I bought a Sentro Machine a week ago but had a problem keeping it still. So I went to Walmart and bought a small crafting table and hot glued my Sentro to it. Best idea I ever had, I’ve made 9 hats so far. Yay!
Awesome! I love that out of the box thinking! I would love to see your projects! Please join our Facebook group Giftshqusa so you can upload pictures! I also host weekly live sessions on Saturday's at 12 EST and hope you can join! -Nancy❤
Suggestion for the Sentro & its suction cups: pick up a piece of 12-inch by 12-inch marble or granite slab, or ceramic floor tile, with a smooth, glossy surface. The suction cups will hold on that surface, and the weight of the tile helps keep it in place on the table. I paid less than USD 4.00 for a marble-look ceramic tile at one of the big box home improvement stores.
I have found glass works just as well. So if you have a glass table or even cheap glass end table/coffee table even. But I have found it does not like certain kinds of worsted weight (weight 4 yarn). Lately I've had better luck with only using a weight three. With a weight 4 it's been skipping and not knitting correctly. Really considering upgrading to a Addi tbh.
Was thinking of getting an Addi after my Sentro but after this review there is not much diff between the 2 machines. I’ll stick on to my Sentro . Really appreciate your review. ❤
The two hats at 23:13 do show a difference in size. The Sentro, to me, looks larger and with slightly nicer stitches. I think the added 2 needles make a difference. I like that you gave a real honest opinion on the two. Other sites that give their "honest opinion" always seems skewed towards the Addi as if they need to justify the high price. Thanks. I know a few people that have the Sentro and they love them.
I am glad you enjoyed it. I try to save money whenever possible. There are many low-cost items that can be used for and I like to share those tips. Hope you can join us for our live Saturday Crafternoon session!
After having the Addi for 7 years the handle has just snapped off. The counter on it gets effected with humidity. My Sentro I have had for over 8yrs and is still going strong. I believe it also does a neater knit.
@@SharoninKentucky Hi Sharon! Thanks for your comment. I have the 46 pin and 22 pin Addi machines. Both of them have analog (aka not electronic) counters. So far so good with regards to no issue due to humidity (me being in Miami). But I am aware that some Addi machines have digital counters. Thanks for your support! -Nancy ❤
My Addi was delivered yesterday from Germany and it only took 3 days. It is made with the most durable plastic materials available. It came with a 3 - ply skein of yarn, a very nice knit picker, 2 stoppers, a bent plastic darning needle, 2 leg clamps, 1 instruction book, 4 white needles, 1 black needle and 2 pattern books. It arrived by FedX and it was fun watching it travel from Germany to the U.S. One the the main things that sold me was, if a needle breaks, you can change it. There are other parts that can be replaced if needed. If a needle breaks on the other knitting machines, (at least the ones I have researched), they cannot be replaced, so they cannot be used. I made a hat yesterday with the yarn that was included and it came out very nice. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks Robin! So exciting that you can now start your knitting journey. Let me know which yarn is your favorite. You can post pictures on our Facebook group - Giftshqusa Hope you can join! -Nancy ❤
I would not buy anything but an Addi. The quality of the machines are by far better than the other plastic machine that you kept in the United States. I've had mine a long time and I've never had any issues whatsoever and I love working with all types of the arms there's no problems. It's a high-quality machine well worth the money
I purchased a sentro 48 last week and have tried 6 times to crank a hat - the last time getting to about 5 yards left of the yarn skein when it started skipping stitches AGAIN!! I spent 2 days trying. My sentro was not a smooth crank at all. The row counter stopped about the 5th row. Amazon is replacing it for me and I am hopeful, after watching this video, that I may get one that works as well as yours! A friend has knit 25 hats for gifts and has found the hat fits a child to an adult size. Need a smaller size for a baby/toddler. I enjoyed your video!
For a smaller size (baby size) I did about 60-80 rows. Also make a note if your machine keeps on skipping on the same needle. It may mean that needle needs to be replaced. Glad they are sending you a new one. Share a picture of your finished project. I would love to see it!
Sentro does a great job and that is what I originally purchased. I was surprised with the gift of the Addi machine and now I use both! You will make great projects!
I bought a sentry. The biggest problem I had was holding it down stable. I really enjoyed your comparison of the two machines. I am going to purchase the Addi. Thank you!!!!😃
I am so glad I could help. Please reach out if you have any questions! I would love to see the projects you make! Please join our Facebook group (Giftshqusa) -Nancy ❤
I've had my sentro for almost 3 years now, I have not had any problems with it, it's nice to do a quick knit, but I have AD\HD, bi polar as well as super high anxiety, I prefer to hand knit or crochet, watched a video last night of somebody making tubular strips and then making a warm blanket with it, so far I've knitted 2 blankets, but thinking of trying the knitting machine for a blanket and see what happens, only had my sentro drop stitches once when I first started out, hasn't happened since
Sentro is a great machine and having a hobby like knitting or crocheting is a wonderful way to assist with anxiety and other disorders. There are so many different blankets you can make. I wold love to see a picture of them on the Facebook group - Giftshqusa
Hey, search here on TH-cam for Dr Georgia Ede, Dr Natasha Campbell-Brown, Mikaila Peterson, and Phil Escott. They may be able to help your ADHD and bipolar. I've got ADD, anxiety, depression, and a sugar/wheat addiction and I'm going to start following their advice. Hope this helps
I used to make Bernie’s by hand on a circular loom but arthritis has put an end to that. I use 5 weight yarn and make hats for adults exclusively. Which, if either, would be the best choice given those requirements. Great video btw.
The handle on the Addi machine requires you to fully grasp it while the Sentro has an "L" shape that helps me grasp it better. There are other options using a low power drill as well. Hope this helps!
While shopping I found another plus to the Addi machine. They offer a power adapter, to replace the crank.. Just FYI : The Addi is more expensive, but may be worth it if you’re sure you’ll use it often because of the power crank, which you buy separately.
I bought the power adaptor for my Sentro and I love it. You just have to be aware that you cannot swap them over quickly, if you want to hand crank. Also I don't think it quotient take a lot of moving and removing but it's definitely worth the money. I almost am thinking it worth getting another Sentro to use without the adaptor. I have the 3 sizes and the two smaller ones definitely need securing on the right surface somehow, then they're all great I think.
Thank you for your video. I have both machines. I really like the ADDI construction but people complain about the hats being tighter from the ADDI. So I use the sentro 46 for hats.
Hi, I just recently bought the Sentro and so far so good. I've had my Addi for a year and love it. I decided to get a Sentro because the hats come out a little bigger and when I gifted hats made on the Addi, some people said they were kind of tight, but they stretch out over time. For the price I couldn't resist getting the Sentro. Thanks for this comparison. Happy New Year!🥳
Do you think that adjusting tension on your addi would help with the fit of hat? Just curious. Got it for Christmas and I’m now getting ready to use it.
