    Hope everyone has a good day! Got a old, broken laptop? Convert the screen to an external monitor, watch this: th-cam.com/video/WCWD4wzmpDU/w-d-xo.html

    after laptop hopping for the past yeart, I found one of these on ebay for 75$, which after VAT and shipping ended up being ~120. factor in a brand new 4 cell 60wh battery from the dell website and I'm honestly impressed with the massive battery life of this device. mine also has a smart card reader slot, and I heard there are variations that even have nfc and fingerprint readers. also I am not entirely sure, but I think you can put a 2242 nvme ssd in the wwan slot if you dont need the sim card capabilities, and probavly 32gb of ram would work, since the 16gb limitation was mainly because 32gb sodimms didn't exist at that time.

    I don't think you noticed but they actually put a wrap paper on the lcd back lid that is pre-cut to cover all the imperfections (aka scuffs) for these purposes which makes it very bad business practice since they sell them as grade A sometimes.. Check yours if you got one! A lot of other suprises under the hood if you actually run the full diagnostics as well.. Be aware..

    I bought a laptop from the same family though from ebay for a throw in the bag ultraportable. It's mainly for light admin for a trade association I volunteer for, note taking and leading meetings. I paid £100 and spent about £50 upgrading it (RAM and more modern SSD). Fantastic little machine and good to keep someone's ewaste working. Mine has the 1080p display and touch, big selling points for me were it's small form factor and amazing battery life (7 hrs). Would love a more modern equivalent for some extra oomph but does its job perfectly well.

    I got this for my work as a upgrade for my 2012 Apple MBP with quad core CPU hack.
    The best thing is that this laptop it supports m.2 SATA and m.2 pcie SSD's. Depending on CPU, you can get 1000mbps or like in my case with i7, I was able to get 1500mbps with a Samsung pcie nvme SSD.
    Great laptop and for the price I paid (210$ refurbished), it's a great device. However, I'll have to upgrade it from 8gb to 16gb RAM. 8gb isn't enough to get Windows 11 flawlessy running on it. Before you ask, in the Installer that you have if you burn a USB flash drive with windows on it, you have to open command prompt, type regedit.exe and change the values of certain entries. I don't know how legal it's to discuss it here but I can certainly say that it works and you might get error with activation but later on your just go to settings, re-enter product key and then it'll activate properly

    You're better off getting the 1080p screen even if your just using 720p settings because of the screen quality. Typically the 720p is TN while the 1080p is IPS. While the technical specs might not entertain you too much, any serious time watching that screen will your eyes thank you.

    Computers generally die within 3 weeks, or not at all. So a refurbished one is the best option...

    retainer screws... look out with the battery. the cellls look a bit bloated. The cells in my e5570 swelled up so much that they cracked open the lower case and nearly burst open.

      So far, no complaints - and I say no complaints, I mean my son has no complaints! 😁 He uses it daily for school and hasn't had any issues with the battery and no issues with the laptop as a whole.

    Does the TN 1366 x 768 display not bother you? I was considering this laptop but lack of a FHD screen gives me pause. I don’t know. This would be my main laptop.

      On the bottom of my laptop, there is a certified refurbished sticker. But, there is no way to know unless you look at the device and it seems used or dinged up. Hopefully you got a good one!

    How good is it for gaming?

    • @techfulgoodies
      @techfulgoodies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not good at all. It would only have intel integrated graphics. If you are looking for something that would game, it would need a dedicated graphics chip like AMD or NVIDIA

    • @elsombero1747
      @elsombero1747 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Intel CPU is too weak for serious gaming. Even if you upgrade it and replace the WiFi card with one of those GPU extension cables to plug in something like a GTX 1050ti.

      Id only recommend it for light games (by light as in games that run on anything)
      I recommend playing stuff like
      Minecraft with fast settings and optifine
      Roblox
      (Most source 1 games like portal half life 2 should run well at medium games like tf2 and csgo are more intense so id recommend low)
      But any more than this would overheat the laptop
      The 8th gen i5 is alright its good enough for most tasks and should handle thinsg well as long a sit doesnt overheat but the intel uhd graphics were too weak even in their release

    • @GL887
      @GL887 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It has a processor of intel i5 and from my own research thats kinda weak for those applications,but idk!U can always ask reddit and quora but id say if you're only using the two applications and not for heavy work,its probably fine

    Which one is good 7280 or 7290?

    • @techfulgoodies
      @techfulgoodies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I only have tried the 7290 so I would suggest checking the specs and how they would work for you on each model.
