Bud, thanks for sharing this. I had also watched your previous vid on rhe shafts & was glad you shared it regardless of the haters. Bringing attention of "what to look for" when you get a part in to make sure it's 100% good is great knowledge in my opinion & that's why I'm thankful that you took the time to make these vids! 😎 👍
Thank you for the support.. you would think that other larger channels who make a lot more purchases than small channels would encounter quality control defects a lot more often on their channel but you won’t find that because they don’t want negativity on their channel or criticism. Most bigger channels also do a lot of business with retailers and they have a good relationship or a friendship and they handle these matters over the phone with no discrepancies because they work together and there’s no need to put anybody on blast. I definitely didn’t intend to put anybody on blast or make anybody look bad, but at the same time it’s not too unusual to receive something that needs to be returned, and it will frustrate anybody. So the video was an opportunity to be honest with the public. However, I did learn a couple lessons from posting these types of videos… Which is basically waiting to cool down and not create content, while I am upset because it gives the wrong impression and it’s always good to contact the manufacturer or retailer and sort out the problem over the phone at least. That way when you create content you can at least explain what happened and how it’s being taken care of rather than ending the video with only my side of the story. This has helped me build better relationships with retailers so I guess it was a learning experience for all of us.
@@toysforboysrc Thanks, absolutely understandable. & agree. There's always going to be manufacturing errors, it's inevitable. As in the counter balancing will pull it to center I imagine you’re saying., idk bcs it was my first TP purchase but customer service was awesome. Yes I have the 1717/1650 and it’s a Beast! Not many motors can perform well on both 6s and 8s. Most 8s motors run poorly on 6s bcs there’s not enough voltage, but the 1717 runs great on both 6s and 8s. Btw I ordered my TP from Island Hobby Nut and it came within 3 days! Suuuper fast shipping and they have a great staff and support. They even carry Scorched parts too.
Thanks., but neither did I. It was my first TP motor so I was scrutinizing it and customer service was bliss.. Fast forward today, it is an amazing motor. Inner tolerances are still super tight. Regardless nobody has ever reported a motor failure due to inner tolerance issues or that we know of. But it’s good to get familiar with your rc cars.
That’s how I was able to see it visually but I first noticed when the motor would get bound up while turning the shaft with a small pinion in my hands. I never had a TP until then so I was being pretty observant.

Glad they stepped up for you. I’ve generally heard good things about their customer service. I ordered some of their carbon fiber GT side plates for my Typhon once and they were drilled backwards. Hi, it’s complicated… I “meant” to order it with an 8mm shaft but accidentally ordered one with a 5mm shaft. I like to scrutinize things that’s just me, so I could not resist making the video bcs eeeeevery body has a TP but I NEVER heard or seen anyone talk about what I was looking at and it started a storm of ppl worrying😒but half said that it will brake in after a while and to be honest I never seen or heard of a failure from this clearance stuff, but this topic could go on for ever🤷♂️.. anyway I continued to proceed with the return and when the identical motor but with the 8mm shaft arrived, it also had a super fine clearance and spun better but at that point I realized that that’s just how TP motors are and I stopped worrying about it so I didn’t mention anything to not sound like a Karen lmao or like the picky guy that I am, but that pays off with clients as I’m a perfectionist.
