Oh wow-Paula Cole is in this??!! Was just going to say out of the original Genesis group Peter Gabriel was always my favorite. He's brilliant and creates brilliant music, and this is such an incredible song! Had to stop by and see this one!

      Exactly,
Youssou was on 1987 concert tour...
Papa Wemba, on 1994 (this live), after it's select the guests..
once Taieb, once Yungchen Lhamo... artists from his label "Realworld".
This live 1994 is incredible.. musically and visually speaking !!

Yes, this is right. Tragically, Papa Wemba actually collapsed and died on stage a few years ago. On one hand, it is tragic and gruesome, but when you see the energy and love that man put into his performances, maybe it was something of a blessing that he died doing what he obviously loved so much.

Peter Gabriel and the WOMAD music festival was amazing. It was a major world music festival with Peter closing out the show on several stages of international music. The latter 80 s and 90 s saw many music festivals from this festival to farm aid, to Lilith festival to Lollapalooza, etc. This one was pretty exceptional and Gabriel demonstrated his wide range of musical influences in his band and his own musical sound. Love this song. The female vocalist here is Paula Cole who toured with Gabriel but also had a solo career.

I’m so happy you’re seeing this! It’s pure joy. Thanks, Phil! To me, it’s about looking into God’s eyes. I think Peter wrote this about actress Roseanna Arquette. She also inspired Toto to write “ Rosanna”. She has the most beautiful blue eyes.

Karen Nyere - you have gone down the "rumors" rabbit hole. Peter Gabriel has never confirmed that Arquette was the inspiration behind "In Your Eyes". And no, Arquette did not inspire Toto to write Rosanna. Arquette had gone out with one of the Porcaro brothers, Steve. David Paich & Steve Lukather wrote Rosanna & David said they needed a 3-syllable name & when Steve Porcaro introduced Rosanna A., the name fit. That's all. Steve Lukather has used some very choice words about how he is tired of the b.t.ch Rosanna Arquette riding their coat tails for way too long with this rumor & profiting. It really is sad how someone can start a rumor and then most everyone runs with it without seeking out the truth.

During the time Peter was going through a divorce, his youngest daughter Melanie, around 7 or 8 years old, was not able to understand why her parents were breaking up. She was hurt, confused and afraid and stopped talking to Peter. He wrote the song *COME TALK TO ME* to let her know that it had nothing to do with her, he still loved her so much. Years later Melanie became a singer herself, they are now close again and she joins him on stage to sing the song together. This one always hits me in the feels as I have daughters myself, the final moments of the song always get to me *COME TALK TO ME - LIVE WITH MELANIE GABRIEL* th-cam.com/video/4J1gWMLbV70/w-d-xo.html

THANK YOU!!! I'm So, SO glad you watched this version! Peter Gabriel has always been about World Music as well as making his performances a visual, as well as a listening experience. At the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, Peter Gabriel was designated as the 2006 Man of Peace for his commitment to human rights and for his outspoken rejection of war as a means to solve conflicts. He has another famous song about Steven Biko, here's a great live version that also uses clips from the motion picture "Cry Freedom": *BIKO* th-cam.com/video/luVpsM3YAgw/w-d-xo.html
