I’m always traveling, getting lost on purpose, and Nevada/Utah desert highways and roads always seem to give out a lonely but internal calibrating vibe from all the chaos of busy life. So I’d say the Nevada HwY-50 is for this guy.🚐💨😎👍🏼 Definitely recommend Ash Springs if you’re in that area on your way either east or south of your current location.😊
As a fellow introvert, I can relate. Living in or in your case, moving out to the middle of nowhere is where one can relax and think. You begin to realise civilization with its crowds and conveniences can be too much of a good thing! The wilds of Nevada, with no one around to intrude on your solitude, the loneliness there breeds not anxiety or pangs of regret, but a serene calmness in the soul. Its not something most people would put on their bucket list, but Highway 50 being the world’s second loneliest highway, you definitely see life in a different light once you’ve made its acquaintance. In that respect, Eva, you belong to a very select group of people and I enjoyed your video for that very reason!
@@1lapmagic Although many stand up comedians & the like suffer with confidence, anxiety, depression & sometimes social awkwardness yet they get up in front of 100’s of people, or go on TV & do their thing. It’s kinda like having a release, but at the same time they can hide behind their performance. The mind is a strange thing.
I’m a gal from California who started solo adventuring because of your videos! Just saying hi and showing my support, I get so excited whenever your videos come out each week. Your bravery is such an inspiration ❤
This is the most refreshing and feel good channel TH-cam algorithm has ever recommended to me. A therapy for the usual crazy world we create for ourselves. Nicely done.
That was a beautiful video that probably reached deeper into many people than you might have guessed. I’m an old man now, but since I was a young boy, I’ve always enjoyed solitude. I think that lonely is a bad place to be, and I’m fortunate that I’ve never experienced it. I can be alone without being lonely. So can you. x
Great video travelogue with your beautiful dog, Duke…. I too appreciate the quiet sounds of nature , that brings to mind a lot of Wordsworths’ poetry…my only question to you, do you miss not having someone to share these adventures with? I have been divorced since ‘83, and in all the “in between” years, some of MY most precious moment, are those that I was able to witness with someone special by my side…I’ve always felt that having someone you love, divides the tough times in life, and doubles the joy in sharing the experience…stay safe, healthy and hopefully someday, find someone to love….
I am a very stressed Masters student stuck in rainy urban UK and your videos are the absolute highlight of my week at the moment. Thank you so much for taking us with you on both your outer and inner journeys.
Eva, I have no idea of how I got your video but, I'm so glad I did. I am totally in love with you, what you do, who you are what you are about. Thank you so much for brightening my day.
I experienced that silence just after I moved to Alaska many years ago. Stopped at Birch Lake around midnight in January and the loudest sound was the light from the stars. Only surpassed by the absolute darkness. I had never seen the night sky so BLACK, only lit by so many stars. Like I could feel the expanse of the universe, and the isolation of this tiny planet surrounded by the rest of creation. Most beautiful thing I have ever seen/felt.
No annoying obnoxious loud neighbor? None? *Dream* !!!! I could live alone. I like it. Awesome description of your experience at Birch Lake around midnight in January.
I absolutely love a pitch black night sky. For me, nothing beat my time in the navy. After a midwatch I’d go topside and just relax forward, away from the hum of the engines. At night, the ship was blacked out so In the middle of the Pacific Ocean there really isn’t anything but you, the stars, and thousands of miles of ocean in any direction. It is spectacular.
Solitude, peace and absolute silence truly are some of the best human experiences. And really should get academy award for that cinematography. Also, greetings from Latvia.
I was born and raised in Elko NV… and I’ve traveled all over the state. Seeing you roam some of my old stomping grounds gave me a pang of homesickness despite driving that same stretch of road in July. Thank you for for giving my former home some of the credit it deserves and realizing how truly special the high desert is for creating peace in one’s soul.
Elko Nevada, I remember the overpowering aroma of the flower there that I have no idea what it is but you could smell nothing else but that when it was blooming. Could you help me out with the name or is it other than a flower?
@@earlhollar1906 just walking by the Rabbit Brush with yellow blooms is wonderful. When it rains or you brush by it the sage puts out it's scent of clean desert
Stayed overnight in downtown Elko with my pup twice this past June and July. Took her for long walks around the town between road trip legs. Really liked it - don't know about living there because it's so different from what I know, but visiting, yes!
