Apple will have you try a different cable and update itunes etc which are the tech support steps of "is it plugged in and does another appliance work from that outlet?" Generally the device storage has been near too or at full before an update. The user will have had many warnings that storage is getting full and to free space via itunes or cloud. These will have been ignored. The device has then tried to install a 3-4gb update without sufficient room and has led you to this comment. The device will no longer charge sufficiently in boot strap mode so now the troublevis doubled, it has not sufficient charge to proceed and nor the memory. The fix is to rip it open and swap the nand for a clean one or bin the device. How many warnings did you cancel and ignore before the tech wasted your time?
Error 9 has multiple causes, not one definable ilI, even the most experienced hardware engineers struggle to fix it/define it as its basically a sick device without clear causation if you went to the Apple store they will just tell you to buy a new device. At least this engineer here gave it a go as opposed to Apple who will do nothing for the customer..
FIXED!!!!!After a week of not being able to fix this error 9, I downloaded iTunes on a windows laptop and restored the phone. The software update kept failing but each time I restarted the update the software had transferred to the phone bit by bit. After about 6 times of it failing and me restarting the update, it finally restored my phone!!!
I can confirm this solved the problem for me March 2024, just keep repeating the update process when failed. Thanks for the suggestion, solved my problem.

This issue is related to the iPhone running out of space and not being able to reflash the software because it's out of space. Apple needs to be held accountable. I literally just ran out of space on my iPhone and it restarted on me. It's stuck on Apple logo and now trying to reflash the software doesnt work.

From what I’ve experienced I get this error code when the phone is water damaged. I know this might sound stupid but just give it a few days to dry out and it started working again. For me
i was working and it was raining outside, i assume that water got inside my phone, the back of my case was wet. the same night it died because the battery fell to 0 and when i got home i plugged it in. after two hours it still wouldn't turn on, just a charging screen, it was getting charge just not powering up, then it began to cycle the apple logo then a quick green flash and the apple logo again. after a while the green flash went away but i am presented with the support message every time i try to power on my phone, and after iTunes restore error 4014, I've tried at least 6 times now. do you think i have permanent water damage, or will waiting hopefully have the same outcome as you?
ok to whoever is looking for a solution.... these errors are signature repairs with no specific point... sometimes a simple nand format in purple mode may resolve the issue... but.... most times it is due to a failure on the board and usually in the same place... think of it like a piece of cardboard and there is a middle point of the cardboard that is more fragile because the middle part is the easiest to bend... in the iphone 6 and 7 models u get that mid section right up next to the sim card holder... so that signature failure can be from a simple capacitor to an ic... noting that the bigger the ic the bigger chance it has to have damaged pads in that section... so simply measure all components along the mid section of that line to see where your problem is.... somewhere along the line some component is not receiving or sending the right signal or current and the bootstrap process doesnt complete giving u that error.... note that as an example a simple change of the tristar which is located next to the sim tray sometimes may resolve the issue in the case of the iphone 7.
I had the same issue yesterday when I tried to revert from iOS 14 to iOS 13.6 and every time I tried it was giving me the error code and after 3 hours trying to fix it, it was really just as simple as I didn’t have the latest version of iTunes installed. If you have this issue and you think iTunes is up to date, double check and try again. And if you get past that error code and you get error code 14 it’s just a connection issue with the cord, at that point try a different USB port and start the process again. Hope this helped!

This happens because the memory is cold soldered and does not make contact, the solution is to tighten it with a cardboard fastener so that it makes contact and can restore the software
Thanks a lot all everyone for the experience. My iPhone X died almost 1.5 years back. Apple store and other iPhone fixing stores said it's not possible to make it work. But finally yesterday, I was able to make it work. I did the below steps. 1. Connected phone to laptop using original iPhone charging cord. 2. Enabled restore mode. (single click volume up, single click volume down, and long-press main button until you get a prompt on iTunes) 3. clicked on update iPhone. It failed 2-3 times but finally, it did work. My phone was in absolute working condition until i updated the ios.. There is no repair option it seems.. This is so frustrating and never expected from apple atleast.
Same here. Iphone XR working perfect until iOS15 upgrade and the phone bricked. Tried using iTunes for restore, then error 9. Took it to Apple and they got the same error several times and told me to pay $399 for an exchange or pay full price for a newer model. This has to be done on purpose by Apple to force users to upgrade. My XR was working just fine before the update. For this reason I'm back to Android...
Im having the same problem right now. I changed the screen and im getting this error when trying to restore because the phone was trapped in a boot loop when trying to turn on the phone. I think its a software issue whereby the phone (iphone 6s) has an old version of IOS. I am trying to update the software first before restoring and hopefully it works 🤷🏾♂️