Thanks for this comprehensive video. I have both of these machines. They both work well. The Addi feels a bit sturdier. I use light duty plastic C clamps from the hardware store to stabilize the Sentro and they work well to keep it steady. The two extra hooks on Sentro , makes a slightly larger tube which is nice. If you’re starting out I recommend the Sentro due to price. If you get into it for real, then consider the lovely but higher priced Addi. Consider that you can buy several Sentro machines for the price if one Addi. If it was a smaller price differential this would be less of an issue. What ever you can afford I say go for it. They’re really fun to use.
Yes they are lots of fun to use! I have been able to make a ton of gifts, and people love them! I started with a Sentro and quickly received an Addi machine. My hubby knew that I was hooked!😃 Year's later, I still use my machines and love them both!
I bought a Sentro and have continually had issues with dropped stitches. :( I've also found it to be rather picky with which yarn it accepts. Only 3 or 4 weight yarns work in my machine, but even so, there are some 4 weights that it just will not accept, which is rather frustrating. My machine actually broke a few months ago, as we were in the process of moving, and frankly I wasn't upset in the least! When I have the money, I plan to invest in the Addi!
Overall Addi is a better made machine but there are some little hacks out there you can try with the Sentro when working with different yarns. I will be creating a video after I finish all the testing and will let you know my findings. You also may be able to fix the Sentro. They sell replacement pins for a few dollars in case you want to give it another try. -Nancy ❤
@@GiftsHQ That is good to know, and I look forward to your video! But I threw the machine away in the process of our move because a large plastic part of the outter frame completely cracked and fell off. :(
My Sentro is so picky it won't even work with Simply Soft! I have had luck with Big Twist solids, thinner worsted weight. I finally had enough today and ordered an Addi!! The dropped stitches and catching gears did me in. I've only made a few hats in the 2 months I've had it.
That's what I have noticed as well with my Sentro. I am having problems with using certain weight 4s. Which is beyond irritating and I wish mine would break so I would have an excuse to buy a Addi 🙃
I think i would start with the sentro, (make some adjustments so it doesnt move about) and see how much Id use it and then think about if its worth spending on an addi...and gift the sentro to a teenager .
That sounds like a great plan. Some people tape down the legs or you can use velcro. I am going to make a video on the hat and scarf set I showed on my last live so tune in for that one! -Nancy ❤
I own both machines. I like the tensioner and crank handle on the Sentro, better than the Addi, but the counter on the Sentro tore up in no time, and I had to buy a digital one. I also bought C-clamps to hold it onto the table. The Sentro accepts fewer yarns than the Addi. The Addi does not come with a tensioner, and I have also ordered a more comfortable crank handle for my arthritic hands. You can make the same size hat on the Addi as the Sentro by using less tension. I have replaced both my Sentros with 46 and 22 pin machines. Love my Addis.
@dragicaabeleida1381 I don't ever use stoppers, nor do I use the panel switch. I just watch when the yarn goes down on the knob past the last needle, to start cranking the opposite way.
It's so hard to say. I think it depends on what I am making and the tension I need. With the Addi, I can control it with my hand and love that, but sometimes I prefer to use the Sentro so I can put the yard on the guide slot. I do love the way the Addi is built, and it seems like it will last longer, but rime will tell.
Ive heard the suction cups of the sentro stick better to clear packing tape, just be sure the table/surface you're sticking the tape to isn't going to be damaged by the tape first.
i use the cdwood round looms, and was looking for a knitting machine because i am making large hats for the needy, so i do appreciate you reviewing both of these. it's hard to make a choice. if you have ever used a large round loom with 41 pegs, can you tell me if the hat sizes are comparable? if not, no worries. thank you again for this review. take care
I have not used a loom in the past, but Sentro has 48 pins, and the Addi has 46 pins. Tension will be a factor when reviewing the width. Hope this helped.
I am shopping one of these and I still looking for an answer. Can you do, let say, socks with the biggest machine or for small items, you need the small machine? My goal is to craft, socks and hats for the family. Young kids and parents. So do I need both size? Thanks
In my opinion the big machine will allow you to make hats with different sizes (Both Addi and Sentro). The Addi machine gives you stoppers so you can probably make socks but you will need to modify the number of rows and then stitch it together. Otherwise use the smaller machine for socks. Hope that helps! -Nancy❤
Thank you I am working on some more videos and will share them soon. I also post pictures on our Facebook group -giftshqusa Hope you can join! -Nancy ❤
I have a really dumb newby question. When you start the regular colour after the waste yarn what peg do you start on? Is it the same peg that the waste yarn ends on or the one after? Sorry for all the questions
@@traceyfairbairn2982 I'm so sorry, I must have not seen this message. You could find my Facebook Group at facebook.com/groups/623208828727659 . I and the other members would love to see what you make. -Nancy ❤
@Tracey Fairbairn Tracey there are no dumb "newby" questions. We are all "newby" when we start something new. After you finish to cast on the waste yarn (and are about to use the regular yarn that you are using for your project), you start at the next pin. I hope this makes sense. I look forward to see what you have made on our FB group. Happy crafting. -Nancy ❤
I have the sentro and I will wet the suction cups before pressing it on my table and it helps with the suction to stay a little better, but I’ve also had problems with it dropping stitches or messing up the knit despite me just cranking normally, so it’s a little finicky and faulty and inconsistent which is frustrating , but I’ve gotten used to the sentro and I still like it !
What a great tutorial.! My question is would this hat fit a man's head? I normally knit hats for charity and need to make them to fit both women and men. Thanks so much.
Yes, absolutely. Both machines will allow you to create beanies for adults. I have another video where I made a beanie during a live and timed it under 30 mins. You can see a closeup there. Have fun! -Nancy ❤️
I have also seen people use velcro. So many different ways but it also depends on the surface you are using. Thanks for sharing and your support. -Nancy ❤
What are the stoppers for ? I just got my Sentro in two days ago and it didn't come with instructions or the needle. If it wasn't for TH-cam I wouldn't know how to use it. I've made 4 beanie hats so for . Coboo yarn works good in it.....makes for a good slouchy hat.
Oops, sorry I misread your question. It's been a crazy month with my father in the hospital, but to correctly answer your question. The stoppers allow you to make various size panels on your Addi circular knitting machine. If you need any help just reach out to me. I would be happy to help! - Nancy ❤
@@GiftsHQis there some place to buy stoppers for Addi? I just bought the 48 needle one but haven’t a clue how to make a smaller width panel on it? 🤷♀️ thanks.
So the stoppers just mark where you stop during panel knitting? Seems one could easily have someone with a 3d printer print some that would fit the Sentro.
I bought my Addi 22 needle two weeks ago. No accessories in box. I read reviews from others and they never received any accessories in their box. I have noticed some sewing machines come with accessories, but, not on Amazon and both sites charge the exact same price.
Good point! It is Always best to compare the item details as you sometimes get more value for your money with other vendors! Thanks for sharing! -Nancy ❤
For the beanies, I would use the 48-pin machine. You can also make the headbands with the 40-pin machine. Another great seller is the bears that you can make. They seem to do well at craft fairs.
