Video ideas:
1) What's up with putting pictures on "the wire" for papers to pick them up? What wire where? Can anyone do that? Do I need to show someone my portfolio? Any risks? Do you have to sign up for Getty or something? Etc. How stiff is the competition and how many thousands of submissions do they get? USA and GB are probably different on that but would like to hear whatever you feel comfortable sharing.
2) Catching the celebration. You are good at that. I still struggle. Is that about knowing the timing? Pulling the camera away from your eye to scan the field? Is the focus so different that I need to be thinking about settings instead of faces? If you've got a conscious process, would love to hear some discussion from the chair about that.
3) Thoughts on including other photographers in your shots. I generally try to leave them out, but the better the game, the more of us are there of course. Sometimes it will add to the sense of drama so that can be good. You've already shared some good thoughts on etiquette and respect for other photogs, which I grown from. Thank you for that.
4) Like your idea of a video on how the papers end up using the photos. Especially images of what was sent vs used. Even after being told ahead of time, I was surprised at how much they will crop out at some papers. What's your meg limit? I won't send anything less than 2meg in size, but find myself feeling queezy about going that low. Sometimes the paper's own photographer(s) may feel a sense of competition and building relationships can help I think (?). Does anyone want the photog to provide the conversion to BW? The papers arent always good at keeping that flat enough but, in my world, they dont want that from you. .... and so on.
Great video again mate. If you have spare time over the off season and fancy it, a video on motorsport would be great - I really fancy truck racing photography, I don't think there are many videos on this.

Love all your videos, the list you talk about doing sounds great. I would love to see a video that sort of discusses the nuts & bolts of “how” you work…how are you assigned games? Who hires you? How are you paid? I’m not asking for any specific numbers, just a genuine curiousity of how your workflow happens. I’m self employed and always enjoy talking w other creative people about how their jobs “work”. Keep up the great work, I’m a big fan!

Hi mark, thanks for the video, you captured the action and atmosphere of the game superbly..The Riverside Stadium is really local to me, I quite often walk the dog along the river on the opposite bank when there is an evening game with the floodlights on as it makes for quite a nice shot sometimes, especially if there is a bit of mist and the river is calm for some reflections..keep up the good work and looking forward to you getting back into the woodland.
Thanks for another great video, Mark! I'd be interested to see how you set up your laptop to receive photos from Canon's WFT adapter, how you set up your remotes (eg, if you cable them to your laptop, or grab the cards at the end of each half), and any other workflow tips you may have.

Usually over 1250 if light allows. I find it more indoors when I’m shooting basketball at 3200 ISO
I always use auto iso, F2.8 and keep my shutter speed high enough for the action while keeping my ISO to below 800 if I can
Good settings, they are, very similar to what I use👍🏻
That’s cause you taught me them from watching yours and Rob Shambles channel 😊. I mainly get noise in my photos when shooting high ISO’s…2000+. I notice in your photos you don’t have hardly any. I’m struggling to understand why when other photographers don’t have the same issue

Hi Mark. Love your videos and youre enthusiasm . Not into ball sports but interested to see how you set about it. Great work 👌. I’m a motorsports snapper for the mags and using an R3 with the 100-500. Seems to do a good job but you have to get used to it. So different to a 1DX Mk2. After lots of experimenting I’m usually on electronic 1st curtain, auto ISO and case 4 on the A/F settings. Usually got vehicle tracking on but it can choose the wrong car/bike in a pack. Generally good though. Keep up the good work. 👍
Ah nice. I used to freelance for Motorsport News back in the day. Sad to see the rallying section is a lot smaller now! Sounds like you’ve the R3 set very similar to me. Interesting how you find small snags with the tracking for motorsport!
@@MarkKerton I’ve done MN at Snett since 1985 and Autosport since 1989. It’s a shame how the club sport has diminished over the years in the mags. F1 bores me rigid !! Yeah me and the R3 are getting there. 👌.

Any chance of a new setting video for the R5 for sport. I currently shoot in Raw cause I’m finding I get noise in my photos and not sure how to clean it up in JPEG 🫣
Noise on the R5. What ISO’s and f stops you shooting on?
.... and what shutter speed? Sometimes that issue will look like "noise".

Do you suggest using mechanical shutter or electronic shutter when shooting sports? Not just with the R5 but with any camera.
Definitely electronic on the R3. With its stacked sensor it’s spot on with no distortion. The R5 I tend to keep on mechanical for footy or and ball games👍🏻