I appreciate your rant and I'm ready to leave apple for these reasons. Why make a top of line product only to have it become obsolete after a few years. My iMac can only go so far and my older phones that I have as backups have the same issue... meanwhile Android users can simply update and move on without spending another 800.00

It's happened to me recently, and my phone was working just fine before an OS update, so I went to Apple Store, in the apple store and they said to me that it was a hardware issue, without any solution, well the solution is to buy a new phone, for me, this is not something coincidental, Apple is changing and is not for good.

Fix! I had the same issue with error 4013. I tried to fix many times but nothing helpful. I left the iPhone X and MacBook off for a bit around 15 minutes. Then, I turn the MacBook on and I tried again! Finally it’s restoring by iTunes. So annoying.

Thanks bro so much. I used the regular apple restore and it kept showing me diagnostics after restore. When i used this it fixed itself. Also fixed the issue with power button not working.
Try using different cable. I had the same error and I used different cable ( Original Apple Cable) and it worked fine. Actually the other cable that I used and it was not working was also from apple.

Experienced Error 4013 with the same symptoms as you, seems like there was a short circuit in the front sensor unit due corrosion by water damage. Disconnecting the came helped, replacing the unit would probably solve the issue.
You need at least 2 million subscribers, very helpful content, my iPhone 6 has Error 9 and I had done a hack job by taking some spacers made of plastics in between the LCD and the A8 chip, and it sometimes helps it boot up, but it’ll randomly shut down and boot loop.
Got Iphone 6 here it doing some strange behavior with itune it popped up as error 2009 with microsoft store version of itune then 4005 in the apple itune software. Since the phone has a broken screen not sure of the home button or repair history

If u read down the comments - common denominator is use an actual apple cord. Finally grabbed an actual one and it solved the problem after hours of trying to troubleshoot
use only original parts to fix an iphone and there will be no problem..if this iphone has already been fixed with a bad lcd or battery maybe the problem comes from there. Sometime changing the network while restoring can fix the problem.
The problem is the device(s) have been jailbroken changing the software whoever jailbroken it didn't temple the jailbreak before they tried to uodate it that causes error 9

Hey guys, might be an odd sounding fix but I had this issue and tried everything like this guy in the video said, it turned out that I just needed to use the official apple charging cable that comes with the iphones in the box, for whatever reason its like the update/restore gets declined by apple due to the cable? No idea if thats the case but for whatever reason, using the official cable worked for restoring and updating my iphone 8 plus in itunes
I literarily have two phone 6 in my possession with this same error 9 or 4013, did all they posted on their support site and called them last night, they instructed me to update my Windows and Itunes, which we did, but the error persists. One of the support I talked was like my phone is old, so it means when my phone is old, I cant use it anymore?????, I am now scared because I just but another Iphone 6s.

upgrading the imac 2011 to high sierra works if you have an installable version and if you reset the clock to a date before august 2019.

try turn off security (password,touch id , face id before restore) it block data transfer once the phone auto restarted ! it work for me!

It happened to me, I went to the apple store and they did some checking and finally, they told me it hardware issue they can't fix it.
Guys. You don't have to do anything just keep trying and trying to update. It would work. I just tried 4 times and now its working fine.

