Please please do something innovative for us high ceiling growers. I've got 12ft and besides my one attempt at a stacked grow like your old veg bathtub IDK what to do with it. Sidelight and suuuper tall trees?
My tuppence on points to cover, maybe worth it, maybe not? Going in depth on the planning with explanations on your reasoning and how it could apply in other scenarios could help folk in the planning stages (like you do with cobs etc). Too many skip it or spend too long and don't account for the future! Optimisation of space while allowing walkways, possibly vertical stacking given your height? Even vert stacking mother, clone and veg spaces can free acres of room (it's what I do) Another point on vert stacking is that drying spaces don't need to be big and with a bit of thought can be in the same room allowing easier odor control if needed (and fits perfect with my own vertical stacking) Sealing and venting of the area, Inc prevention of moisture affecting your houses structure over the longer term, again something not often considered but costly if it affects you. And maybe thoughts on venting via an ozone generator etc for 'discrete' grows. Thoughts on lung rooms or closets as part of the ventilation, pros and cons here. Air inlet filtration to prevent creepy crawlies getting in, I use panel filters for cars. Cheap, easy to get and work a treat. A few scraps of wood (or anything really) can make a nice holder where the filters slide in from the top for easy cleaning and changing Separation of the space for different light cycles etc even if its not in your plan, a few minutes on blender or some such to show simple models will be plenty tbf Importance of time saving things like having a faucet and a drain available in the room as an example, a small potting area with tool storage and spares storage etc and how important this can be when shit hits the fan aswell as the time savings involved Throw in thoughts for upcycling or recycling things for use in the grow room as not everyone can go new for everything, a whole room gets costly quick lol If you're doing more automation perhaps that can be a follow up series or finisher to the series? Sound control, again for the discrete growers or people in the next room even, grow spaces can get loud if you let them. Option of having all high voltage wiring and drivers in their own dedicated space, perhaps external to the room and the pros/cons (although I reckon you're gonna do that anyway tbf) I'll edit if I think of more
A note on lung rooms or closets I didn't include above (sorry been smoking 😁) Draw air in at chest to face height and you'll be able to see the filters for easy checking. The airs also warmer there helping to avoid condensation (sometimes). You can also preheat air entering the grow space or better draw it in from the house and its warm plus loaded with CO², the typical home has higher CO² levels than outdoors 😉 We all love spending time with the girls man but I think highlighting the importance of time saving measures and energy saving measures is pretty important. More time we save more we can spend doing the shit we enjoy. Look forward to the rest of the series
Hey buddy when. You set up your 110volt do a minimum of two runs one with a light switch or both this way when you go into film or do foliar sprays you can easily shut all the fans off without having to climb over anything I set this up in my new room at it has saved me alot of headaches

Looks like a good start on the room. I've done a few rooms and one thing I like to do with the lighting circuits is put outlets in the ceiling. That keeps the cords up out of the plants way. I use a 12 gauge wire with heavy duty 15 amp tamper resistant outlets (holds plug better) and they're actually rated for 20 amps. Same outlets that are used in kitchen counter circuits. Looking forward to more on your room and possibly adapting some of your work to future room builds that I do.

Will be following this for sure! Decided to finally ditch the tents and step up my game. My room is very similar in size...without the high ceilings😔. I already bought that same mini split. I think you can run a 15amp outlet on a 20amp circuit if you pigtail the outlets with 12/2 and use the screws, as the 12/2 doesn't push in the back of the 15amp outlets...

Just a heads up: choosing a 15A or 20A outlet is a small piece of the puzzle. Remember, for a 20A outlet, the wires going from the main panel to the outlet have to be sized correctly, in this case #12 wire. If the original outlet was 15A, it's likely it is fed with #14 wire and will only be rated for 15A, regardless of the rating of the outlet.

Hey Ju, I think you are right on the money! I figure you want about 350-400w per square meter, and you nailed it perfectly. Since you have (9) COBs, a little pro tip is to wire it so that your four outside corner COBs can be run (or adjusted/dimmed) to be a little more powerful than the central cobs. This way, you avoid light (PAR) drop off at the edges. If you are in a tent, you probably don't need to worry about this idea. Reflectivity should take care making the lighting even. Anyways, good luck with the build and Muito obrigado!
@@GrowMau5 Thanks for the tip , yes I'll be in a tent 3x3(80x80x1'80cm) , I divided them into three bars with three cob's in each , in a fixture of 73x73cm , on the sides with two clu048 (3500k)at the edges and the cxa2530(3000k) in the middle , and the central bar did the opposite, and both drivers are dimmable , I did the best I could with what was available here in Brazil, once again( eu que agradeço a você).

