      Hi Evelyn I found the answer to the question I asked you 6.28= 2pi r square. The formula for the total surface area of cylinder is SA = 2(pi)(radius squared) + 2(pi)rh, where r is the radius and h is the height.

    This is without a doubt the BEST tutorial I've watched on how to get a perfect fit and make a terrific bucket hat! I've never been good at math, and your explanation was exactly what I needed! I now understand that the 6.28 number you used to divide the head size number is the double of "pi - 3.14", but I just forgot how to use math to make a circle in the correct circumference! Thank you so much!

    π (pi) is a geometric constant approximately equal to 3.1416. A circle is made up of π x 3 (3.14 + 3.14 + 3.14). So, 2x is where the number 6.28 comes from.