This video is excellent! I actually FELT the solitude. I enjoy being alone. I used to leave the city and seek out remote places in order to experience what you are describing. I haven't been able to do so for a long time due to health reasons and you have allowed me to awaken memories and relive experiences with your words and video. Thank you Eva. You are wonderful. May your travels be safe always!
Beautifully shot as ever. Just keep living and sharing these moving mini documentaries with us. Authentic adventurers who are not worried about what they look like, but focused on their experiences and satisfying their curiosity about the world are so few and far between, and so I'm grateful you're willing and able to share your experiences and thoughts with us. Btw Vilk is huge! Gorgeous pup that clearly loves your bond x
Having lived in the western US most of my life, I was still amazed by the emptiness of highway 50. It's call Basin and Range, with island mountains separated by miles of flat range. I would like to say your videography and editing are outstanding, better all the time. The song at the end was perfect. And you are so emotionally open, your personality and face. Viewers love that. Keep doing what you do.
I travel those routes in Nevada working at various hospitals. That deafening sound is just as you described. Just be careful out there. I have run into human issues in those remote sectors. Be vigilant of your surroundings. Great video.
@revolution inevitable I wish I had the insight to document my travels for the last 38 years (2,000,000 road miles). The worst encounter I had was just north of Boise, ID where I was heading to McCall, ID. I was at a stop light and 4 young men in a beat up old Chevy nova going the opposite direction made eye contact with me as we passed the intersection and they pulled a 180 turn and came up behind me. The 4 men were, as we described 30 years ago, skin heads. I'm of Asian descent. I kept driving for another hour and stopped at a gas station to get gas and see if they would stop as well. They did stop but did not get gas nor go into the store. Now I had to make the decision to keep going to McCall, ID or turn back to Boise. I drove back to Boise and luckily they did not follow me.
Good advice. The wide spot in the road she stayed at the first night was not good. She should have returned to Middlegate for the night where she would have been much safer. Sometimes Eva is just to trusting of this world.
@@deanyoung9214 You made the right choice and only suffered some inconvenience. If you had continued on, you very likely would have suffered far more than inconvenience. Your story is an excellent example of practicing good situational awareness which most people barely do, if at all, and some pay the price for their inattention to what is happening around them.
Your videos are such a rare combination of art, adventure and authenticity. I really feel like I'm there with you... physically and emotionally. I can only imagine how much time, skill and care goes into these words of art you create for us to enjoy so deeply. Thank you. Truly
It's funny but I recently flew to California and through my window seat, I saw some pretty desolate desert terrain, and periodically I would see little communities out in the middle of nowhere and I wondered about the people who lived there, wondered about their hopes and dreams, etc. I grew up in the jungles of south east Asia but when I first laid eyes on my desert in the southwest region on the United States, I knew I was home. The wide open skies, the vistas, the desolate mountains that surround me on all sides, it was love at first sight. I call it home now. The landscape is awe inspiring and demands respect. ❤️ Thank you for taking me along on your detour. 😍👏❤️
Look how much he’s grown. What a treat to travel with an adventurous person this must be for him. Vilk is fortunate to live and experience his new life with her.
Beautiful episode. I find being alone very peaceful. Even the chaos and occasional frustration of a dog never shatters that peace. In time I've given up my desire for human connection and learned to enjoy life in my own ways. Keep doing you.
Such a beautiful video Eva. With so much of social media channels filled with all the 'beautiful' touristy places we could visit, I love how you focus on the inner journey as much as the outer one, and in doing so you make even a barren desert utterly awe-inspiring. You truly are a wonderful film-maker. ✨
I live in Fallon. I’ve spent my whole life driving all those roads. It’s funny seeing you in my hometown after watching your videos from all over the world for so long. I’ve never seen anyone that isn’t from here understand so quickly the magic of the high desert! Most people just see desolation. If you ever make it back this way I can recommend a ton of amazing spots.
I envy you Eva! As an older American who is sliding into his twilight years, I live more vicariously through people like you. I love that you are living your best life!
I am a native son of Nevada. I love it. The backcountry of the Silver state is wonderful and vast, and holds so many amazing secret places. Most recently I found an arrowhead literally laying within feet of a large piece of Native American pottery. If you pay attention, it is one of the few places left where you can still find places with pottery, arrowheads, and petroglyphs that are seemingly previously undiscovered or publicized.
The heat keeps me out of Nevada. It was 122⁰F last time I was there. In the winter it's cold, windy, and nasty. Never go anywhere where the weather can kill you in less than an hour. In the Southwest you can never turn your back on mother nature.
