    Great video . Just a heads up. The Martin Modern deluxe models use a 4mm wrench.

    You just helped me tremendously. I just got my first Martin, a D15m streetmaster, and the truss rod nut is so deep I thought it was missing!

    Good video to remind about the clockwise/counterclockwise effect. Thanks. Also, besides the Martin Modern deluxe model specification for 4mm, most Martins will use the mentioned 5mm. A hex/allen will work, no need for the ball end. Even though the 5mm seems a little loose, the 5.5mm will not work. Thanks!!

    Super help. I was going to send my Martin 000 jr-10 back thinking there was no rod. Excellent video 5mm x 4 1/2. Think I will buy the Nomad you described on line at 4 3/4 length like yours. Thanks.

    I appreciate your honesty and humility! I'm always feeling inadequate around my instrument. It's nice to see someone else be honest about that dilemma.

    Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻 I have adjusted the truss road on several guitars, but on my Martin 000-12, I couldn’t figure out what tool to be used.

    Very difficult to locate the allen key into the rod and I suggest its a good idea to have a system that requires finding it once only. I'd suggest cutting the long 5mm key to approx 80mm long ( this depends on the socket and wrench length when on the key) and using a 5mm socket and ratchet to make the adjustments . This method also make it easy to adjust without forcing strings.

    Had the same experience - I stuck my trusty “normal size” Allen wrench into my new used Martin and was like “what the hell?!” My new long wrench is bare bones - no fancy handle.

    I ordered a Martin 5mm truss rod adjust wrench from E-bay! It is a 4mm wrench they sent! Make sure its the five millimeter as the four does not work and my guitar still needs adjust!

    I have the same problem & now have to buy a really long 5mm Allen key to access the truss rod nut. Why does it have to be so difficult? Not overly happy with my Martin anyway, over priced imho.

      I’ve had mine a couple months now. Factory strings. Starting to bow the neck. For $1200.00 I don’t think it should do that.

    Hi , I have a Sigma 000m-15e (Martin copy) thought I had no truss rod in it 🤣 but you clarified that with the length of the truss rod allen key 😅

  • @Cannibal_Actual
    @Cannibal_Actual 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Friends, just use the long end of a normal Allen wrench, it keeps you from over tightening the truss rod.

  • @HL-OOI
    @HL-OOI 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Ya that handle gives you more grip and torque..on regular 4mm Allen key I pop a 4mm socket wrench on top of it..😁

    Sorry to write here but I wonder if You also have jagged,ugly hole for thruss rod adjustment?

    • @EricsGuitarCorner

      No. It's actually cut very cleanly on mine.

  • @TacticalDingus

    I was literally taking mine to a repair shop because I was convinced my guitar was a factory defect that didn't have a truss rod. Why the hell would they hide it way back there 😂

    I'm not a great player, but I like to take my guitar and play chords and covers. I have seen that you have a yamaha fg800 and a Martin (is it a Dx1?). I'm about to buy one of them. What do you recommend me? Is it really worth spending 500 for a dx1 instead of a 200 fg800?

    When your truss rod is seated is there any play? I just bought the 5mm truss rod wrench for my Martin HD 28 and there appears to be play when it’s seated. It scars me that I’m going to strip the head of the truss rod.

    • @EricsGuitarCorner
      @EricsGuitarCorner  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is just a tiny bit of play with the wrench inserted but I definitely don't feel like it's going to strip the head. I've only actually adjusted the truss rod one time and it wasn't a problem.
