Thanks so much for taking the time to make these tutorials. I made my first hat and it’s perfect. I also just completed another one for my sister”s birthday - a request from her when she saw my effort. A great stash buster too!
Wow. I made your pattern- thank you for the download. You are an excellent teacher and did it with a professionalism that made a difference in the hat. You gave a lot of tips that an advanced sewist would use. Thank you.
Thanks so much for this fabulous tutorial! I used it to make myself a felt scarecrow hat for Halloween, but plan to come back to it to make a bucket hat for the beach, as well. You're a wonderful teacher!
The top of your hat pattern is oval. The human head is not a perfect circle. Your pattern fits so much better and looks better. Your instructions are very professional. Thank You
This hat turned out just the way I hoped. I drafted your pattern. Followed your excellent instructions and tips and now I have a hat that fits and I can wear. Thank you!
I just watched both the patterning and constructing and feel like you have the BEST videos. I asked my questions on the previous video so I'm just going to say THANK YOU here. Many Blessings to you! Now ill watch the single pattern piece hat video.
Thank you so much, with my small head I have great trouble finding the right hat... But with your expert guidance and tutorials I'm on a roll making quite a few.. That fit AND look good. No piece of material is safe at the moment 😂
This will be so great for me. I have really thick hair and most hats give me a headache. I have one that is adjustable but I really want want that truly fits my head!
I'm lazy. Rather than trimming 1/16 of an inch off the edges of the interfacing, I "drafted" (traced another copy of) the pattern piece and trimmed the 1/16 of an inch off that. Now all I have to do is cut the interfacing from the interfacing pattern piece, and I"m done! But I have viewed all your caps/hats drafting and constructing videos and got good info. I've already done flat drafting of clothing, so I understood what you were doing. I also have all the bells and whistles as far as equipment is concerned, so I'm now on my way to making hats. I'm in research and development, because I need to test the visors, and test the amount of "droop" for the newsboy hats. I've already tested brim sizes for bucket hats. I'm having a ball. I'm 84 from Tucson, and your fan.
I just found your channel in my feed today. Very professional, informative, and easy to follow and understand videos. Great drafting and constructing guidance. I'm a fan! Thank you!
Excellent instructions and visuals. I have watched tge pattern design, this construction vidéo and will, next watch the video to make modifications. I have followed many different patterns to make sun has for my granchildren and this is the best! Thank you for publishing such thoughtful and well produced vidéos!
Thank you so much for your great videos, you are a very good teacher and I enjoyed patterning and sewing my own hat for my son with the help of your videos. Thank you!
Instead of pins, you can often use quilt clips. Before sewing in the petersham, you can "swirl" it with an iron so it is curved. I found it amusing that one of the ads was for a bucket hat.
Thank you for a great bucket hat tutorial. Your explanations are on point. My question to you is this. What could I put on the outer edge of brim to keep hat from sagging down (blocking my view) but keep it taut all around. Also, what stabilizer/interfacing is recommended to withstand washing/cleaning. Thank you again.
I'm working on a video on how to stabilize to the outer edge of the brim. I use the pellon shirtmaker interfacing to keep the brim stiffer. Any laundering of the hat will need pressing after, but the interfacing is solid and holds well.
You can cut it along the length or width of the fabric, unless you stabilize it, you shouldn't use the bias. The width would have more give. Make sure you are stay stitching and clipping to get the tip on the crown.

An awesome presentation. You are very professional in your presentation abilities, very well instructed. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Concentric top stitching the brim looks way better than a spiral!
You can stitch it how you want.
Thank you for a great tutorial!

Awesome video thank you
Amazing, thank you
I wasn't able to find petersham for my hat, but was advised that cotton twill ribbon also works. What say you?
Yes, it will work for the bucket hat. For other hats, it won't shape as well though.

Please see this video for how I stabilize the edge during construction: th-cam.com/video/-jsJ4z8E28s/w-d-xo.html
Thank you
Thanks.
Please how do we get a pattern
好棒🎉🎉🎉
Do you cut the crown rectangle along the grain, cross grain or bias? I'm having a hard time sewing crown to tip. Thanks!

@@StitchingVulture Thank you!
Thank you very much
Nice
Bucket hat being fast moving item, we make regularly at Tirupur
What width of petersham? Thanks!
I use #5 Petersham. It's 7/8" wide, but you could use wider.
How tall is the crown of the hat shown in the video?
The measurements and pattern drafting can be found here: th-cam.com/video/vzprB5VBprs/w-d-xo.html
@@StitchingVulture Thank you. Crown: 3 in. Sorry I missed that. Love your videos!
6:36 Why did you use straight scissors here and not Pinking Shears?
I don't find the need to as I'm just trimming the seam allowance to reduce bulk.
How far is the "pink" mark(from the hat brim)?.."You "forgot" to add the pink mark " measurement".
When you pink the edge, there is no measurement. Just stay within the seam allowance.
How do you make a pattern .
I have a video on making the pattern on my channel.
How to get the crown measurements
