Thank you so much for these lessons. I always thought I could not play barre chords. I watched so many videos which teach that you need to squeeze hard. This did not work for me; I ended up hurting my thumb. The other method was to push the ukulele against your index finger. This also did not work for me. After watching this video, I was able to play a barre chord better than I have before. It still needs work, but I feel like I may be able to play a few barre chords. I do not know if I will be able to play all of the barre chords but this is a great start.
Thank you for your videos. I am learning and having fun. I can watch the same video again and learn something that I may not have processed the first time around. I am enjoying playing so much more, and my hands feel better too. 😃🎵

Thank you for weaving in music theory with beginning song learning. And for introducing barr chords early so they dont feel so undoable.

    Hi Phil
I've just worked my way through your lessons.
I like the way you sneak the circle of fifths in through the backdoor.
You might consider 2 things: 1) get your students of on a song in lesson 1. Brother John csn be played using your strum and the C chord. It is SO much more fun to practice a song rather than just chords. 2) how about getting your students in the habit of playing playalongs right away? Make a "Brother John" in C playalong, a "When the Saints.." and so forth. Yours like Chris Russels GCEA University requires quite a lot of patience on behalf of the student. I wonder if that's why Cynthia Lin is so popular, because she gets people playing right away. Just a thought.
You, by the way, is WAY better on theory, so I'll look forward to the next lessons.
    Cheers
    Mort

      Thanks,
Yes, I think if I were to do it again I would probably do that! I always try and sneak some theory in :-)

Everything seems hard... until the next harder thing comes along, and then you wonder why you thought the first thing was so hard! You'll get there!

Phil, I enjoyed this beginner series of lessons. Do you offer lessons to help us continue to progress on your Patreon page? I'd like to keep learning in a logical method. Thanks.

Hi Doug. You might find a bit of a leap from these lessons to my Pateron lessons (though there are some simple songs on there). My Patreon focusses on blues, jazz, & American folk music.
I will be posting more beginner lessons on TH-cam very soon!

Many thanks for briniging to Beginner Ukulele well taught lessons without mention of the use the ubiquitous "pinky" digit. There is one question I have to ask, having watched all these lessons and one or two others, what is the story of the illustration behind your right shoulder?
