i beleive they do but theyre all cost about 2000.00 if you have a competent machine shop near you then its gonna cost a little less in machine work with a stock bloc. i still have my OG 1979 302 in my zephyr so i need retro fit roller camshaft and thats ok with me. i wouldnt expect more than 1200.-1500 in machine work MAX if you get crazy with it even in more higher cost of living areas.
@angry408w7Blueprint said they won’t sell the block separate? That’s the first thing I did was went on there site to look for the bare block lol. Almost nobody wants that weak cam in there hot rod lol
They definitely need to offer bare blocks and short block assemblies. There are countless of Fox guys with good heads on tired OE short blocks out there looking for an upgrade.
Man, I still remember the days of the M-6010-A50 blocks. So cheap and plentiful. Should have bought warehouse full of them back in the 90's and been "the guy" on E-bay selling these today.
This is a beautiful engine that block is a work of art. O wish i had the scratch to snap one up and toss it in my 95, i know theres people saying 361? Thats slack but 361hp with a "mild" cam means this thing would eould feel pretty stout on the street and be night and day, stripped down on the dyno gross HP from a factory 5.0HO is closer to 250hp so thats over 100hp more thats significant and with a bigger cam probably could get closer to 400hp. I would think with this engine you would want to either run gt40 or aftermarket intake bigger throttlebody and aftermarket headers the stock HO parts would choke this engine TQ would be killer but that 361hp would be a fantasy.
Will a stock world class T-5 hold up, or will you need to upgrade the T-5 and what size fuel injectors should you run, and can this block handle boost or any other force induction application
No mention of using this in a 94-95 mustang . I’m assuming the timing cover would need to be changed over at the least . Anything else that needs to be addressed ?
If they dyno each engine and provide a dyno sheet, does it still need to be 'broken in'? That 4 bolt HD block is much needed! Great package at a great price. I paid over $2K and waited forever to get a Dart SHP block in 2022.
Blueprint website says the timing cover is for standard rotation water pumps only. Won't putting a reverse rotation, like the foxbody, cause cooling issues?
No. That's a confusing fitment note. The current reverse rotation water pumps that are available have a separator plate with circular holes instead of holes designed for a specific rotation. You can see what I'm talking about by clicking the link to the Motorcraft water pump below. We have one of these engines in one of our cars with a reverse rotation water pump. The cooling system is right on the money. -Landan lmr.com/item/LRS-38501B/mustang-ford-motorcraft-water-pump-pw291-79-93
Yeah I get the mindset that much money and cast pistons??? but This day n age a cast piston and cast cranks isn't the same cast parts from back in the day. Hell people are getting 1000hp from cast rotating assemblys all the time so why would you even want forged pistons unless you're using a power adder? They are trying to sell a rock solid engine that will last for years and years of trouble free operation and using a hypereutectic piston is a no brainier, they are quieter and cause way less cylinder wear than forged, besides it would just end up adding to the cost of the engine. Its a 360hp street engine using forged pistons would be pointless and a bad idea and if you plan on using a power adder this isn't the type of engine you should be looking at even tho I'm sure you could use one within reason. But also down the road if you want to build a fire breather this is one killer foundation having an aftermarket block and heads that could prob flow pretty killer with some porting. That block is beautiful imo and you are way ahead of the game with it over the factory block thats definitely has a limit they say 500hp but that's not true it's more of a TQ limit like failure from building insane TQ with boost.
This setup is more for low budget people and those who are less knowledgeable on building cars/engine. I doubt having forged pistons would be a selling point to those kinds of people, because they probably aren't turboing, or heavily modifying it anyways.
Hand in his pocket and knees out because of shorts , yeah this guy just built a fantastic engine and you can see the pride showing , the engine starts up then blows up and this guy in shorts can't understand why . Thumbs down Knees 😂
That fitment note causes confusion. We have this engine in one of our shop cars with the reverse rotation water pump from our finishing kit. It works perfect! I'd go down the rabbit hole of explaining everything, but figured it's just easy to confirm that it works. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks. -Landan
We have recieved a lot of comments to offer other engine options from BluePrint. We have passed those comments along to the product team to consider other engines.
@@chriswise1232 well, without forged pistons, forced induction, too much timing, or too many rpms will make for a bad day. Sure seems like a hell of a lot of money for a slightly improved block and heads with junk everything else.
I apologize if this is a dumb question, my mechanical knowledge is limited to weekend warrior stuff. Vehicle fitment on your page is limited to mustangs and bronco. But just out of curiosity, could this work in a gen Tacoma? Hypothetically.
We don't work with Toyota/Lexus vehicles, so we wouldn't be able to answer that question accurately. We would recommend asking a Toyota-specific forum or Facebook Group for more info.
@@mikeivey3711 no reason really, just saw the video pop and like you said, it’s probably similar to the 4.7. Big tire garage did a nice 4.7 swap on his little single cab overlander.