I know this video is all about the silence, but your choice of music is inspired. And, although the landscapes obviously help, the cinematography in this is exceptional. This is a beautifully-shot mini documentary in its own right.
I really do not watch many youtubers at all but love how and what you are sharing. Always stick with your content. So much work, love and commitment behind every single second and it inspires me a lot. Just saying thank you for that!
I don't think you'll see this as there's A LOT of comments, but I just wanted to say well done for doing such an amazing job with Wilk. It looks like you're raising one good boy. He's a beaut. I've got 2 dogs & know first hand that it's no walk in the park!! Safe travels Eva 😊
The 1st year to 18 months can be challenging with a pup. Looks like you are doing a great job. I mean, he has his own air conditioner! You have to feel the hot discharge. That's one heck of a dog mom.
@@LifebyLiving Its simply any picture that attracts your attention to click on it only to find it has nothing much to do with the content. You described the quietness of the desert supremely. I spent much time in the desert over the years and it is the only place I've been where you can hear the blood surging through the veins in your head with every heartbeat. It is a place profoundly void of noise.
Eva, you are the very best of everything. The list of superlatives that apply to you are almost endless. You know the difference between loneliness and being alone. You will never be alone because with your TH-cam expertise you can SHARE your life on the road. SHARE is one of the most important words in the English language. I'm 76 now. I met my wife in High School and we were married for 52 years. She's gone now. She is with all her Cherokee ancestors. We used to travel a lot and that highway looked so wonderful. It brought bac a simpler life (after kids). But here in St. Louis, Mo., well I guess it's gotten so comfortable. But with no one to share with, I can at least pretend. I don't really envy you, because that feels a little rude. You are a beautiful person and I wish you all the best of everything. God Bless and keep you safe.

Having spent many nights under the stars among various southwestern desert landscapes, I can fully relate to the thoughts you shared-the quietness, the colors, the wide-ranging temperature fluctuations, the solitude, the stillness, etc. The desert offers it all. It’s where I retreat to when I need to reconnect with my soul. It’s such a special place. And the sunsets. Wow! I will never grow weary of watching those stunning colors. So glad you got to experience it!
Please, be kind and answer me. How does the drone work? She releases it and it flies by itself on a software while she drives the jeep? I'm so dumb in this matter

One of the best videos on your channel... Nothing much to say.. You are living the life many people only think off.. But they couldn't.. So enjoy as long as you can... Love from India🇮🇳
You produce some of the most interesting and thoughtful content in the solo, adventure, or travel/explore 'TH-camrs' categories that I've come across. I don't have the time to watch very much, but all of what you've published that I've seen has been outstanding.
You're traveling the West the right way. I see so many tourists out here running like crazy to hit the major attractions and national parks, stressed out beyond belief due to the distances and times (and often crowds) involved. Just taking your time and exploring out of the way attractions is by far the best way to do it. And good work on reaching the Salt Flats at a time when you can drive on them! Definitely not always the case.
You hit a chord with me. I live in a very small town in Idaho that is becoming very popular with people from California. I can pick them out in the grocery store. They are the ones driving their carts like they are on the Santa Ana Freeway through the store and rushing up behind me to make a pass with their cart. They are in a constant state of "hurry" and "rush". They haven't relaxed yet, even though they are in a place that is totally relaxed already. They all need to slow down and relax before they drop dead of a heart attack, I swear.
@@incog99skd11 Moab's grocery stores are the same way with the same types of people. I've simply stopped shopping in those stores as a result, and will go to those in nearby and lesser known towns instead.
Definitely one of your best films ever, and yes, we say FILM because this is just on another level! Thank you for blessing us with these images, your thoughts and your overall journey 🥰
I appreciate & agree with the distinction between loneliness and solitude - as a female solo traveler I too appreciate the times of solitude- it shifts my perspective dramatically and increases my gratitude as well! NUMBERS A TO Z Learning the truth can be a painful process, especially when it has been hidden from you your whole life. If the world you thought you were living in proves to be based on deception, the truth can seem unbelievable, bizarre. It is made even worse, when it involves people you respected, leaders you voted for, people you trusted. At first there is disbelieve, then disorientation, then outrage over the betrayal, combined perhaps with fear and then sadness, etc. Each person has their own process of waking and goes at their own pace. But coming to terms with unwanted truth is part of the process of awakening and it is often the shocking and emotionally difficult part. However, on the other side of this process of “awakening” is a stable foundation where we will rapidly rebuild a new, safer, more prosperous and more peaceful reality for ourselves, our children and yes, even the greater world. I lived in Nevada for a brief time to be near a parent. To many, it was a nothing land...but I find so much in the big empty spaces. Now, living back in a concrete jungle, I miss the quiet before my ears were filled once again with a constant hum.
