I have driven all the way from Mumbai to Narkanda via, Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Agra, Delhi, Manali, Shimla, and back.

You can fill the fuel from Reckong peo and Powari ..which is in Distt. Kinnaur on the way of Spiti valley

We planned to visit Spiti in 2018 ....went to Manali as per plan. But got stuck there due to the flood of September 2018... Sadly, had to cancel our Spit plan . However, we changed plans and went to Bir Biling (where I had my first ever paragliding experience) then to McLeodgunj. Enjoyed to the fullest, but have to visit Spiti ...it's a different world altogether !!
Haha reminds me of my Spiti trip in 2017 where a landslide made us change our route and we spent time enjoying Sangal valley/Chitkul..so stunning. I guess with mountains and Nature you just have to surrender.

How much time it takes from Manali by Bus ?
It takes around 12 hours from Manali to Spiti Valley by bus. But as of now the route is shut. You can access Spiti from Shimla instead

Can anybody suggest what will be best time to travel - April or June/ July ?
Snow starts melting in April or May... that's the best time to travel. July and August is the rainy season... due to landslides roads get blocked.

Hi Aniket, If you hope to watch some snowfall, go in December-January. Else, travel from April to June, but try and return before the rains, to avoid landslides

Spiti is pretty year round. Snow ho ya summers :) You can reach Spiti all year round. Only thing is that Rohtang Pass is shut in winters-roughly Oct end-March. So if you decide to visit the valley then, in that case you will have to enter valley via Shimla-Kinnaur and retreat via the same route. Hope I was able to help. Please do watch Spiti videos I have put up on my channel too, hopin they can help in some way.