Love this content, just started my first grow. This is motivational, also beautiful grow rooms. Highly interested in attempting my first actual grow room construction.
I'm so glad I found this vid. I'm about to wall off a large 8'x12' section of my dirty, damp, deattached garage (house is not an option) and I have zero idea what I'm doing. Mostly, I'm worried the cost is gonna get high really quick trying to heat/cool this thing. Any pointers?
Btw, take it with a grain of salt but I was under the impression that the only time you are required to put a 20 amp receptacle on a 20 amp circuit is when you only have one Single receptacle on that circuit. For all intents and purposes, 15 amp receptacles can handle 15 true amps
It does feel kinda crazy, almost surreal. I had settled into this mindset of: "ill never have time to do this" I kept waiting to find the time or "make the time". Then realized, time has to been taken, its the only way. I think my priorities are back in balance. Cheers Toki, thanks for watching and commenting.
growmau5 that’s exactly what I like to hear man. You’re growmau5 not only because you help us be better growers but you help us be better thinkers. Cheers
@@tokimane5025 no offense but this is incorrect. The breaker must be the weak link in a circut. A 20 amp breaker is not suitable for a 15 amp receptacle.
I was thinking about one of the cheaper carbon filters & an adjustable HyperFan for the exhaust. But your comment got me thinking, I have no fresh air intake, and this room is turning out super sealed. Do you think it would be worth installing like a MERV11 intake grate?
@@GrowMau5 that's kinda what I'm thinking. Although are you in a cold climate? I'd be worried about having ambient outdoor air that could be freezing or near freezing causing a serious problem if vented in and not allowed to warm first. Maybe if you were to install some sort of negative intake system on to the house's current cold air return system? Maybe? I built your pH controller the other day, thanks again, it works incredibly well.
Yessir, Seattle. And that is a great point, I don't want to be pulling in air cold enough to create condensation. I like your the negative intake idea, from an adjacent interior room . Sadly, there is no central HVAC in my house. You got me thinking Matt, I'll be sure to cover this in the series. And I hope the pH controller works as well for you as it did for me. cheers.
When sizing circuits there’s an unwritten rule of only using 80% of the rated load. So a 20 amp circuit you don’t want to put more than 18 amp. That gives the room for surges and also most new breakers will allow for the surge as well. Just stay away from gfci and arc fault stuff.
Hey Steve, to be honest , it kinda pained me NOT to use hemp insulation for this grow. I probably could have found the budget for it at $2.40 a sqft for 2x6 R21. I went the lower cost route with this fiberglass at a little more than 1/2 the cost. It was the difference between $70 vs $120 for the hemp. I am planning a follow up video with viewer/commenter suggestions & I will be sure to mention this amazing suggestion . cheers and thanks for checking out the video!.
Haihai, Mugen with the 1200w chilled. Hella happy to see you dropping an advanced video to a proper grow room. Excited to see the room flourish :3 ::high five::
It would be great if you did a review on the mars hydro ts1000. It is an interesting fixture that was launched not long ago. It appears to function very well with it's minimalist design but I would love to see you go over all the little details to really see if it's worth buying.
I have looked pretty deeply into those. I applaud them for building them here in the USA. I personally would not invest in one because of the chinese "driverless" light engines. The COB light engine is already mid-tier, that is compounded by the in-efficient "driver on board" cob chip. If you think they are cool, go for it, I'll bet the quality of the flowers will be good. I doubt you will break any yield records with that light. But take it with a grain of salt, I've not seen the light in person yet.
This is just the beginning. I really appreciate you all coming along for the ride. If you have any suggestions for topics to highlight in this series, please leave a comment.

This looks promising. Taking a first row seat.
Hope you know how crazy it feels to hear you talk about a grow room again brother welcome back
Btw, take it with a grain of salt but I was under the impression that the only time you are required to put a 20 amp receptacle on a 20 amp circuit is when you only have one Single receptacle on that circuit.
Cheers
better thinkers. oh damn, now we are all F*c#ed! lolololol
@@tokimane5025 no offense but this is incorrect. The breaker must be the weak link in a circut. A 20 amp breaker is not suitable for a 15 amp receptacle.
Glad to see you're back!
Did you plan to add a fresh air intake from the outside? Replaceable filter inside to house to scrub the air?
And I hope the pH controller works as well for you as it did for me. cheers.
FMB! Good to have you back in the game. Great education here :-)
can't wait to see you hit or surpass 2g/watt, we believe in youuuuu!
When sizing circuits there’s an unwritten rule of only using 80% of the rated load. So a 20 amp circuit you don’t want to put more than 18 amp. That gives the room for surges and also most new breakers will allow for the surge as well. Just stay away from gfci and arc fault stuff.
Return of the MAC! cant wait to see what you have planned :)
Why don't use HEMP for the insolation? Would make sense ... ;-)
🔥🔥🔥good to see you back and spreading wealth of knowledge!!
I wish I had the money to do a build like this! Can't wait to see more!
Haihai, Mugen with the 1200w chilled. Hella happy to see you dropping an advanced video to a proper grow room. Excited to see the room flourish :3
::high five::
can't wait to see a big ass 7 foot tall plant with those 10 foot ceilings!
Popcorn in hand......lots of it!.....Blooming forward to it.
We NEED More ! Hurry Mau5! kind of a tech chilled mau5 addiction i think. haha
It would be great if you did a review on the mars hydro ts1000. It is an interesting fixture that was launched not long ago. It appears to function very well with it's minimalist design but I would love to see you go over all the little details to really see if it's worth buying.
Have you checked out nukeheads gamma lights?
I have looked pretty deeply into those. I applaud them for building them here in the USA. I personally would not invest in one because of the chinese "driverless" light engines.
The COB light engine is already mid-tier, that is compounded by the in-efficient "driver on board" cob chip. If you think they are cool, go for it, I'll bet the quality of the flowers will be good. I doubt you will break any yield records with that light. But take it with a grain of salt, I've not seen the light in person yet.
Were did you go ? I thought we were about to see a great grow room and some awesome grows
Dope to see you back at it
there he is! Cheers SupG
New subscriber! Cannot wait for the series! Let’s go!!