It's pretty wild if you think about it, but most people in the world will never get to experience that level of silence even for a minute. We are very blessed.
What a beautiful video! The huge expanse of the desert, the ranges of mountains and the pink sunsets, all prompting your contemplation of solitude -- just priceless. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Love a woman who is natural, real, daring, beautiful, and is not afraid of the elements. You are a rock-star, and natural woman for the natural world. Keep up the great videos.
Enjoyed the vid, as usual, thanks Eva. I took a road trip alone in the US, January of 2010. I'd been in Vegas and hated it! I made the Grand Canyon the focus of my trip (beyond amazing), and then travelled parts of Nevada, Arizona, and Utah. Saw amazing scenery, very solitary highways, and spoke to hardly anyone for 12 days....being alone didn't bother me, I have lived alone for 16 years. There is indeed a vast difference between loneliness and solitude.
One of my most vivid memories was staying at a lodge of sorts near Silver Falls state park in Oregon. I was with a rowdy bunch of teens and I was one of them. Somehow I was alone and walked up a foothill near the group camping area late evening in a treeless area. It was very quiet. No wind, no motors, no birds, no people. After more than 20 minutes of walking or climbing I stopped and looked around and listened very carefully. Very peaceful. Three people were walking along the driveway to the camp area and talking normally. I heard every word! And their footsteps on the asphalt road! They were more than a mile away. Supremely happy for this moment of solitude. I wish I had shared it with more people....
In the nineties I drove across Borneo in a Land Rover County 110. I bought it in an auction from the British Armed Forces that were stationed there. The shot of the evening sky that you caught on camera soon after your hot spring dip reminded me of the equatorial skies above the rain forest of Borneo. That was hauntingly beautiful. Thank you for bringing back sweet memories. 17.24 is another point that I remembered for a long time after watching this video in full. The difference between loneliness and solitude. Not to be even distracted by challenges of the traffic or even more importantly the challenges of the terrain is simply meditative. So my choice is Highway 50.
Girl, you have my admiration, exciting journey, traveling alone with old car, drone and dog. unbelievable. beautiful experiences, stories and pictures. thank you. God bless you. 😊
Drove HWY 50 in a snow storm, barely made it to Austin, rang the bell to the motel and a gal from the bar across the street came over to check me in. The couple ran the motel, the bar and a few other small businesses. Had a fantastic night talking a wild range of guests. I mentioned to the husband bar tender how cool I thought the bar looked and he told the full history of how the bar came from England, was in SF for the gold rush and wound up in Austin. I spent a little less than a day there and will never forget it.
There are no adequate words that can describe the beauty of the sunrises and sets in the Western US. The expanse of sky yields some of the most spectacular color, not available in other areas. Currently, I am in Central Oregon and the pinks and oranges on the snow capped mountains take my breath away. Engaging such areas as Nevada Rt. 50 are good for the soul. It gives us time to listen to the inner messages. Enjoyed the vlog--keep on doing what you love!
I've seen a lot of sunsets and rises but nothing tops what I've seen in southeast Oregon. The night skies even beat the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve if I'm being honest. Which is hard for me to admit as a lifelong Idahoan.
Good matching of music to video. I also like how the music does not overwhelm. Much of the time either not there or barely noticed. But then sometimes brought to the forefront creating mood that goes along with both the visual and the overall story.
Eva, Once again you’ve produced an amazing work of art! You are a very gifted storyteller. Thank you for producing such amazing videos and for giving us a glimpse of the amazing world we share.
Great video! I think most people are terrified of spending time alone. They’d rather be in situations they don’t really like with people they don’t really care for rather than face their true thoughts. I think that spending time alone helps us find out who we really are, see the world for what it really is and helps us find our strength! And it helps us find peace! Cheers! To alone time and solitude! 🥂
Amazing video! I grew up in the desert (in Arizona, not Nevada) and I've always thought it was ugly and barren - couldn't wait to leave. I ended up moving to Michigan, which I love, couldn't believe how green and full of life everything was. I never understood how people could say the desert was beautiful. But you made me see that there can be some beauty in the solitude. And I will say, it's true that nothing beats desert sunsets.
