    It's been a while since I had the opportunity to play Mahjong in any form (at the table or in a video game). I started playing Yakuza 0, but I'm not very far at the moment, yet I knew that playing Mahjong is one of the optional activities within Yakuza 0, and in fact I was looking so much forward to it that I asked a friend of mine who finished Yakuza 0 when I will be able to play Mahjong. I looked up some gameplay videos of Yakuza 0's Mahjong to see if it's actually good, then somehow stumbled over your 3-part video game series on Mahjong -- and now I'm here. The refresher on the rules is definitely appreciated, thank you ! One point of critique though: After explaining the tiles, I would have shown a table with the game fully set up, then the basic turn structure of players taking and discarding tiles, so absolute newcomers get an idea what the game's flow and core structure is. Anyway, I tried to find a good modern version on Steam (I played Four Winds Mahjong years ago), but could not find one on Steam. There is apparently one, but its presentation is too heavily leaning on its anime presentation to my personal taste. Is there another good Mahjong on Steam that I might have overlooked, or can you know a good website where I can play it online ? Thanks ! :) PS: I was surprised you did not mentioned Four Winds Mahjong in your video game series !

      @@thechugg4372 For Kaiji part 3, they only go mangan and above, so the scoring system isn’t really relevant at all. Mangan is 8000, then there’s, 12000, 16000, etc. For Akagi, they always tell you the value of the hand, so there’s no reason to learn fu and the scoring system just to read those

      Nice. Akagi's first episode does a fair job of explaining the basics in a short span of time, but having some knowledge ahead of time makes the show way more engaging. In fact, I enjoyed it a lot more when I watched it for a second time after a few years of playing.

    Can someone tell me what is the advantage of ricci

    • @GameEscape
      @GameEscape  4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Riichi is its own yaku (winning condition), so if you have a lower value hand, declaring Riichi can allow you to win the hand. It can also be used strategically to put pressure on other players, which is useful if you have multi tile wait. As a beginner, though, I would advise just recognizing when you are in riichi and calling it. You'll then slowly learn when calling riichi is optimal and when it is better to hold off.

    • @ayufisher1573
      @ayufisher1573 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can declare to win with any hands(but remember,it doesn't means you can get large points)
      but most importantly,your foe will know you are in tenpai,so if they are far away from tenpai,they will withdraw.so riichi can be deterrent for your foe(but it also means you have to deal any tiles in riichi even if it is you dont want to deal,ofcourse you can declare to win if you draw winning tile).
