- Demonstrators in Kenya are gathering in towns and cities to protest against a finance bill that would raise taxes.
Public outcry has already forced the government to withdraw some of contentious provisions, including a 16% tax on bread and an annual 2.5% tax on vehicles.
But protesters say this is not enough and have demanded that legislators, who are currently debating the bill in parliament, to reject the entire bill.

Example Maddam Kenyatta who owns above hundred thousand hectors of land am talking about 200,000 thousand and above hectors not by single pot by hectors...So imagine if she own that much of land, how many does her son who was the former president... Imagine how many hectors of land other big Government Officials own.. So it may seem like move for those land and saw it the only is to include everyone and not just not a set of People... Seeing the Economical hardship in the Country seizing those lands and selling them to Foreigners for a substantial fee.. But that's not a noble and good move towards ur own people or even taxing them, which they claim it would easy up the inflation in the country

Many government officials receive huge salaries while imposing more taxes on the citizens. On top of that, many, if not 90%, are still getting paid a lot and yet they are still stealing from the people. Gen Z has started a revolution so the rest of the nationals need to support them through this and back them up if necessary. We all remember the protest in 2007 when people fought against themselves and many died without cause. Today Kenyan Gen Z stand together despite their background. I wish all the best to the young Majuaas fighting.

Politicians are expert at wasting money, so nobody should pay more than 10% of their wages in taxes, especially if they're only making average or less. And income tax should be the only tax.

This is the worst fear for all African governments: an educated young population who are competent enough to talk about issues & not tribal politics. The centralization of Kenya has actually worked against the government because the tribal element has thinned over time & young people, especially the so called Kenyan middle class, understand the bleak future ahead of them if we stay on course. All that said, politicial conciousness is a longterm game and i'm certain Ruto & his ilk are waiting for the present moment ecstasy to abate because our educational philosophy is centered on producing an apolitical, naive young person, very much like the U.S.

We are being told more taxes is needed to pay Kenya's debt, but the loans were embezzled and misappropriated. Those loans should have gone to projects that would generate income that can be used repay those loans. Not come start crying to us how we need to pay debt that we know nothing about.