Awesome video. I work in Ridgecrest California, one of the loneliest and most isolated towns in the South West. It's all desert, rock, sand, shrubs but still beautiful. I just took a 30 minute drive to the Easter slopes of the Sierras and checked out the snow. Even though the landscape looks like "nothing", there are a million things to see.
Going through a separation with my wife right now and you along with a couple others I watch have inspired me to convert my suburban to overland and get away. I learned the solitude you speak of growing up in the mountains of Colorado and since moving to Tampa Florida have been craving it. Like you said solitude is a choice for therapeutic loneliness and living in the city away from everyone and everything I know makes me feel just lonely. Thanks for sharing as much as you do, I'm sure it helps a lot of people. It helps me and knowing there's something's in common between us doesn't make it feel as lonely. Keep it up, stay safe. Chin up rubber down.
I have felt that absolute silence in snowy forest in the dead of winter. The snow absorbs any sound. It is beautiful and pristine. Cold and profoundly peaceful. I felt more a part of nature than ever before or since. I still go there in my mind from time to time.
i experienced that snow silence last year when i went out to the mountains and got surprised with snowfall from last night. winter wonderland with pure silence. it was magical!
As a boy I was allowed to wander the woods near my home alone. Plenty of friends I keep still to this day, but that freedom was empowering. As an adult I'm always using my free time to chat with people, but then return to my home alone and very happy in the solotude I've kept greedily for myself. Half of my life is a busy job on the phone all day, with fun and smart coworkers that I'm sure will be my friends after I leave and the other half is solitude, sleeping in back of the jeep on a summers night away from others or checking into an inexpensive but quiet hotel. Happier, stronger, and more self sufficient.
That level of silence is amazing. I camped in Rocky Mountain National Park in February many years ago. I had to snowshoe in from the last plowed parking lot. I trekked in for about six (6) and set up camp. There was no wind, no animals or birds. It was so quiet I could actually hear the blood rushing through my temples. There really isn't any experience quite like it.
YES! That's exactly the feeling. It's incredible to me that the majority of people in the world will never experience that depth of silence (it's unachievable in any human settlements or cities)
@@evazubeck I thought the same but I was recently in Carmel and when I was sitting in my friend's living room, I commented on how deafeningly quiet it was. She laughed and said she has gotten accustomed to the silence. ❤️ I would certainly say that Carmel is definitely a town...perhaps small city. I found it hard to sleep that night, and had to turn on a fan so that the humming, drowned out the silence.
Around 50 years ago, in the hours just before a Thanksgiving feast, I walked up a silent mountainside in eastern Washington State. After a while, I sat down under a ponderosa pine and enjoyed the stillness; and within that, I distinctly heard the sound of breathing. In, out. And being that I could see a considerable distance in all directions, I realized that the only living thing nearby was...the pine tree. All of Nature is breathing if one practices unconditioned listening.
Eva lee of the Great Lakes is winter is a silent and beautiful wonderland. You could shoot off a shotgun and your next door neighbor would never hear you. That’s of course if the lake effect snow has occurred. It’s the most beautiful quiet ever.
It’s funny how life works… a pure coincidence get me watching this video which deeply touched me. To me SOLITUDE is a necessity, a comfortable state of mind that gets me moving on. This 25 minutes clip and especially the way you’ve spontaneously shared you’re deepest thoughts made me realize that a lot of people NEED to be contemplative. Thank you for sharing these profound thoughts and this "out of this world" landscape 😊
I love being alone, and I definitely believe that is one of my bigger strengths, being okay with that and actually finding peace in being alone. Thanks Eva for another incredible video, so beautiful and inspiring as always!
I have been watching your videos for a long time...but this one hit me deep as i have spent many months and possibly years, becoming more and more lonely. You have given me a new perspective...I now consider my "getting old" experience as "purposeful solitude"....for this. I thank you...Eva zu Beck. ....much love. ~JP~

Years ago I lived in Las Vegas and got so tire of the city that I would drive out in the desert just like you to a place where there was no noise and completely dark. I could almost hear my own heartbeat. True privacy is a thing of the past. Solitude is the feeling that you are the only person on earth. It's no wonder that our ancestors looked to the heavens in awe. You are doing great in your travels. Thank you.♥️♥️

I live very happily with myself, and it is comforting to know that it is not too weird to be like that. An animal "other" is a fine companion. They love you unconditionally, as we love them. Sad that humans have such difficulty doing that for each other. Keep doing what you are doing. You are fabulous.