I just ordered the Sentro 22 so that I can make baby booties and sweaters. It will be my first knit machine. Also I am a beginner at crochet. So after watching several videos I would think I could make sweaters as well as baby booties and hats. The bad thing the 22 does not come with a counter so I bought a hand held counter. But would love to have on with a counter. Do you know if the 48 would be able to make infant booties, infant sweaters or will it have too many gears that you could only make infant blankets and child and adult items??
I'm considering getting a one of these machines, probably the Sentro. I've been knitting and crocheting my whole life but recently have been having issues with my hands and shoulders that is limiting my ability to craft for longer periods of time without pain - especially knitting. I'm wondering if these machines can handle #4 yarn that is fairly loosely twisted and is rather splitty, or are you limited to the kinds of yarn that you can use with these? Thanks in advance!
I found the Addi was not consistent with the tensioned (applied by hand) and had many dropped and jumped stitches. Once I put my tensioner from my knitting machines, I had no problems. The Sentro comes with a very nice tensioner and had hardly no issues. The few I had were because the yarn tangled up mid stream and caused the dropped or jumped stitches. Yarn did not seem to matter. Have fun.
So many smart ideas in the comments for stabilizing the Sentro that is seems absurd to spend so much more money just for that one issue, especially considering the other Addi "cons."
There are definitely a lot of tips/hacks that you can find out there to help resolve issues. It is really just a matter of preference and what you are comfortable spending. -Nancy ❤
Most important is price is cost. You can buy 4 to 5 Sentro machines to one Addi. Also I had trouble with the counter on both machines. I’ve had my machines for several years before COVID and the counter has changed since I got mine. I prefer the 48 needles for a bigger hat but either works for scarfs and other projects. Have a good time and check everything about them on TH-cam ❤
Hi Nancy, I love this video and I learned a lot, it was very informative, there are a lot of advantages and disadvantages from using both machines. I think I like the Sentro because it has the 3 different tensions, it cranks easily even though I have heard of problems with the row counter parts and also about the tension gadget breaking off...money wise it's cheaper and it would be perfect for me a beginner...now regarding the yarn weight, I heard it does not do very well with bulky yarn. But like I said I have to experience it myself to confirm or deny any testimony..lol thanks this makes everything so easy...I am more of a crocheter, but I find this machine to be very interesting and can't wait to purchase and experiment with it.
Hi Sabrina thank you so much for your kind comment. I tried to break all the advantages and disadvantages down. I started with the Sentro and then got the Addi as a surprise gift. I love them both and I am sure you will make wonderful projects with it. Just have fun and i would love to see all the goodies you make with it. Let me know if you need any help! -Nancy ❤
Hi!!! How do you finish off your winter waffle beanie?? You did not show how to finish it, you jumped to the pompon. I am stuck and need to know how to simply finish it. Thank you
Hi Haley! I will be making a video on how to do it in the future with better detail. It's kind of tricky but not that bad. Thanks for watching. Take care of yourself. - Nancy ❤️
The difference in size is probably less about the 2 extra stitches and more about the differences in tension between the machines. They won’t be the same.
An adapter can be purchased for both the Addi and the Sentro machine. Be sure to use a low power drill when using the adapter. I demonstrated using one with the Sentro machine on one of my live events.
Thanks for this informative video. You did however miss the most important reason to choose one machine over another. The Addi machine is 3-4 times more expensive than the Sentro! Huge difference - this is in Canada so may be different in other countries.
Thanks for your comment. Yes price can be an important factor and I showed the price at the very beginning of the video. I like to interact with my viewers please join my Facebook group - Giftshqusa
You are so welcome! It makes me happy that I was able to help. Please reach out if you have any questions and join our Facebook group (Giftshqusa) so we can share more tips!
I’ve had both. Save your money and invest in the Addi. The Sentro will make do for a little while but it’s plastic and cheaply made. Long term use will grind and wear down the plastic.
First time and finding it frustrating, loose stitches especially the first and last. How many rows do you do before adding the weights? Order the addi express machine thinking the less needles will be better to practice on. Just trying the flat panel .
The panel can be a little tricky at first. I would recommend you start with the tube first. When you cast on, go slow and make sure you weave through correctly. After the cast on row, make sure to go slow on the row to ensure your needles are picking up the yarn correctly. Let me know if that helps..
Nice job😍😍...please a question here...how many pins it can make a new born baby hat?...46 pins or less??.because i can see with 48 pins is like for adults hat...so pls can u tell me how many pin i should use for a new born baby size....?.thank you🙏
@@joanntyler5950 the stoppers for the Addi are to make panels any width you want. I believe uoi count your columns you want and place the stoppers 2-3 columns on each side of the panel for the turn-around. See Addi site instructions.
I think clamps Vs suckers depends on your table top. I have found that clamps don't work well with tables with an edge whereas suckers will only stick to a shiny surface.
Tape or velcro might have detrimental effect in table for other uses. Re suckers being difficult to fit. I learned long ago fitting tight things that a little spit lubricates just enough and dries so it doesn't slip off again unlike other lubricants. Sounds gross but it works.
One thing you didn't touch on was price. Since your Addi was a gift, you may not be aware, but it sells for $230 while the Sentro is only $70. For an additional $10-20, you can buy a set of clamps to solve the stability issue, and you're still coming out ahead with regards to price. Since they both seem to produce the same quality of projects, I see no benefit to the Addi over the Sentro as any shortcomings the Sentro may have can be solved for less than the cost of the Addi. Also, while spare parts don't come with the Sentro, extra pins can be purchased online for as little as $4 each. At that price, you'd have to break just about ever pin on the Sentro before the Addi comes out ahead.
Thanks for your feedback Stephanie. The price was on the beginning of the video. Sentro is definitely budget friendly and can be a decision breaker. It really just depends on what is important to the person. Either way I love both machines and projects are fun to make! -Nancy ❤
Hi Nancy I do have the Sentro I just got it. I have a lots of trouble,it doesn’t like many 4 weight yarns, so far it just let me do very slow the red heart soft. It doesn’t like the Bernal pop, red heart bouquet, Bernard Cozy and super saver. I spending more time undoing them making anything, in 2 weeks I just got 2 beanies and a scarf and I just spoil a lots of yarn. I do knitting and crochet by hand more then 30 years. I just got the machine because I have accumulated so much yarn and I thought I could make some beanies and blankets for donation. I just want your advice, should I sending the Sentro back and by the Addi ? With you like the best? I know is hard to give your opinion, but I don’t blame you if doesn’t work. Please let me know
@@GiftsHQ Hi , I recently found an addi kingsize at a carboot sale in UK only paid £1.00 for it and had never seen one before but now I'm hooked and love it. I'm watching all the videos on TH-cam learning so much about it.

