The wife is a spoilt child, like so many of the people on this show. 😂
Watching Valerie’s face during the interview, you could see she she didn’t like the receptionists obvious skill and experience. She was jealous!
Valerie is impossible
That couple could make the Pope curse....lol
Valerie is so spoiled, dramatically commenting that the RSPCA would cart her off for "dead dogs" if she came into work one full day a week.
Valerie wants to do what she wants to do, when and how she wants to do it at her own whims, never tied down. But she wants to pretend around the hotel as the owner, operator, and all-around important person. She's annoyingly defensive and unrealistic, not to mention uncooperative. That scene in front of the employees was embarrassing, especially for the employees. The place is just lovely; they are definitely the problem. Why on earth would they mention anything even approaching negativity to guests?! I suspect because it's more about them in their minds than paying guests. And right there is the foundational problem.
Valerie is a spoilt princess!
Val didn't want to employee the experienced receptionist because she didn't want to be shown how to do it properly. Lucky for her she didn't get the job. The inexperienced one wasn't a threat to her poor ego. I will never understand people who don't want to hire the best staff to make their business shine and actually be willing to learn from them.
I worked for an insecure woman who worked for an insecure woman who were thrown by cordial competence but loved hot air being blown. They scapegoated/micromanaged a rotating group of innocent, hardworking staffers for the inevitable failures.
I feel sorry for their family who invested in the whole sorry enterprise. They must have been livid at how it ended
This was our local and preferred restaurant for family occasions in the 90’s. How the service and welcome has changed! Such a shame as it is a lovely establishment throughout…..
Is it still going ? Are these two still there ??
@@JVSwailesBoudiccaSurely they are long gone - you would hope!
I wonder how everyone else with pets and adult children manages to work.........
The hotel has new owners now.
The food still seems to be at carvery level, though. Harvester meets Beefeater - with curry nights etc. Looking at recent advertising for it , it’s not what I would expect from a four star hotel.
These two are embarrassing 🙈
Thank you very much for these uploads. Old ones I haven't seen - and I thought I'd seen them all.
this isnt the hotel inspector. she is a fake. get the real one
@@Finnegan-s-cake Ruth is actually the hotel inspector, the original! She paved the way for Alex. I much prefer Ruth to Alex, although Alex does a fine job as well. Many people prefer Ruth, and I can see how she may be an acquired taste, but to each his own.
Same here, this one is new to me
@@Finnegan-s-cake _Fake???_ 🤣 Ruth was the OG! She was The Hotel Inspector _Before_ Alex.
i think ruth is totally correct..well done
Love Ruth so much! Takes no nonsense whatsoever ❤
It is normal for little girls to go through a fantasy of being princesses and/or ballerinas. It is normal for little boys to go through a fantasy of being astronauts and/or engine-drivers. They usually grow out of this at around age-7. This couple never grew out of the fantasy of being hoteliers.
You can probably blame their families, who should have never given them money to start a business that they know nothing about😒
Are they real people .. they have no perception of themselves or the most basic business or common sense .. utterly shambolic
Thank you @inhighspeed for these new uploads - fabulous work!
These owners are horrifying. I pray someone else with the interest, spine, and professionalism takes that place over! Why, why, why do people call Ruth for help if they won’t take it?
they didn't deserve the help. Ruth should have left after a few days. And what a spoiled woman, she thinks she is better then all the rest. How are they be able to keep so much land and all of these horses?
They kept their own lifestyle because they used money from their families fr the hotel and threw it away.
Mater and Pater.
They are an odd couple. Why they bought the place is anyones guess! She doesn't want to go in the 'rota', what did she was going to do there?
It was a lark. Kind of like The Great Gatsby. Careless people love to be "free" and too bad for the people they affect.
She loves animals and keeps them in tiny cages?
Val gets away with everything because of her looks. She won’t bring another dollar into that family.
Oh I forgot - she makes rain.
These two proprietors don't realize that their success is based on hiring successful people. And putting their (HER) own vanity second. Conflict of interest: what Val wants and what Val gets!! (Doesn't include hotel obligations!)
I have to say this is the first time I've wanted the hotel here to fail.
Spoiled people playing with other peoples' money.
It would be interesting to see a ‘ new hoteliers school’ to try and drum best practices into new hoteliers - Ruth would be good at that !
How on the earth can they afford to keep stables?
Probably with the money their family invested!
Hanmer Horror
Ruth is the best .. chuck out the rest !
As an animal lover the horses look loved. Their eyes show it. Some people meant not be running hotels. I think she loves animals andthats what she should do
Valerie is sooooo annoying
Val is as ‘strange as a box of frogs’!
I’d much prefer a box of frogs!!
These people are pathetic and impossible. Wasted Ruth's time, no wonder she stopped after three years.
Oh my lord, the ever presenr electrical chord hanging down the wall.
Val is a liability with people ,but a real asset with animals!!!
Some lemon mouse with double cream is very nice
😂 I smell a rat here…
I hope they paid back their family.
Valerie love love love her animals....and that is what matters.....I love her for caring for the animals 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
You can play with your animals and ignore the business, but only WHEN you have a successful profitable business, and know the person running it very well.
Great vids but music on this one way too loud
Sorry, that's beyond my control. I hope you enjoyed the video despite this.
Ruth referring to "Churches" as effing, had me flabbergasted.
She wasn't referring to the churches, she was exclaiming at his ineptitude.
Very disrespectful
He was about to sell it as a tourist accommodation but, for local corporate clients, it's all about amenities.
I didn't get the same vibe
Why?
They lost 40% of their business in 1.5 years and yet, continue to reject Ruth's advice like they know what they are talking about 🤷♀️ 2 narcissistic people who crashed and burned their business. RIP to their family's money 😔
I watched this episode as a night cap. So it stays with me during my sleep. I woke up this morning realizing how utterly disgustingly decadent these two people are. Like aristocrats from the olden days. Let's try a folly ! Let us play with people, could be pleasant. We can afford it, will be something to do. No responsibility whatsoever for the investments made in the building of the hotel, the investment in running the hotel by the former owners and make it to a succes. The role it plays in the local community. No responsibilty for the lives of the people that work there and have their families to keep, No appreciation for their efforts. Disdain for the guests. All these people, workers and guests are a sort of boring things.
And after they gave up ? Oh well, its the family's money, not really our worry. It was not such a good idea after all, but no man overboard. Our life is excellent. Of course their marriage did not suffer, they never had any stress about the hotel or money. Just the annoyance that things were expected from them, like a child forced to help with the washing up. The relationship with the animals is not okay. It is a weird one way street relationship. I like the way Ruth sees through them and stays untouched.
They deserve to lose the business as they are indifferent to customers service
