  • Old Fashioned Cooked Chocolate Frosting - Recipe
    6 teaspoons Cocoa Powder
    1 stick butter
    5 tablespoons evaporated milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    4 cups powdered sugar
    In a medium saucepan over medium heat melt butter, cocoa powder, evaporated milk and bring to a slow boil. Once the mixture comes to a boil, remove from heat. Add vanilla extract and stir to combine. Allow to cool about 5 minutes and add powdered sugar one cup at a time. Mix by hand or use an electric mixer (I use an immersion blender) until the mixture is smooth. Spread evenly over cake or cupcakes.Enjoy!

    My favorite cake gr I wing up was yellow cake with chocolate frosting, but instead of milk she used coffee. 😋

    I have been making this for over 60 years. Used to be on the cocoa box. I like it for fudge also, just cook a little longer.

      I don’t like real dark chocolate or runny frosting. Just me. Lol

      This is my family’s favorite chocolate icing/frosting recipe. We too prefer more of a milk chocolate flavor as opposed to dark chocolate in this recipe application. It’s so easy but has so much flavor! A perfect addition to anyone’s icing/frosting recipe collection! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts. 😊Have a blessed weekend!!!

    My mom made a similar cooked chocolate frosting, and would spread it over spice cake. So yummy! ❤

    That looks good. Don’t apologise for licking the beaters, you’re just testing to make sure your frosting is good enough for guests. 😀

    6 teaspoons is the same as 2 tablespoons to save you some time there lol

    Looks delicious! Will this be enough for a two layer cake?

    • @stephsstovebystephaniethom7249
      @stephsstovebystephaniethom7249  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. My grandmother always made it as a layered cake. It is also great for cupcakes. However, it doesn’t seem to go as far when I make cupcakes because we pile the frosting up super high! 🤣 So glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching and I hope you have a blessed weekend!!!

    I tried it but I used real butter and it wouldn't mix. It turned our clumpy the butter wouldn't mix

      I’m not sure I understand since the butter is melted as the mixture is cooked. However, if you are referring to when you add the powdered sugar, it is necessary to beat WELL for the powdered sugar to incorporate. You may even want to use a hand mixer for this part or immersion blender. Thanks for watching and I hope this answers your question. Have a blessed day!!!
