One of my favorite games of all time, yes it’s very very outdated and on a old handheld console but the maps, story, flying from ground to space, and even the enlarged capital ship’s interior are some of the best in Star Wars, plus don’t forget about the customization for the trooper
The orbital strike cannon renders any exterior enemy command post neutral. So from red to white. Im pretty sure that’s how it works, from memory. It also can destroy the icon cannon.

Elite Squadron is just kind of a shame. You can tell this game is badly stitched together by whatever they could salvage from Battlefront 3 (the story mode is literally the same as the leaks of it) but with seemingly no time or budget to actually develop more than the most barebones version of the plot.
@@morsecode980 Yeah, like Kota recruiting X2; I had one tab playing the DS screen and another tab in the background playing the audio from the WIP cutscene.
29:31 I know it's not exactly an excuse but to be fair this isn't meant to be a sequel to Renegade. Elite Squadron was literally meant to be the PSP/DS ports of Battlefront 3 but then when actual Battlefront 3 got cancelled they ended up getting downsized more or less. Again, really depressing that we're never gonna see what the main port was supposed to look like outside of broken leaked builds. But yeah it's weird to explain to people I know. Elite Squadron was made into its own thing for some reason when the original game was cancelled. Honestly the more I think about it the more bizarre Elite Squadron's existence even is.
What people don't seem to understand is that the PSP version is the closest we'll ever get to having Battlefront 3. Like Elite Squadron literally is 3. exact story and everything. But the head of Lucas Arts decided putting it on consoles wasn't worth it.

Dorkaxe made an enjoyable video to watch. Neat! Seriously though, I liked the part about how changing the way the battles end from previous games, removes a sense of tension and progression to the battles, making them feel the same all the way through.
With regards to 20:00, it's worth noting various other games work like this too, TF2 for instance will bring you into third person a bit after shooting with the sniper and then auto-zoom back in, but it's done in a better way. For one you can just turn the feature off if you don't like that behavior, and secondly if you right click before the auto-zoom kicks in then it will cancel it.
Played this game so much its UMD case broke. While I think renegade is better overall as a battlefront game, this was THE Battlefront 3 many fans had been wanting. The hero assault maps, air-to-space, and campaign all really stood out to me. Plus the unlocking customization options was a kinda neat idea but very tedious. I was playing this series since classic battlefront 1 on my family PC. It felt very satisfying to play Elite Squadron on my psp as a full circle kind of moment.
All 99 reviews of this game call it mid. But to be completely honest, I will jump in happiness if they bring it to the PS4/5 with the PS+ premium program. Great video as always Dork. This game hurts me deeply. I’ve spent my entire life playing SWBF (starting with 2), my buddy had BF on the PSP (I think this one, I’m can’t quite remember). I was so jealous of the ability of the customize soldiers, although the lack of medals bothered me. My brother had the PSP and cherished it, I finally found “Star Wars: Elite Squadron” on the DS. Finally, I could play Galactic Conquest on the road or so I thought. I got home and it was simply a campaign about 2 brothers, no galactic conquest to speak of. I still beat the game out of frustration and held some hope that maybe GC was locked behind the campaign (the end had me stuck for a while). In the end, still nothing. I was so upset that I paid my saved up money to not be able to play galactic conquest. I still play the original BFII to this day, so there’s that at least.
Hey Dorkaxe you made two Metroid references in this video. Have you ever played any game in the Metroid series? If so i would love to see a review for the prime trilogy or the GBA games. Another great video as always
Oh wow, sure enough, I did! I forgot about the Metroid Fusion reference haha. Maybe! I'm re-playing Metroid Prime 2 right now. I really love the series, so I'll think about it when I get a few other videos made.
I can see the Captail ship mechanic being re-used perhaps giving the army a better reinforcements as in medics and heavy troops with snipers while keeping the assault units high.
it's the main game mode of Battlefield 2142, each team having a capital ship hovering above the map that eventually requires boarding (through a number of different means) and a pitched battle inside the enemy ship to take it out. I think they reused it in battlefield 4 with boats but i literally never played a match of it.
Sounds similar to Capital Assault from EA Battlefront 2. There you play a command post capture match, then whoever wins boards the enemy's cruiser, and the opposing team defends it.
It would’ve been so awesome if they just remade renegade and elite for the Xbox and included it in the battlefront classic collection, that would’ve made so much money for the company haha
I remember playing this a lot on the PSP when I was a kid, replaying the story many times. But when I tried playing this again on my..."PSP", dear god I wondered how I played this without being annoyed by the Ion Canon lines. I would say I would still find some enjoyment of the story mode that conquest, but yeah this game was rough. This game was intended to be the cancelled Battlefront 3 with these characters, which you can find some gameplay and cutscenes. The cutscene of X2 going to Dantooine was really sick to view on potential ps3/xbox360 graphics it made me think of what if this could be an animated series. @Dorkaxe oooow someone all in their feelings. Maybe A understand its made for a psp and B don't go invisible then walk right next to people.
Fun review but your inability to factor in development hurdles and chalk up something bad to the developers “not trying” comes off as extremely amateur for someone whose been doing this for so long. It’s the difference between this being a long form analysis and you just talking about something for an hour. Fun review though.
This guy doesn't understand game design. Saying that a counterattack wouldn't ever work is so dumb.