The Addi does not have a yarn tensioner. That is a yarn feeder and there are two ways to load it for thinner and thicker yarns. The tension is controlled by hand. The two systems are quite different as the Sentro has the yarn tensioner allowing you to crank without holding the yarn. But I wouldn’t recommend it.
Yes, you will need the legs in order to lift it off the table. You will also need the needles in order to cast off.The crochet hook can be used to close up the tube
Hi Barbara! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I have seen others use knitting machines to make sweaters, but personally, I haven't tried it myself. Honestly, from what I've seen, the results can be a bit hit or miss. While it's possible to make sweaters with these machines, they may not match the quality of store-bought ones. However, these machines really shine when it comes to crafting knitted hats, scarves, and stuffed toys. I have several videos on those topics, so feel free to check them out when you have time. Thanks again for your comment, and I wish you Happy Holidays! - Nancy ❤️
Hi. There's a funny story to this question. I was looking for a circular knitting machine. Of course, I came across the Addi and the Sentro machines. I did my research. The Addi was out of stock in the USA at the time. And as you know, the Addi is much more expensive than the Sentro. So I Initially brought the Sentro. My husband was in the background seeing all of this. And at one of my Saturday Livestreams, right before we were going to start. I received this large box. Matter of fact it's in one of them, I don't remember which one. And in it, my husband, tells me that I could not open it and to share it as an unboxing. This was in this video ... th-cam.com/video/DxYibzccgCg/w-d-xo.html . Long story short, my husband bought it for me as a gift (knowing that I could not find it here in the USA at the time and that I probably wouldn't have bought it due to the price). He ended up buying it on eBay from a reputable seller from Australia. So that's the story behind that. Thanks for your comment and for watching my videos. - Nancy ❤
Yes they are the same size. I posted a picture showing both of them on our Facebook group - giftshqusa so you can see them. I hope this helps. - Happy Holidays! - Nancy ❤
I have both and imho there is no comparison. The addi will take yarn that the sentro wont, it runs more smoothly and the row counter works better. That being said, i tend to use the sentro more frequently because those 2 extra pins actually make a difference. I make a lot of hats and the sentro make bigger, more comfortable ones.
@@GiftsHQ Very cool, & thank you for your quick response! I thought your video was very helpful. I crochet all the time but have never been able to pick up the ability to knit; I’d love to make funky socks. Lol. My fav yarn weight is #2 but I’ll have to stick to crocheting shawls for using that!
No, these machines only make stockinette. You can ladder evefyother row after youve finished and then rework those columns with a crochet hook but id rather just put the piece onto knitting needles to work the ribbing.
Hi Caro! Thank you for watching my video. Yes, you can make a scarf using the "plain" mode (panel) on the Addi knitting machine. However, I've only tried it once and don't use this method because it tends to make the scarf roll up, just like what happened to you. To solve this issue, you can crochet a border all around the scarf to stiffen the edges and help keep it flat. If you've seen my other videos on making scarves, you'll notice that I use the tubular mode on the knitting machine. I crank all the rows needed to make the scarf the length I want and then stitch the ends closed. This way creates a scarf that is double layered, and is thicker and warmer. I also find it quicker and easier than cranking and stopping to switch sides while making a panel. Cranking continuously until you reach the right number of rows works best for me. (Pro Tip: Using a low powered electric screwdriver and attachment gets it done super fast.) Yes, it uses more yarn, but yarn isn't too expensive, and you end up with a better scarf in my humble opinion. I hope this helps. I appreciate you. - Nancy ❤️