Living in Southern California, I’ve taken our beautiful rainbow sunsets for granted. But calling it northern lights but in the south…. It has made me appreciate our pink and orange sunsets so much more. Bless you Eva! I love your videos soooooo much!
southern california coastal sunsets have some of the least picturesque sunsets in the US b/c there isn't enough pollution in the air to make them spectatcular

I grew up in Fallon and your video takes me back to memories of beautiful sunsets and clear night skies filled with stars from horizon to horizon. About 20 miles (~30 km) East of Fallon is Sand Mountain, a 600 ft (180 m) tall sand dune. As kids we would climb to the top of the dune and then run down as fast as we could and end up tumbling head-over-heals down the sand slopes. Great fun.
Lived in Las Vegas NV for thirty-five years. The best part of that was leaving town to explore the desert. You nailed it. I don't know if I will live long enough to experience it again.
Such a great topic Eva, discovering the difference between these words and how they relate to you as an individual is one of life’s great lessons and progressions. Great video 🙏 love it.
Solitude is a blessing. Due to some circumstances of my life, loneliness 'happened' to me but it has slowly turned into solitude which I rejoice very much. Loved this video, Eva. You put so much effort in each video and quality keeps getting better. Lots of love💕
What an amazing episode! My favourite so far. Your way of making your trips to reflexions and thoughts for everyone are an almost poetic experience. And what great footages with the drone!
Wow, Eva! I spent a couple months watching van life videos, and they were so awfully and repetitiously empty that I nearly abandonned my idea of an extended road trip. So I drove them from my TH-cam. Yours showed up out of nowhere, and from the pic i thought, here's something about a MadMax character. I ignored it, but it kept coming back, and finally for no good reason, clicked on it. The Loneliest Highway. You've broken the evil spell with your solitudenous poem. Thank you so much! Great travels!
Wow, nicely done video - first time viewer, I liked your fresh take and adventurous spirit. And your reaction to the sound of silence. Especially fresh, in a way too active world that can't slowdown. I had a similar experience in the '60's camping in the Anza Borrego and along the Colorado River in remote desert landscapes. When you realize how phony most of the noise is and quietly get in touch, via the silence, at core soul level - you've just become addicted! I've sought out a lifetime in wilderness places full of silent beauty to feed my soul. I'm also a Hwy 50 traveler - if you went farther there's Great Basin National Park and a fun beautiful backway into Utah.
There are a lot of people out there who prefer to be alone than surrounded by people, because having people around is another thing they need to confront. Keeping your guard up just to avoid getting hurt or dissapointed is exhausting so sometime we need to escape from people. I love your content !! Keep up the good work !
You sound like you have the makings for a counselor? My siblings and I were constantly on guard observing the body language of our father after his father visited us. Being the oldest son I learned to duck at a young age. Being sloughed in the kisser, hurt a lot worse than a leather belt across the Buns.!.! Exhausting yes but coming down from the adrenaline rush, you slept like a baby , and when you woke all was good. Inconsistency is the exhausting part! Pair that with someone that's claustrophobic and it's, "oh hell no I'm out of here"!
Wow I love your videos. I found your channel today. I have been stuck at home for 2 years now. I am on oxygen most of the day every day. Watching your videos helps me feel like I'm on a journey and I feel free again. I am 68 years old. I also Sub. Have a great day and take care.
I went to Death Valley, one of the most beautiful places in the world. I always tell people about how silent it is, how you can literally hear someone talking from a mile away. Like you said the silence is beautiful and frightening simultaneously. I miss it so much. Such a unique feeling
If you happen to visit Joshua Tree park, there are areas that are so silent that you can hear someone breathing from far away. It felt weird when I first experienced the silence..or rather solitude.
Eva is almost like a philosopher. This is really her narrative that really sets Eva aside of any other travel content creators. Love it Eva please please continue
@@WoodsmanHobo777 It's tedious. Maybe I'm too old to remember being young and self-absorbed and thinking everything I think is so profound someone needs to hear it, but damn, she goes to all these beautiful places and 90% of the time the carmera is aimed at her face and she won't stop talking about herself. But she's got a ton of subs, so I guess some people like that.
