  • Error 9 update/restore fix. Please watch all the way through to avoid missing information.
I already had the phone in DFU mode the first time around, then when I removed the screen and reconnected, iTunes detected the iPhone in DFU mode. I kept the screen removed and this video shows the results.

I still don't understand why this works but why ask why. Seems that my daughter had a software issue but using your method is the only thing that worked. I was stuck in a re-boot loop and finally went inside. I disconnected the battery and usb and it seemed to work but I ended up with the temporary then disappearing serial number and back to error 9. So finally I pulled the screen and pulled the rear facing camera cable. Then reconnected the battery and usb and plugged it in. Then I did a complete restore phone as new phone (with screen and camera disconnected). Worked fine. Then put everything back together and restored from backup and the re-boot issue started right away. So did the procedure all over again but this time did not restore from backup. Phone works fine now. Still doesn't make sense to me. But thanks for showing us your process, it works! Tip-once you restore your phone..with the screen disconnected. Wait for it to finish and re-boot (just watch the iTunes screen). Then disconnect the battery to turn it off and unplug the phone. Then hook up the screen and camera and cables on a phone that is OFF. That worked for me and took me a couple tries to figure this out. Its not possible to turn off the phone without the screen connected (i think...).

F-ing Genius! Its the same thing I would do if this were a computer, open it up and reset all of the connections. I don't know why I thought of it myself. I have an iPhone 5s and I replaced the screen. It worked for a few days and then got in the loop, then error 9. After I plugged everything back in, the phone booted right up, no need to restore. I will comment again if something else happens.

Try Changing your usb lightning cable
I am sure most of your errors will be removed and then restore with iTunes makes sure the cable has no bent or turns because also it may
    Show you error 9

Had this exact same issue after replacing a damaged screen on an iPhone 6 plus... turn the phone on, would go into apple boot logo glitch where it just turns off, displays apple logo, goes off, displays logo again, etc etc until you power it off.
When i put the original cracked screen back on - it was fine, if i turned the phone on with the cracked screen on then (Whilst the device was still on) swapped the new screen over the phone would power off, and i'd have to hold the power button and it would do the blinking apple logo thing again.
Tried restoring without the screen, worked fine, but as soon as you put the new screen back on after the restore the blinking apple logo starts again.
After days of troubleshooting turned out it was some kind of fault with the ribbon cable that holds the top earpiece and the front facing camera, I replaced the one from the cracked screen and put it onto the new screen, reconnected and rebooted and it loaded up first time perfectly.
I'm lost for words as to why a new screen with the ribbon cables and camera etc already supplied fitted would be broken, I can only assume the ribbon cable got bent too much and broke along it's internal length somewhere.

I was so excited because this worked for me!! I disconnected the camera when restoring and i reset the USB/Battery ports. So my phone fully restored and i connected everything again. I was so excited, thinking that I will be using my iphone again... then the touch id didn't work. So I thought maybe I needed to reboot the phone.. then my phone gave me the same problem as before. It got stuck in a boot loop with colored glitches. I tried to do this same method again to restore it.. but no luck. Still get an error 9. Maybe I should have left the camera disconnected.. i don't know. But thanks for the video.. it sort of helped me lol.

As it is a hardware fault, the only thing you can try is disconnecting different components. I can not take responsibility for anything that goes wrong. Do this at your own risk.

+Aigar Medvedev You've clearly got no idea what you're on about.
Telling people to replace the "HDD" on the iPhone, which, for a start assuming you mean Hard Disk Drive? doesn't exist...... ? it's flash storage on an iPhone, no mechanical disk.
Secondly Error 9 can be caused by so many different things, there are so many variables to it what fixes your phone is not likely to fix someone else's phone, unless by chance they have exactly the same fault with the same piece of hardware.
Mine turned out to be a faulty ribbon cable....