Hi Jeni! You are correct. They basically do the same job and the Addi is more expensive. But truth be told, the Addi feels much better built than the Sentro. I guess if you are going to be cranking out lots of projects then, I guess the Addi is the way to go. If this is just a hobby and you want to make a beanie here and there to give as gifts, then the Sentro will do just fine. They both have their positives and negatives as mentioned in my video. Thanks for watching. I truly appreciate it. - Nancy ❤️
Thanks for sharing! That is correct and you can reinforce it with tape or velcro. You can get a great price on a Sentro via Temu. Check out my video where I compare the price and quality. -Nancy ❤
Hi Eleni, thanks for watching my video! That's not an easy question as to which machine is best. They both have their positive and negative parts. As for how they are built - well then the Addi feels and looks much better made than the Sentro. As for price - the Sentro has a better price at about 1/3 or 1/4 the price (depending on the deal you get) than the Addi. As for handling different types of yarn - the Addi seems to not have as much issues than the Sentro when it comes to that. They are both good machines. The way I would put is that if you are making items in volume and need a sturdy dependable machine then I would pay extra for the Addi. If this is just a hobby, you want to try something different, and will only make a couple items or gifts to giveaway, then save your money and get a Sentro. The most important thing is that as soon as you get any of these machines is that you test them right away. If they do not crank smooth or properly, or you do not like it. Then return it right away. I have experienced this and hear of others having the same issue. Just want you to know. So what's the best? I guess it depends what works best for you. Happy Holidays! - Nancy ❤️

