I bought one when they first came out and have never had fitment issues. I have roughly 10,000 rounds through various platforms with this dot installed, and it has never failed me.
CLARITY CLARITY CLARITY!!! The glass quality on this dot shocked me. Yes there is a bit of blue tint but the clarity of the glass is sublime. No distortion that bothers me whatsoever. RMR sucks with that imo.
The PB3 is maybe the best bang for buck red dot on the market, regardless of platform. Its ergos and sight picture blows the Acro away and is even better than than the Steiner MPS (the Steiner is much harder to pick up the dot). Steiner is lower profile, but ergos are better on the PB3 (you can adjust the brightness IN a duty holster. The PB3 is also a tank. Thousands of rounds on multiple of these and they all rock and roll all day and don't lose accuracy. Only the RCR at literally 2.5x the cost is probably better as far as mailbox red dots go.
Another pro for the cross bolt footprint, specifically the Acro cut, is I'm 99% sure it can even be used on a slide as narrow as a P365. If i ever have the cash, I'd love to acquire a Macro and get it cut for that.
How is the reticle clarity on this? With the LP1 it was the only red dot that was crystal clear with my astigmatism/kerataconus. Even at max brightness which was retina blinding (I regret selling it, but vet bills happen) Despite the drama. I had no issue with the owner, he was very helpful and accommodating. Also he took care of me during freedom week. 👍
To me he's been nothing but solid. The issues that had happened in the past were unfortunate. I know what had happened, but was asked not to get into great detail. But it was just a misunderstanding. However, Ahmad shouldn't of engaged in any reply. Just let it slide and wait for the tides to pull the water under the bridge.
@@CaptDestro no need to apologize. I don't get in the way of other people squabbles. All I can do is say the experiences I've had and hope that people don't automatically call me a liar because of it.
This dot has made me realize just how much the optic market is a scam. Why are acros so expensive while providing a less enjoyable shooting experience AND have lenses that fall out. The PB3 seems like a well priced optic. That alone is tempting me to pick one up… Thanks for the review!
Mr. does, excellent review as always, thank you. I can’t count the times your reviews have helped me make a decision and ultimately saved me money from buying an inferior product. One small critique that I think is worth mentioning is that I don’t feel it’s fair to claim a certain optic or design is “rugged/bulletproof” without offering some sort of data point or proof so to speak to back up that claim. Far too often optics are described as having a durability quality to them when testing shows that claim couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s a very important apecg regarding optics so I don’t think it should be neglected entirely but stamping the “bulletproof” label on anything and everything just seems wrong.
Just looking at it they seem to be different, not the same situation as the Swampfox Kraken fiasco being equal to every other Chinese enclosed optic on the market. Different button placement, window size, and (what appears to be) a different mounting footprint.
@@mckadehansen7352sure but these are all things you can request from an OEM. They'll have a standard option (which is probably close to whatever swampfox offers), then you can add different things to the optic such as potting, upgraded electronics, different body styles, different lens finishes, etc. I don't see why lens shape or mounting style wouldn't also be available to change.
The MPS is the closet I've experienced to a video game floating crosshair. Unless distortion and tint is as bad as on the 509t-x2 (or worse, the 1st gen), it's negligible when transitioning targets at vastly differing distances.
A little late to the party on this vid, but I was an early adopter looking for a scope ring RDS for my PTR-91. I was originally using a 509t but didn't enjoy the mandatory use of an adapter plate plus the high deck height; it just messed with how I wanted to use the scope+dot. So with a larger window, an (advertised) lower deck height, Acro footprint, and an okay price, I bought a PB-3. 1000rnds of .308 later and its still trucking, so it works for me and I have confidence in it.
I just bought a 509t, but I strongly considered the PB3. I mostly decided on the HS because I have a 507c and 407c that have been rocking and rolling no problem along with a couple of 510s and a 503. I have an astigmatism, and even the red circle dot is crisp for me. That said, I now also kinda want to buy a PB3 and see which one might go on a Glock 17 gen4 vs RDO on a rifle 🤔
EPS have become my go to pistol optic. The glass is clear, image flat and dot crisper(astigmatism, although not bad, some dots look like grapes or circular swipes).
I have a Trijicon RCR on my 4” Compact PDP that I carry daily and use for competitions. I enjoy the optic, but its weird mounting system and intense image distortion have drawn me to look at other options for when I option out a dedicated competition pistol. The new enclosed SIG optics are what I was looking at for their aspheric lenses. I would be interested in seeing either of these optics up for comparison in your system. Thanks for the great video.
I need one of these. I hate how small my acro is. Looks like im looking through a straw sometimes. This dot looks way better especially for untrained dot users like myself.
What I dislike about the steiner are only 8 brightness settings. They have more NV, but if you lack that step one would like is annoying. Is the sig romeo x enclosed pro on your list? Great video. Pandora seems fish-eyed. All good features otherwise. I'll b on the look out for the next iteration.
The Steiner is notorious for its screw shearing. Happened to me and dot hit me on the head (see my channel for evidence). Apex makes a stronger screw. Steiner now has updated torque specs but they didn’t come with my dot. That’s a serious problem with the Steiner MPS. Great review otherwise! Thankyou!
It’s alright, i think the eps is a better buy. Smaller window then the eps, no brightness lock out, the emitter is nicer but for the price it’s hard to recommend
GEN 2?!?!?!? PLEASE TELL ME IT HAS A GREEN DOT OPTION! That was my only complaint about the first gen. I am one of the weirdos who prefers green dots. -_-
You aren't weird. Green dots are better for astigmatism. The human eye picks up green real easy. This means it's usable on a lower brightness setting. The lower the brightness, the less of an issue/blur/ghosting with astigmatism. I still get red dots, but green seem like a better compromise for my vision.
I’ll never support a company that threatens people with lawsuits who say negative things about their product. A company who buys and pays for positive reviews.
The size and shape of that is ridiculous. But. Some people will pay money to screw a cinder block to the top of their tiny pistol. I may consider trying it on something that stays in the gun safe if someone paid me a few hundred bucks and I wasn't required to be seen in public with it.
The company had some pretty gross behavior with Focus Tripp. They received an unfavorable review, and they tried to get him on the payroll in order to change his review, and when that didn't work, they sent him a cease and desist and posted a slanderous video on their channel. Embarassing behavior, and I'll be steering clear and recommending others do the same.
Be careful with using less reputable brands on carry piece. If the mechanical adjustment fail it would give false zero and might make you shoot a bystander instead of the aggressor target. Then is that less reputable company going to fold up and disappear when you need to sue? Maybe they will argue that their optic is marketed as strictly plinking range optic and has small print saying to not use for duty/serious use. Few hundreds is nothing compared to thousands of dollars in court cost, headache, suffering, etc.
I bought one when they first came out and have never had fitment issues. I have roughly 10,000 rounds through various platforms with this dot installed, and it has never failed me.
I think it was just tolerance stacking.
Also they made it right and offered either mating the optic to the slide, or modding the slide to the optic.
Finally! I've been waiting for this review ever since you mentioned it in the p2 video
Better late than never
I agree with many things stated here… main benefit of this optic for me is the 2032 practicality and battery life…
CLARITY CLARITY CLARITY!!! The glass quality on this dot shocked me. Yes there is a bit of blue tint but the clarity of the glass is sublime. No distortion that bothers me whatsoever. RMR sucks with that imo.
