      QueenWandaful Yes indeed, I can definitely relate! I was also Blessed to hug, 💋 kiss, interact with & spend quality time with both my grandmother & great grandmother (on my mother's side of the family & they both lived to be 96 years of age)! In which I will always remember & cherish! I also really 👍 like your profile name!!!! 👑💪😃❤

    Powerful interview. We need to encourage our parents and grandparents to give us history before they pass on. We have to have context on how to navigate in the future, and understand the struggle and sacrifice our ancestors made. Like she stated, kids are selling their inheritance because the parents didn't instill in them the importance of keeping it.

    Zora Neale Hurston put Eatonvile, FL on the map, growing up there and referencing it in her books and short stories like, the novel, "Their Eyes Were Watching God" and short stories, "Spunk" and "Gilded Six Bit".

    This is one of the problems of blk people.. Here in the South blk people own land and houses... Some own acres and acres of land.. But like the lady said the younger generation will sell the property not realizing the value of what they have... Blk people need to start holding more value to tangibles like land and homes.. Not Gucci and Prada.. Realize the value of what your people built for you.. I tell blk people here this all the time... Before we have nothing to hold on to.. Great video Phil...

    I am so amazed by this broadcast..l myself a few of my relatives and childhood friends were migrant workers in the Peach orchards of Middle Georgia during the summer months. As her grandmother was talking l remember the "peach bus" that would pick up in different spots in the city to gather up workers to harvest the peach crop when the picking season began. We were under the legal age to work in formal businesses or just didn't get hired so we would stand out there and let the "driver/migrant manager" size us up to see if we would be a strong worker that would not flake out in the sun or be lazy. We were paid any where from .10 cent to .25 cent per bushel bucket. I was a hard worker and would on average pick 100 buckets per day if we were in a good orchard with ripe peaches. I did this until I was of legal age to work then I started working as a maid at a motel in a small town on the weekends and during the Summer months....l am a 60's baby...

    there go that word segregation. it was a bad thing, but it was also a good thing for us because we had unity, community, and self sufficiency. however, we did not have social equality or equal opportunity and we still don't.

    • @SFgamer
      @SFgamer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't go as far as to say that we don't have equal opportunity. There are a lot of us who are successful.

    • @msblaqueink
      @msblaqueink 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SFgamer We have opportunity but it's not equal to Whites. You know we have to work twice as hard to get those opportunities that Whites have. We are far and few between when it comes to certain positions and industries. We don't have many Black CEO's, head coaches, sports owners, presidents, I can go on. White ppl make sure they get the whole pie and they just pass Black ppl a sliver. Then at the end of the day, they try to talk you out of your little piece of pie or give you a smaller slice than they promised you.
