During this interview, Montgomery Gentry's Eddie Montgomery talks about what inspired songs from his new album, Ain't No Closing Me Down (available at Walmart only). There's a love song for his "smoking hot wife" and the title-track, inspired by something that happened at home during the pandemic.
The singer says his late bandmate Troy Gentry still shows up to prank him on stage, a sign of approval for how Montgomery has kept a promise made years ago.
There's also one song on the album that found Montgomery drawing on the deaths of two sons. He talked to Taste of Country Nights host Evan Paul and Amber.

I miss T Roy.......they've been my favorite ever since they got together.....seen them about 7 times...twice on the front row shooting each other 3 fingers for Dale Earnhardt...Eddie''s a big fan....one of his coats has the number 3 on the sleeves. They always put on a high energy show!!! When people see them for the first time, they're surprised at how high energy they really are

I'm from KY and my favorite MG song is "My Hometown" bc it shows such pride and love from where they grew up. I remember Troy Lee singing at Renfro Valley shortly before he got w Eddie. I'm Proud to call these two men Fellow Kentuckians ❤️🥰
What a genuine person. I love him: I loved him with Troy in Montgomery Gentry. He's suffered such loss but that's what character & great songs come from.
You are so right Terri! I've met and even partied with Eddie, Troy and the band, Great guys all, but Eddie, to have gone through as much as he has and still keeping it real, THAT is something! I think most people would be very bitter, Not Eddie! Last time my wife and I had a chance to hang with him, I asked him to autograph a photo I had taken of him and Troy on stage in 2003. Man he saw that and started to tear up. But he was so happy to sign it! He even recognized the photo as I had given him a copy a few years back. But yeah he really is one hell of a nice, stand up guy!