What a neat idea! Thanks for sharing.
That's an awesome idea. Thanks so much for sharing! -Nancy ❤
Funny that's what I been doing. Ha! And sometimes I use it on my glass top wood table in living room.
Was thinking of getting an Addi after my Sentro but after this review there is not much diff between the 2 machines. I’ll stick on to my Sentro . Really appreciate your review. ❤
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. You can also purchase the Sentro on Temu for a low price. I purchased one, and it works great!
Does the Addie have a smaller needle size than the Sentro?
Do you know what size knitting needle is required to pick up off each machine?
I have not had any issues and live in Miami which has a lot of humidity but will keep you posted! Thanks for your support! -Nancy ❤
@@GiftsHQ you may have a different counter. Addi has had 2 different counters, one electronic and one not.
-Nancy ❤
Sharon.. are the counters automatic?
Cam u use 4ply yarn for hats?

Thanks for your comment. This was very helpful
I bought a Sentro. Sent it back after 1 week due to gears grinding and handle binding up.
Sounds like it was probably used and returned. I hope you have better luck on the next one.
Thanks for the presentation review. It has helped me to decide which to buy as a first time crafter.
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy your new machine!
Price matters most to me considering my income. For that reason the sentro sounds like it is great!

I use a small glass table top works great for the suction cup.
Sorry -beenies
The handle on the Addi machine requires you to fully grasp it while the Sentro has an "L" shape that helps me grasp it better. There are other options using a low power drill as well. Hope this helps!
While shopping I found another plus to the Addi machine. They offer a power adapter, to replace the crank.. Just FYI : The Addi is more expensive, but may be worth it if you’re sure you’ll use it often because of the power crank, which you buy separately.
Yes, the adaptor looks great, but I have not tried it yet. I can only imagine how fast it goes and projects done in no time!
"Quotient" was meant to be "would"!!
@@vivienlee610 Thanks for your reply 😇
Thank you for this comparison video. I think I now know which I will purchase. 💖