Another masterpiece in storytelling Eva. Like you, I’m a good friend with solitude, because I enjoy simply being with myself. “SOLITUDE. The very sound of this word is full of thoughtfulness, wisdom, hidden strength, and inner power. Solitude is a state of being alone without being lonely, it is about enjoying your own company.” ― Anna LeMind
its so amazingly wonderful to watch your video's. This solitude you are talking about even gets more strength by loneliness not having a negative voice in your video. You really show off the importance to take time and see wonders around you that might not even be noticed because we all have such a "busy" life and therefore missing out the actual landscapes of the different spectrums we can experience.
Thank You for allowing me to see my motherland( Newene Sogobia) through your excellent videos, I find myself homesick now after watching you travel through the ancient landscape of my Ancestors. Those cold mountains and hot springs have been the spiritual life force of my People for countless generations. Our blood soaks that landscape and the ancient trees( old growth Pinion, Mountain Mahogany, Bristle Cone, and Swamp Cedar) still remember us Newe( Shoshone)People, our songs, our dances, our love for them, and their love for us. Too bad you decided to travel North at Ely and take the 93, you nearly traveled by Bahsahwahbi in Spring Valley and the Bristle Cones of Mount Wheeler. There in Great Basin National Park you could have visited those most sacred Elders on the mountaintop, there are few on this Earth older than those Spirits of the Bristle Cone Pines living there(older than any Redwood, Sequoya, Baobab). Our stories are etched into the rocks on the Mountains, sung into the waters running off of their sides, and danced across all of their trails and secret places. Thank you for reminding me of where I am from, of where my Grandmothers, and their grandmothers, walked before trains and airplanes, and of the sweet beautiful songs they sung which haunt those silent places on cool winds.
Its so fascinating how different people can be. While I appreciate and enjoy your videos, I get that feeling (not the quiet part) living in NYC. I find it exhilarating and comforting. When I leave and come back I feel at home and at peace here. There is solitude and beauty everywhere!
We utilize Nevada US-50 and US-6 quite a bit as truck drivers. Less tourists to pass, speed limits are set to keep us moving with less stopping. The Pony Express/ Butterfield station west of Austin NV Is worth a look. A stroll through Fallons old main street is also a must see for an all American town. After travelling extensively in the Western Australian outback, this part of Northern Nevada is a welcomed sight for the big openness.
What a great travel video. I have been on a few miles of Highway 50,and did not know it was the loneliest, but that was enough for me. Spent a month one night in Ely. The silence is deafening and at first, frightening. However, living in the SW desert I learned to love it. What I do miss the most is....the night sky. The night sky will stun you into silence. Ty Eva for sharing your adventures, and life. Goddess love you.
The stars must have been magnificent in the desert. I will be picking up my teardrop trailer in about a month and I can't wait to visit the Great Basin desert in Nevada. Love your content. Love your unforced authenticity and I love that you are not too clever by half.
In the pantheon of some outstanding videos of yours, this is my favourite to date - simply stunning, intimate and inspirational. Superb editing, drone footage and soundtrack. But above all, your reflections on loneliness and aloneness/solitude are profound. The thumbnail, which accompanies this episode, is so powerful. Fantastic. Thank you - and may your Road and Odyssey go ever on.
the ammount of work you put into each video is amazing ! even just setting up all the diffrent camera angles alone to tell your stroy throughout is done so well! thanks for your work!
Wow, really enjoyed this video Eva for the very reason you wanted to go there...that level of solitude is incredible and actually its a very beautiful place in its own way. Great video of a place I will never get to travel to...but can experience through your video.
Your content brings both melody and mind to some of us who completely understand that journey. Being by yourself is not being alone. Independent, learning, and so much luck based on raw courage. Courage.
Being alone can be a double-edged sword. It can be depressing or it can be energizing . I chose energizing . I feel the need to recharge without the noise around me. I think when you're fully charged, you're able to copy and fully appreciate the pleasant sounds and noise around you. That's what I admire about you Eva, is that you're able to talk about it. Thank You! Peace be with you always.🙏❤🙏 Jim, Harriet and Yuki
Alright: give me your vote. Dalton Highway in Alaska, or Highway 50 in Nevada? Which one would YOU prefer to drive? 😁
I’m always traveling, getting lost on purpose, and Nevada/Utah desert highways and roads always seem to give out a lonely but internal calibrating vibe from all the chaos of busy life. So I’d say the Nevada HwY-50 is for this guy.🚐💨😎👍🏼
Definitely recommend Ash Springs if you’re in that area on your way either east or south of your current location.😊
Dalton.
