even Id's deathblows should only do about 50 damage or so. Honestly, a party of Citan, Billy and Elly is probably your best bet. Bart is so-so. Rico is no-no. P.S. Building up combos is not a very good plan for Id. Normally it's a no-brainer to take down bosses with a string of combos. The problem with Id is that he's one of the few enemies in the game who can actually dodge your deathblows. Depending on RNG, you could end up whiffing a majority of your attacks, wasting a ton of time. Not to mention that Id randomly likes to knock out party members for the heck of it, rendering all your efforts in vain. Ideal strategy is to have Billy speed up Citan, then himself and the other party member if you can (though use him to heal if needed, as that's highest priority). Elly can help by tanking, as mentioned above. Just use deathblows as normal and you shouldn't have too much trouble. Unless you haven't been leveling deathblows. In which case God help you.
Probably more or less the same as for me. :D I don't quite remember who was in my party and what they had learned but I know that it wasn't much and that I got my ass kicked like never before... The video description here pretty much sums up the face I made back then when this fight occured.
Lol never knew their was a reviving item, beat the game then I learn about zetasol, got stuck on this part for a bit, character died was dead for me forever, then figure a way to murder him in 3 hit lol
but I have to agree also that companies don't do changes when they just port the game on other consoles.. I know that I'am just having a childish dream.. but still we did get Duke Nukem Forever after waiting a decade and a half =D so maybe someday eh?
It really is a shame, but video game design just isn't the art it used to be. In the eyes of the designers, there's no point in making a well, thought out game that's truly beautiful if it means it will only appeal to a specific audience. They don't care if they sell mediocrity so long as they're making money on it. Gaming anymore, I just don't see much beyond the cheap thrills and fart sparkles.
Apparently its also why we were denied of a HD Collection for Xenosaga, due to them being to scared that the collection will not sell well due to the audience might not be interested or something. Which is probably why Xenogears has yet to get a remake/remaster too. Which is really bs honestly. They should remaster Xenosaga and Xenogears anyway.
TheGerogero If you've never played it, you're missing out on one of the best JRPGs ever. Xenogears is a classic, and luckily is available on PSN. So if you have a Vita, PS3, or PS4, you owe it to yourself to get Xenogears. :)

FF6 as well
I would rather they leave it as is and just completed the second disk. Liking your idea also.
No, monolithsoft should be making.
They would fuck this this game up tbh. This scene with Emeralda would heavily be censored for instance.
@@Arthirias It wouldn't need to be if it had the proper rating.

Id has to be my favorite character ever. Not even Thanos comes that close to being as badass as Id.

Hermitic Xenosaga got canceled? Didnt it end at 3?
It was supposed to be 6 games
I always use Billy's speed boost magic on Citan (who's already devilishly fast to begin with) the first turn. Makes the fight a hell lotta easier.
"Dropping a warship on me is cheating. Take it back!"
Most threatening boss music in the game, right here. Its perfect for this fight.
Fuck this game was awesome.
@davedetrick Elly with the Ether Doubler makes the game beyond easy. Her Aerods do massive damage too.
@Dengakuman22 That's the complicated thing about Id. He believes he has the right to destroy things, but the part of his subconscious that remembers Emeralda still believes he has ownership over 'his' child. That's actually fairly common with serial killers.
Citan Uzuki > Jin Uzuki from XenoSaga
Citan always reminded me of Egon Spengler

Id is the definition of Badass, thanks for sharing
Then Wiseman turns into Graff and proceeds to rip Id a new one.
The first time I fought Id, Citan only had up to Mufu, and Elly still had no deathblows.
Can you guess how the fight ended?
Ouch.
Remember to grind your deathblows, kids!
when id was doing these moves i was like "yo is this fucking wise man?" then wise man came through and i was completely shook