Thanks for your video. I found a Sentro with clamps and more affordable
That's great and I'm sure you will do great things! Have fun!!
Thank you for your video. I have both machines. I really like the ADDI construction but people complain about the hats being tighter from the ADDI. So I use the sentro 46 for hats.
I noticed that too and loosened the tension slightly, which helped a little. Still love them both!🤩
Hi, I just recently bought the Sentro and so far so good. I've had my Addi for a year and love it. I decided to get a Sentro because the hats come out a little bigger and when I gifted hats made on the Addi, some people said they were kind of tight, but they stretch out over time. For the price I couldn't resist getting the Sentro. Thanks for this comparison. Happy New Year!🥳
Great to hear! I really like them both and agree the hats are wider with the Sentro. I would love to see what you make! -Nancy ❤
Do you think that adjusting tension on your addi would help with the fit of hat? Just curious. Got it for Christmas and I’m now getting ready to use it.
I use my addi clamps on my sentro 40 & 48 & that’s a plus as well!
Yes, it is! It really helps to keep it stable. You can make so many projects!
Silky yarns work good In the Sentro like the Caron simply soft
My Sentro is so picky it won't even work with Simply Soft! I have had luck with Big Twist solids, thinner worsted weight. I finally had enough today and ordered an Addi!! The dropped stitches and catching gears did me in. I've only made a few hats in the 2 months I've had it.
That's what I have noticed as well with my Sentro. I am having problems with using certain weight 4s. Which is beyond irritating and I wish mine would break so I would have an excuse to buy a Addi 🙃
Just bought the 48 one can't wait to use it
Congratulations! I am sure you are going to love it! Let usknow what your first project is! -Nancy ❤
I love my Addi machine too. So many projects to make! -Nancy ❤
Hi, do you know if the addi stoppers works on the sentro machine???
@dragicaabeleida1381 I don't ever use stoppers, nor do I use the panel switch. I just watch when the yarn goes down on the knob past the last needle, to start cranking the opposite way.
Thank you for this Great video! Do the Addi make Adult sized beanies?
Yes, Addi 46 pin will make the adult sizes. Have lots of fun! You are going to love it!
I just openned the Addi from Amz and I think it might be a knock-off...? Is there a way to tell?
Amazing! Thanks which would you say is your favorite?
It's so hard to say. I think it depends on what I am making and the tension I need. With the Addi, I can control it with my hand and love that, but sometimes I prefer to use the Sentro so I can put the yard on the guide slot. I do love the way the Addi is built, and it seems like it will last longer, but rime will tell.
Ive heard the suction cups of the sentro stick better to clear packing tape, just be sure the table/surface you're sticking the tape to isn't going to be damaged by the tape first.
Great idea. You can also try velcro if you don't mind sticking it to the surface. -Nancy ❤
i use the cdwood round looms, and was looking for a knitting machine because i am making large hats for the needy, so i do appreciate you reviewing both of these. it's hard to make a choice. if you have ever used a large round loom with 41 pegs, can you tell me if the hat sizes are comparable? if not, no worries. thank you again for this review. take care
I have not used a loom in the past, but Sentro has 48 pins, and the Addi has 46 pins. Tension will be a factor when reviewing the width. Hope this helped.
I bought the Sentro, it worked about 6 months.
Sorry to hear that. Is it the needles that need to be replaced? The Addi machine parts are made with better materials and should last a long time
I am shopping one of these and I still looking for an answer.
-Nancy❤

@Tracey Fairbairn Tracey there are no dumb "newby" questions. We are all "newby" when we start something new.
I enjoy it too. Love all the projects you can make with it. Have you tried running the yarn through a dryer sheet? It helps with dropped stitches.
Have you tried using glue dots to put on the bottom of the legs to stick it to the table
I have not tried glue dots, but I did use painter tape, and that worked well.
Have fun! -Nancy ❤️

I'm thinking if you wet the suction cup they would stick better😊

I bought my Addi 22 needle two weeks ago. No accessories in box. I read reviews from others and they never received any accessories in their box. I have noticed some sewing machines come with accessories, but, not on Amazon and both sites charge the exact same price.

Are those clamps for the Addi legs fit on the Sentro legs.?
It does, but you have to fit it in between the legs and suction
Whi h size 48 or 40 for starters on making lovely beanies ans what other items that will sell well right away for most income in short period of time?
For the beanies, I would use the 48-pin machine. You can also make the headbands with the 40-pin machine. Another great seller is the bears that you can make. They seem to do well at craft fairs.
Does chunky yarn work on the Addi machine? Like velvet, or cotton yarns?
I would not recommend chunky yarn on the machine. The recommended weight is a 4-medium weight yarn.
The 48 pin comes with the counter, and I have made beanies for small children with it.
I find claps that fit on the leg of the sentro. It can but clapped to a table.
Great idea. Can you post a picture of the clamps so I can see them? Y o u can put them on our Facebook group GiftshqUSA
I use #4 (medium weight) yarn on the Sentro and have not had any issues. You are going to love it! -Nancy ❤
Have fun.
I have both machines and I love my sentro. No drop stitches. I use the addi king clamps on the sentro and it works great.
Not a fan of the addi King.
Also the addi is always needed to be cleaned at least once every week.
Awesome! I'm glad you've found a solution that works for you! Now it's time to show us your projects!
-Nancy ❤
I have both. One leg on my Sentro cracked off. I cannot get a replacement. Sad.
There are replacement pieces you can buy. Go to the giftshq shop and you will find the links to it.
You don‘t mention the most important difference. Sentro is Made in China, Addi Made in Germany, with fair wages, proofed material, in a democraty.