@@MasmydaMusyim gonna try with my two iphone 12 phones. I bought the second one because of error code 9 and i switched to a samsung galaxy z flip 5 because the other 12 did the same thing!!! Apple is ridiculous
my phone is currrently having this issue where the updating and restore just wont fix. brought into apple and because i am out of warranty they just offer replacement. no udgrade allowed or credit because phone wont get pass the apple screen and into home screen to qualify. shame.

Fix! I had the same issue with error 4013. I tried to fix many times but nothing helpful. I left the iPhone X and MacBook off for a bit around 15 minutes. Then, I turn the MacBook on and I tried again! Finally it’s restoring by iTunes. So annoying.
I'm having the same issue. Same phone but with different codes, 9 and sometime 4013. I've tried almost 10 times already but didn't seem to work out for me. :(
My old Ipad showed error 9. Like some comments here, I tried again and again. And finally it worked after I tried like 10 times and used 3 different computers. 1st I used my Macbook, 2nd I used iTuned in my son’s PC, 3rd one I used iTunes in my windows laptop.

i got the same issue with one of my customer and with all researches its end it just to tell the customer to go to apple which is i already know they will not help him to fix it, but to offer him with a new phone.

I fixed it using Apple configurator 2. You lose all your data but it worked for me. It may not work for you.
Thanks bro so much. I used the regular apple restore and it kept showing me diagnostics after restore. When i used this it fixed itself. Also fixed the issue with power button not working.

Try using different cable. I had the same error and I used different cable ( Original Apple Cable) and it worked fine. Actually the other cable that I used and it was not working was also from apple.

Also, my issue is the 4013 code. Phone died, plugged it in to charge, apple logo came on, screen flashed green for a millisecond then black. Apple store say it may be due to hardware. Installing latest software and trying again!

@@mehulmanian Seems to be an issue with one of the flex cables > apparently typical for when the earpiece gets contact to water and corrodes (water damage in the front sensor unit > causing a short circuit > causing the phone to shut-down during boot
Experienced Error 4013 with the same symptoms as you, seems like there was a short circuit in the front sensor unit due corrosion by water damage. Disconnecting the came helped, replacing the unit would probably solve the issue.

You need at least 2 million subscribers, very helpful content, my iPhone 6 has Error 9 and I had done a hack job by taking some spacers made of plastics in between the LCD and the A8 chip, and it sometimes helps it boot up, but it’ll randomly shut down and boot loop.

Got Iphone 6 here it doing some strange behavior with itune it popped up as error 2009 with microsoft store version of itune then 4005 in the apple itune software. Since the phone has a broken screen not sure of the home button or repair history

If u read down the comments - common denominator is use an actual apple cord. Finally grabbed an actual one and it solved the problem after hours of trying to troubleshoot

use only original parts to fix an iphone and there will be no problem..if this iphone has already been fixed with a bad lcd or battery maybe the problem comes from there. Sometime changing the network while restoring can fix the problem.

The problem is the device(s) have been jailbroken changing the software whoever jailbroken it didn't temple the jailbreak before they tried to uodate it that causes error 9

Hey guys, might be an odd sounding fix but I had this issue and tried everything like this guy in the video said, it turned out that I just needed to use the official apple charging cable that comes with the iphones in the box, for whatever reason its like the update/restore gets declined by apple due to the cable? No idea if thats the case but for whatever reason, using the official cable worked for restoring and updating my iphone 8 plus in itunes

I literarily have two phone 6 in my possession with this same error 9 or 4013, did all they posted on their support site and called them last night, they instructed me to update my Windows and Itunes, which we did, but the error persists. One of the support I talked was like my phone is old, so it means when my phone is old, I cant use it anymore?????, I am now scared because I just but another Iphone 6s.

Error 9 has multiple causes, not one definable ilI, even the most experienced hardware engineers struggle to fix it/define it as its basically a sick device without clear causation if you went to the Apple store they will just tell you to buy a new device. At least this engineer here gave it a go as opposed to Apple who will do nothing for the customer..p.s You missed the hundreds of other devices that he fixes?.. Instead of complaining about nothing you could generally learn how to make/save money watching him fix stuff.
The solution was using an original apple cable!! Stupid but it solved it for me
