Iron Mike Sharpe was a top contender in the NWA before he came to the WWF and got reduced to "jobber" status in the WWF Shuffle. Sort of like Dolph Ziggler nowadays!

He would bring the x-rays to the arena but would never show them to the promoter - not sure why..........

@tornmask Actually The Masked Superstar did wrestle in the old WWF. He was managed by The Grand Wizard(early 80's). He wrestled Bob Backlund for the title. He came around in the last days of old school Kayfabe before McMahon jr. took it to the cartoonish "Hogan era" level.
It was Superstar that softened Backlund up, he'd had a series of title matches and "injured" Backlund's neck with a spinning neckbreaker on the floor if my memory is correct. Iron Sheik may have inflicted more damage with the clubs after that, you're probably right. In hindsight, Backlund was being set up to lose the title and not look weak, just in case that Hogan experiment tanked.

Masked Superstar had such class, Axe I never liked and when I see his shoots interviews I don't like him.