The difference in size is probably less about the 2 extra stitches and more about the differences in tension between the machines. They won’t be the same.
I don’t have one but I think with addi I’ve seen people use a drill on the handle, I think that is why the design
An adapter can be purchased for both the Addi and the Sentro machine. Be sure to use a low power drill when using the adapter. I demonstrated using one with the Sentro machine on one of my live events.
Have you tried using 100% cotton yarn on either machine? If so which machine works best with 100% cotton?
Yes, watch my prior live on soap savers sacks. The project uses cotton yarn, and I discuss it in detail.
Cotton yarn doesn’t work well with either machine ❤️
Thanks for this informative video. You did however miss the most important reason to choose one machine over another. The Addi machine is 3-4 times more expensive than the Sentro! Huge difference - this is in Canada so may be different in other countries.

I’ve had both. Save your money and invest in the Addi. The Sentro will make do for a little while but it’s plastic and cheaply made. Long term use will grind and wear down the plastic.
Yes the Addi is a well made machine that will last long. Both make beautiful projects! -Nancy ❤
Does the counter turn as you crank the handle
Yes, after the white needle comes around on a full rotation, the counter will change.

I would love to have a Addi but ,The price if you want to spend 250.00 or more if it’s not on sale ,what would you buy a 40.00 Dollar Sentro or Addi
Sentro is a great machine and I got the Addi as a gift. Both make great projects! -Nancy ❤
I think clamps Vs suckers depends on your table top. I have found that clamps don't work well with tables with an edge whereas suckers will only stick to a shiny surface.
Good point. It really depends on what table top you decide to use. You can also use tape to secure it down or velcro. -Nancy❤

Hi , I recently found an addi kingsize at a carboot sale in UK only paid £1.00 for it and had never seen one before but now I'm hooked and love it.
I'm watching all the videos on TH-cam learning so much about it.
@@youngslinko8661 Wow lucky you! nice.

Great point! Thanks for the information. -Nancy ❤
it has one option for yarn tension or you could take it out to do tension by hand.
Have you got to use the feet/legs and you can use a crochet hook instead of needles
Yes, you will need the legs in order to lift it off the table. You will also need the needles in order to cast off.The crochet hook can be used to close up the tube
Thank you so much !
You’re very welcome! I hope you enjoyed the video!
Can they be used to make sweaters?
- Nancy ❤️
Hi could these machine only make round items?
Hi Cecily No you can make flat panels too. I have seen a few sweaters that were made too!
Where did you buy your Addi machine?
- Nancy ❤

Where do I order the Sentro machine? I have no idea where to get one
I included a link under the description for you.
So if you can't have both, which would you keep?
Addi is more expensive but if you will be cranking out a lot of projects then it is well worth it. -Nancy ❤
Are the pins the same size? I find I have trouble using Red Heart Stripes on the Sentro. Waiting for my Addi.
Yes they are the same size. I posted a picture showing both of them on our Facebook group - giftshqusa so you can see them. I hope this helps. - Happy Holidays! - Nancy ❤
Hi, my Addi does not work with Red Heart Yarn. Actually, my Addi does not Like any 4 medium weight yarn. Too many tucked stitches.
My sentro doesn’t like red heart either
I need more info on panels. As this seems to be a problem.
Ok I can try to create a video for panels. I will do my best to give you closeups so you can see all the derails. Stay tuned!-Nancy❤
Great tips and tension can also make a difference. I love having both machines. Thanks for your support! -Nancy ❤️
They need to increase the PIN number to be more adaptable!
Do either of the knitting machines use #3 weight yarn or are they only for #4 yarn?
You can use #3 on both.Would love to see what you make! -Nancy ❤
I like the Addi better. I have both sizes in the Addi. The small Addi is really small, only for socks. Infant hats maybe.
I have the small Addi also, and it helps to make bows, pumpkins, and more.
Can you do rib knit on knitting machines? Im interested in making socks.
Yes you can. You will need a crochet hook and the smaller addi or sentro machine for socks. -Nancy ❤
No, these machines only make stockinette. You can ladder evefyother row after youve finished and then rework those columns with a crochet hook but id rather just put the piece onto knitting needles to work the ribbing.
Hi, how can I make a scarf with the addi on the mode "plain" ? Because my scarf is rolling on the sides.
- Nancy ❤️

While they seem to do the same job, the Addi is $200 more expensive than the Sentro.
- Nancy ❤️
the sentro suction cups should be used on hard surfaces that are not not stick or textured like cutting mats...
Thanks for sharing! That is correct and you can reinforce it with tape or velcro. You can get a great price on a Sentro via Temu. Check out my video where I compare the price and quality. -Nancy ❤
Addi or sentro magine is the best?????
- Nancy ❤️