I love us 50.
Definitely Highway 50. I grew up in a place not much different. It feels like home.
Nevada highway 50 . For its more of a filling of being a lone in a big open space .
This isn't a video. It's a beautiful film, and it's filled with atmosphere, warmth, and humanness. A real triumph, Eva. xo
Peter, only love can hurt like this triumph, go again, but go.....away.
I agree Eva's channel is a true gem of TH-cam
Nice post !! Cheers
people who make youtube videos pointing cameras at their face for hours of their life are not introverts.
@@1lapmagic Although many stand up comedians & the like suffer with confidence, anxiety, depression & sometimes social awkwardness yet they get up in front of 100’s of people, or go on TV & do their thing.
So can you. x
Yes. It's a big distinction isn't it. Happy for you :)
well said

That calm on a windless 50 below night is the best
Yes, absolute silence is amazing. This is a big reason why I own a property in the middle of nowhere.
It’s so depressing, I think
Both rabbit brush and sage brush can bloom and have a pretty strong sent.

I’m sure the German shepherd give ne’er-do-wells pause.

You were so lucky to have that hot spring all for yourself. It looked divine.

NUMBERS A TO Z
Learning the truth can be a painful process, especially when it has been hidden from you your whole life.

We also often have the perfect example of a round body right above us....the moon.

Central Oregon is beautiful!! Spent some time around Camp Sherman. Very beautiful!!
I’ve spent time along those roads. Great to see you found the same solitude I have enjoyed. Peace ✌️
Absolutely loved this episode! Thank you for sharing
🍀👍🍀😊thanks for taking us along.
Love silence like that. Many people live their whole lives and never know what it's like. If Only They Knew for just a second at least.
Eva lee of the Great Lakes is winter is a silent and beautiful wonderland. You could shoot off a shotgun and your next door neighbor would never hear you. That’s of course if the lake effect snow has occurred. It’s the most beautiful quiet ever.
Another amazing show Eva, thanks for sharing these amazing moments with us. Lots of love from Tokyo ♡
Great episode and really appreciated the song at the end. Keep going- you're on an amazing personal journey. Best-J
I have been watching your videos for a long time...but this one hit me deep as i have spent many months and possibly years, becoming more and more lonely. You have given me a new perspective...I now consider my "getting old" experience as "purposeful solitude"....for this. I thank you...Eva zu Beck.

Thank you.♥️♥️
No doubt. I live in NM. The sky is amazing when you are in the desert 100 miles away from any city lights.
Amazing video Eva! I crave solitude and would love to have lived and travelled like you and Vilk. I am terminally ill but watching your videos makes me feel like I am there, experiencing what I never could have, thank you my favourite youtuber 💜
Eva, you take me right there with you. Your editing is absolutely top-of-the-line. Thank you for the wonderful escape! I live very happily with myself, and it is comforting to know that it is not too weird to be like that. An animal "other" is a fine companion. They love you unconditionally, as we love them. Sad that humans have such difficulty doing that for each other.
Keep doing what you are doing. You are fabulous.
‘Just discovered this channel. She’s amazing! 😃
Living in Southern California, I’ve taken our beautiful rainbow sunsets for granted. But calling it northern lights but in the south…. It has made me appreciate our pink and orange sunsets so much more. Bless you Eva! I love your videos soooooo much!
we have the same sunsets here on the east coast theyre absolutely magical. I thought they were typical until she compared them to the northern lights
Ahah yay! Happy to hear that! They do have a very similar shape and awe-inspiring feel to them ☺
southern california coastal sunsets have some of the least picturesque sunsets in the US b/c there isn't enough pollution in the air to make them spectatcular
I love your honesty about being alone and we know how demanding creating content like you do is, it’s a pity we didn’t catch up with you in Turkey, like Chris and Marianne did, where are you heading next
Great fun.
I was in the Navy and stationed at NAS Fallon 9/85 to 11/86. Sand Mountain was impressive.
Thanks Ruma
I LOVE your videos! And you are so right! No loneliness, but solitude!
That's it :)
@@evazubeck Yup, how does Milan Kundera put it? The unbearable lightness of being! For me, that brings to mind solitude.
It's nice to watch a video from someone who understands the "blessings of solitude" :)

@@thezendeveloper4097 I've been on hikes in the Mojave where I could actually hear people breathing who were buried in shallow graves.

Thank You!
