  • During the upcoming Philippine elections voters will use Smartmatic Vote-Counting Machines to register their vote.
Watch this step-by-step tutorial on how to vote and learn more about the Philippine elections.
On May 9, more than 50 million Filipinos will head to the polls to elect executive and legislative branches for all levels of government.
Voters will mark their preferences on a ballot and then proceed to use Smartmatic technology to register their choice. As soon as the voter inserts the marked ballot into the VCM, the scanner reads the ballot, interprets the selections made, and emits a verification signal when the ballot is deemed valid.
At the end of the voting process, the VCM counts all the stored votes and produces copies of the precinct’s total tallied votes, and then transmits its results to the national or regional polling centers, making this modern voting method 100% secure and transparent.
Similar technology has allowed the Philippines to drastically reduce the time to obtain results. When counting was done manually it would take weeks to process all votes.
In the previous 2010 General election in the Philippines, approximately 800 million votes were registered and processed in hours.
