Necrophagist is my top all time bands above all. They set the standads for technical death metal since the early 2000 and still no band managed to be so originally technical, fast, brutal and classical at the same time. I think I will get to my last days waiting for a surprise third album. My favorite song is everyone in anyone of the records but to pick one I'm going with "Ignomnious and Pale", I would describe it as the perfect order taken out of the perfect chaos.
i think the key is how they managed to make their sound so catchy. From a purely technical standpoint, spawn of possession is alot more intense, but necrophagist just sounds so damn GOOD
Onset to Putrefaction was written, recorded and released by Muhammed in 1999, it was remixed, with additional and better drum production and re-released in 2003, by which time Epitaph had been written and was released in 2004
A third album was apparently recorded around 2009/10 but was never released, aparantly it lies 80% finished and sits on a hard-drive somewhere. Muhammed now works for BMW as an engineer and is a living ghost. No social media whatsoever and no updates anywhere for over 10 years. The only interaction anyone has with the guy is when a fan randomly bumps into him and gets a photo for Instagram, that is literally it. There are a few phone recordings of ‘Dawn and Demise’ on TH-cam, which is a song supposedly on the third (concept) album.
This is in my top 5 technical/death metal bands. They are up there with "The faceless" and "Rings of Saturn." I missed seeing them at Summer slaughter 2008. They headlined at SS 2007 and 2009 in the US. Fermented Offal Discharge has my favorite solo of all time on it. My favorite tracks are Ignominious & Pale, Symbiotic in Theory, and Only Ash remains. Unfortunately they will probably never realease a third album, They have fully recorded a third album and it's sitting on a hard drive. From interviews from former members, Muhammad is a perfectionist and was extremely difficult to work with. Thanks for listening to this incredible band!!
Brendon, great comment my friend! I am gonna do Ignominious & Pale, for you, hold tight it's gonna be a week or two, but check back my friend I am gonna do it in your honor!
It's the full catologue, onset to putrification was originally recorded 100% by muhammed (guitar/vocals) and then he hired a full band for touring, and they rerecorded the album with a full band. Thats why the dates are all screwy
@@ShaneDiabloHey, you're a generous guy! I've been looking for a band to come close to them for a while. I really haven't seen anyone come that close. I guess Nile is pretty similar but also plenty different. For black metal, same with Immortal, can't find a band that's very similar. I don't wanna ask for too much but I highly recommend a reaction to Sons of Northern Darkness or any song in that album. They're legends of black metal. 🤘
@@DuderofDudeness yo you should check out the band Spawn of Possession, they are very similar to necrophagist especially their first two albums. I believe the rhythm guitarist from necrophagist is the main guitarist for Spawn of Possession, so another similarity there.
@@moomoojoos8849 Oh nice, ya I did, they're certainly and extremely talented. I just wasn't feeling the composition for the two songs I heard. What's your favorite couple songs?
@DuderofDudeness I would recommend "church of deviance" from their album cabinet, "lash by lash" and "scorched" from noctambulant, and "where angels go demons follow" from incurso. They are similar to necrophagist, but they do have more of a deathcore type style and in their last album they lean towards symphonic death metal. Don't know if that's your cup of tea, but I'm pretty sure you will enjoy a song or two at least. Have a good day!
its unfortunate he hasnt kept making music as a passion project even if they didnt tour, i guess singing songs about raping rotting bodies might tarnish his german mechanical engineering image
@@kernoleary1394from what I read in several TH-cam comment sections in few Necrophagist videos, some people say Necrophagist has issues in scheduling, Muhammed Suiçmez are hard to work with, there are no money to make in death metal, some say they got screwed by their music label, too many speculations, but I think Muhammed just had enough of this. Singing song about eating, slicing, raping dead bodies, with demanding insane Guitar playing and low growl regularly are not good for one mental health lol. Even Muhammed had enough with his band, he actually can make some money in TH-cam by teaching his guitar techniques and tutorial with tabs but he won't do it, so it safe to say he just didn't really care now what happened to his music
I get why they split up or why muhammed was tired of doing tech death for a living but I don't get why there is 0 communication between them and their fans. The guy is treated like a god in the death metal scene and we don't even get updates on social media or anything
@uroboric That's what most mysterious about him. Fans love him but he just gone like Avatar, either he just make his band like some side activities , left a legacy or just had enough. He reached peak of his own potential and woke up one day with thoughts on his head " I'mma troll my fans about 3rd album and disappear". No one knows except himself on why he just left without words.

SHOCKER: This whole thing was a polite yet VERY FIRM PASS for me, starting with the band name and the song title. Just not my thing. Mad skills on the playing, though, I will give them that.....
Althea, did you manage to listen to the solo? To my ears, the solo is a waterfall of color, completely in contrast with the heavy, grey colored riffs that occur before it. If you type in the song name, you'll find about 100+ cover attempts of the solo on youtube, all because it is so moving. Guitarists simply love the solo, and I do too!
The fact that this is from the 90's is mindblowing, the clean sound of the mastering, and the pure talent on the instruments is out of this world!
The version he's listening to, with much better production, is from 2004. The 1999 version sounded like this

Greatest guitar solo ever written
Can't name another song from them but this particular song been in my top 5 favorite solo forever
Stabwound is another classic
"symbiotic in theory" is insane
my favourite is probably epitaph
Advanced Corpse Tumour solo is another masterpiece, do check it out

I saw Necrophagist, the faceless and skinless in 2007 and it was one of my favorite shows ever. It’s insane how his vocals sound exactly the same live

Perfection! What a solo!
You've done stabwound and seven and now this they only released 2 full length album and there's 3rd unreleased album
I will NEVER forgive Muhammed for not releasing it! Dawn and Demise has been recreated by some guys and it's SUCH a good song.
