    Long time watcher, first time commenting though. I think I have seen all your videos at least 6 times. You explain everything so well! Thank you for taking the time to do these videos. I look forward to them every week and when you throw in an extra video... just color me happy! You are so creative and I really appreciate you doing these!

      Your videos are wonderful for beginners. I have gifted two sets of these placemats and have learned much about piecing and enjoyed the ditch in the ditch quilting. The Bali 20 strips packs are beautiful. I have a long ways to go but you will teach me a lot. Glad I found you! Thank you.

    I used a similar pattern to this on the border of the Lotus Blossom quilt that i finished last month. Hello Donna. I just came across this tutorial. Is it correct to assume that these are quite a large placemat? (Approx. 19” X 20”?) I have a smallish oval table so I am considering using only 16 strips and cutting them in 4” pieces.

    We don't actually use table runners and placemats in our house. However, I've been studying these tutorials with interest because I have started making baby quilts for Project Linus UK and almost *any* of these patterns could easily be turned into a baby quilt. This set of placemats, for instance, could be done quite easily perhaps with some narrow sashing in between or just pushed together as one quilt top. The flip method is nice and easy to use with baby quilts, as I don't use any binding on mine, just a quilt top with either some batting and a soft flannel backing or with a fleece backing and no batting. Also, I only want minimal stitch in the ditch quilting, so this method works really well for that. Thanks for all the helpful tutorials on these items!

    Newbie here and I'm not really in to placemats so I was wondering - couldn't you use this "non-bindning binding method" on a full quilt too? You'd have to leave a rather larger opening and it would be kinda clunky to turn, but as long as you ironed it all flat and pinned it down, the sewing along the edge bit should be no big deal, right? Anyway, love the pattern and the fabrics, and excellent tutorial as always!

    • @jordanfabrics8380
      @jordanfabrics8380  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use the method for a quilt, but it gets more difficult to keep flat as the quilt gets larger.

    Think I would call it "zig-zag" and do it in fall or Christmas fabrics. Very pretty and something different. Agree with comment about it being a great quick gift idea. Not everyone likes the same quilt blocks, but if you know the predominant colors in their kitchen or dining room, you can pick a good compliment pack (or scraps) and it should go with any wall quilts they may have AND be pleasing to them as it is not actually a "quilt block." Thanks, Donna!

    Good morning from the middle of New Hampshire! Although I don't use placemats, these might makd me change my mind, lol. Very beautiful, and a really pleasing pattern. One question, tbough: placemats get washed, and you don't prewash your fabrics. What is your solution for washing a finished piece and making sure it doesn't bleed?
    I've watched your videos many times, and saved them all (and agree with you on Cozies!). There are other good instuctors out there in Videoland, but (please excuse the leftover California hippie expression) you have the most contented and joyfullest aura; any project seems easy and achievable. Of all the zillions of quilt possibilities, thanks for all of yours, and I look forward to more!
