The female singer is Paula Cole, who had her own big career in the '80's. She joined him for part of the tour.
That's was all of his band... live performances from Peter are productions. Always incredible... you have no idea... I hope you keep going down the Gabriel rabbit hole, he's a ground breaker in many different ways. Bear in mind he's gone through many different periods, styles... a huge influence in bringing world music to a wider audience. He's kinda like the Picasso of rock. That drummer is Manu Katche, one of the greatest drummers on the planet btw... same goes for Tony Levin, one the best Bassist there has been.

I got to see Gabriel on the So tour in 1986 at the Fabulous Forum in LA (So was the album this song came from originally) at the urging of a friend, who was very much into the live music scene at the time, and knew exactly which bands were great at putting on live shows, versus some who were maybe great in the studio but not so hot to see live. Wow, what an experience - by far, the best concert I ever attended, and I saw some great shows by some great performers over the last 40+ years. Absolute legend.
Oh, I love Peter Gabriel. Though they have a different sound, Peter is very much like David Byrne, in the way they are both more than just musical artists. They are also visual artists, and lean into performance art. Peter has always been very involved in humanitarian work, associated closely with Amnesty International and fighting for human rights. He has always sought out and promoted musicians from around the world. An incredible man. This performance is from the Secret World Tour and was his best, imo. The film of the entire show is definitely worth watching. There’s just no one like him.

Secret world concert is the best for Peter Gabriel.
This was his regular band with additional singers for this tour. Really elaborate staging, just so well rehearsed, and it was a 2 year long tour. It's a great album and dvd.
Peter Gabriel is fantastic. He was so unique. Nobody has ever done what he did, before or since ‘Games Without Frontiers’ gives me chills.

I'm getting tears in my eyes whenever I see this (for years now) and the drummer, Manu Katche, played a long time with Jan Garbarek, who does some strange kind of jazz
Shout out to Tony Levin, one of my bass guitar heros. I find Peter is extremely generous, giving each and every person on the stage a chance to shine. One of the few artists that are really worth doing live, but do yourself a favour and check out the studio bersions too.
