the upgraded rims is good. bought my daughter a Marlin 5. she just biked through pave roads and had done probably one small jump from the side walk. i used it once and found the rims out of true already. i returned it and got her a Roscoe 7. more money but better fork and tires/rims. not to mention Deore drivetrain. marlin 5 has no clutch
I can get my hands on one of these, I'm finding it hard to pick what bike to get on a budget. I like this model with the new geo for trails, I want something that I can do fun trails with ( not really massive jumps etc ) but also go on an hours ride with the partner comfortably, would you suggest this bike over the san quentin 1? both about the same price in Australia, leaning more towards trek but not sure
Giant's Fathom 2 2021 is still lighter and all around better for trail. Already has a thru and BOOST rear axle and already has a dropper and it's 12 speed Deore. And it's still cheaper than the Marlin 8. It's already the end of 2022 and Trek Marlins still aren't boosted. SMH.
I'm about to buy one but will mainly use for commuting and the odd bit of off road. With the ten gears, does it get up to reasonable speed or is it lacking on flat surfaces?
Went on to try Marlin 6, Marlin 7 & specialized rockhopper comp 2x. For commuting, 2x is the way to go since the higest gear is way higher then only 1 in the front. But it's "harder" to shift when going off road. I want the marlin 6 to be honest but now im looking at the stonehopper comp since the price is the same and offer better gears when commuting.

roscoe 7 for paved roads is overkill. if she told you she wanted to get into mountain biking then i understand but if not then its a bit too much
The best color imo is sage the color is sharp asl in person
A great all around bike!! $899 here in the states.
I really enjoyed my gen 2
This bike I think would look better with the maxxis crossmark II tyres and they can be ran tubeless

THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO MR CLARK
Hi chris and chat! Any idea what rockshox or fork that would replace the stock Sr Suntour xct30? Thanks
The best would be Rockshox Recon Silver, but Manitou makes an option too, i've just not had any usage with them
I just bought a Marlin 6 Gen 2. Should I return it and wait for the Gen 3 I’m really loving that blue frame.
Depends where you are, no word on us/can getting them anytime soon
No, in australia they went up from $950 to $1200.
Did they fix rattling in this version?tnx

MARLIN 7 GEN 2 is a bit cheaper than MARLIN 6 GEN 3, which one would you recommend if both are around the same price?
