A VERY cool MK2 & driven by a gent from my generation. We didn't have ABS, traction control or driver modes to save us from ourselves.. In fact servo assisted brakes & electric windows were witchcraft to us.
All you guys that were hatched after 1975 owe us old gits a huge debt of gratitude. Some of our over enthusiastic friends died during the development of modern day motorcycles/cars. For y'all from the Playstation generation 🙂

Just wonderful. So many memories. I built a 285hp tuned rover v8 mk2 escort conversion 40 years ago. 2000 hours work. XJ6 4 speed box, rover auto bellhousing with adaptor plate. Huge other spec. Regularly blew off one guy with a 308GTS Ferrari from traffic lights on the way to work. This 500hp machine is on another level, and from another era.

They put cossie engines into MK2s in the '90s nothing new. Fabulous memories of Brighton Marine Parade, the nights were ours! Wish I could go back..
30 odd years ago I had a mk1 Escort with a 2.1 pinto, all steel, lightened, balanced, paddle clutch, forged pistons, dry sump, on webber 45's and a 5 speed gearbox. Twin anti roll bars and a 5 linked atlas axle with a limited slip diff.
It was proper quick, but this is in a different league. The only thing I'd like to add to this guys car if it were mine would be anti lag so it would always be on boost. That is if you don't mind paying the extra money to keep dumping fuel straight into the exhaust to keep the turbo spooled up that is.
I always wanted an Escort with a Cossie YB in it (an RS 500 engine with the secondary fuel rail wired up and running a Zytek piggyback ECU would've been my ultimate dream). But alas, my pockets have just never been deep enough. And the prices that tidy Escorts are fetching nowadays means that it'll probably always remain just a dream.....(boo hoo).

Love the car and the workmanship is superb but……. On the road doing that sort of dumb shit is what gives car guys a bad reputation. It only takes a kid to swerve onto the road on his bike or a pedestrian or other vehicle to do something unexpected and then someone ends up dead. Just not worth it. Keep it for the track.

My mate built the 2nd rs2000 cosworth rs 500 conversion back in the 90's Paul bailey built the first one. The car was savage, the only issue with the car was that the struts in the boot started to twist with the power. I hope this one has had a good seam welded job on it because otherwise it will twist the body. Great cars and I know how brutal the acceleration is. It was so quick back in the day only 1000cc bikes could stay with it
