  • Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #361
If you've ever sat in the Tecopa natural hot spring and looked up at the mountains to the east, you may have noticed a little splotch of green about halfway up that barren expanse. This is Chappo Spring, a very remote desert homestead with some really cool old cars, and a pretty substantial oasis! Who lived here? Let's try to figure it out!

A Paiute woman named Juanita Weed lived on the property in the 1970s. Her daughter Delores Simmons was a neighbor of mine in Moapa. Sadly, she passed away recently. Another daughter, Marie Wilson still lives in Pahrump. Thanks for the Adventures SJ.

The yellow truck looks like a Dodge 1950s. The first Black car is a 1960 Plymouth Fury, second blue and white car with bullet holes is a 1957 Chevrolet Bel-air 4 door, the third car is a white 1957 Plymouth staton-wagon. such cool cars. Thank you, Sara.

Chappo Springs was a training area used by the USMC in the 1960s. There is two old mines located west of the springs. There is also an old cemetery (dating back to 1860s) in the hills.

Indeed. Maybe we can chip in and get Larry a trash pick up tool. An old board/rod from that old shack (assuming it ain't a "historical site") and a rusty nail might work, but then again splinters and lock-jaw ain't no joke; ok back to the fancy tool.

1st time in Tecopa. What a neat sleepy oasis in the Mojave!. Weird to watch your video at the turnoff from hwy, but it was the first thing that came up on my Google search. Saw the palm trees from the hot pool just outside of Town yesterday and knew I had to check to see if there was a pool...wah, wah, wah guess not. Thanks for funny & colorful commentary...I think your side gig should be as a tour guide...maybe at Hoover Dam, or Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

The last vehicle is a 59' Plymouth Suburban, and the the second a 57' Chevrolet BelAir, and of course the 60' Fury wagon. The truck is a bit difficult, but I believe it is 49' Chevrolet 3100 Pickup.
