Sono stato 3 giorni fa a Collesano sono andato a museo del Traga Florio una esperienza che non mi dimenticare mai! Peccato non avevo tempo per l'atra museo che c'era le Macchine che hanno corso sulla Traga Florio emozioni puro! 😍❤️
When technology and skill were complementary. The absolute proof that if it looks fast it is fast. Drivers, cars, scenery, fans standing on the road verge, hay bales.... All that made racing beautiful and almost all gone.
Unforgetable drivers, cars, places like Targa Florio... I wonder if why today motor racing doesn´t seems to me better that one that this video shows (well, i know the answer, but i prefer to keep it for me...). My sincere congratulations for this video!!
magnificent days . it was a time of positivity and 'anything goes' . See all those people standing on the edge of the road, experiencing the excitement up close. I could not imagine this happening today , the fun police would be wringing their hands in fear. Peopel choosing what to do with their lives. They wouldn't allow it these days far too dangerous, Its our loss, all we have is old footage of our for fathers, brave people that wanted to live and experience life
What a nice line up of cars, they still have the Speedy the love Bug tight chassis and Hot Wheels wheels. That is like every Famous Model Car of the 80's, I built planes but you looked at them all, and these are the car Kits that were always in stock.
Sensational footage thank you, the upscaling is incredible! Would love to see more onboards from the Targa Florio, is there any race footage available?
@@964cuploveThe 908/3's had a really poor year in 1971, neither of the JW cars finished the first lap and although Quick Vic had tte fastest lap by 30 or so seconds he and Larrousse only completed 7 laps too.
So we can still have the Isle of Man TT where somebody dies every other race but we can't have the Targa Florio? with GT3 or GT4 regulations this event would be completely safe
Even if you had a master plan to pull this off safely (which, to be fair, might not be impossible, given the WRC still exists), it'd be a hard sell in today's safety-obsessed world. Even the TT only really survives due to its relative obscurity amongst the general public.
No, if you want to do that, the track needs major reparation in some places. From what I know it's not raceable under any circumstances in the conditions some parts and corners are currently in.
It's not a wall, it's a balcony from one of the houses closer to the camera. It's just a matter of perspective. Rewatch that part at reduced speed and pause/play until at 2:09 (when the overlay clock with what I guess is the race time is at *00∶21∶44∶23* ). Or use your '.' and ',' keys when paused to advance and rewind frame by frame. 🏎💨💨💨
Those were the good old days. Everything was pure back then. People were genuine and sincere too. They were the kind of people you want to drink espresso with. The only problem is I was only two years old in 1971. Lol. They should reinstate Targa Florio. It's the ultimate proving ground for courage, bravery, and honor. Thank you for this video. God Bless you.
Man I wish GT7 had the entire 72km track and these cars in the game, that would be amazing!! Ok no one would want to race on a track that long in a videogame but it would be a neat track just to have to drive around on.
2:19 ... the flying wireframe No.8 might be piloted by Gerard Larousse when a blue helmet shows up between the fences .. and to me even the Alfa 'arrabiata' looks a bit more conservative . than this uncompromised fueltank on wheels 😱
9 people including spectators were killed over the history of the Targa Florio. Two deaths in 1973, one a Lancia driver who hit a truck and the other was a spectator. I'm pretty sure there were some in 1976 or 77 that was why the event was stopped. It had a much better safety record than the Mille Miglia and Panamericana though.
The noise must've been deafening in those small streets... A real test of human in unison with the machine. Sadly nothing like it exists anymore... perhaps rallying comes closest
@@texleeger8973 the fatal accident that killed it was in 1977. CSI (as it was then called) had to increase safety demands that led to them to stop sanctioning it.

The greatest and most beautiful sports car race ever. What a spectacle!
No! Group C and Group 7 beats them, but that doesn't say much if anything! These car were glorious!
Magnifique.
Beautiful cars racing through beautiful scenery. Real racing.
Emozionante. Dovevo nascere 30 anni prima
The speaker is Nino Vaccarella himself. He is called "preside volante" (flying principal) beacuse he has a private school in Palermo.

Le Mans cars on a twisty public road, spectators on the sidewalks and in doorways... It sure was a different time

All that made racing beautiful and almost all gone.
thanks for sharing this beautiful footage
Fantastic, what a great era this was!
You sir are doing the world a great service with this footage
What a treasure this footage is!
Without usual music, only engines sound
What a treat to find this on TH-cam! The footage looks restored ..so clear... many thanks!

Very nice movie. The Alfa 33-3 and Carlo Chitti at their best! Many thanks.
Bellissima gara la targa florio, forse ai tempi la più bella,Grazie Nino Vaccarella ed Alfaromeo

Come off it. That was stupidly dangerous for the spectators. For the drivers, I agree it was their choice, and they were brave.
What a nice line up of cars, they still have the Speedy the love Bug tight chassis and Hot Wheels wheels.

Subed, we are so lucky to have these car's and this track in simulators, it took year's to make and is amazing to drive around for hours
That kind of speed on period rubber makes me tighten up a little. 😂😳
Amazing footage! My favourite era of cars….both racing cars and road cars. This footage makes me wish we could time travel back! 🙂
great video and good times
lolol the sleeping guy at 3:49 terrific
I wished I was there, what a great race
Indimenticabile! Avevo diciannove anni!
Stunning video , proper cars and drivers just got on and did it,
Fantastic. Imagine being able to get that close to these amazing race cars. Amazing. 😊🇬🇧👏
Che gare , che piloti , che circuiti , ! E che spettatori (sprovveduti ed incoscienti!)
I love seeing the spectators. I wonder if they ever imagined that 50 years from then we would be watching them from anywhere in the world. I love it.
fantastic footage, thank you so much

When Alfa Romeo was better than Porsche...
Looks like the Porsche is catching the Alfa around 2:00 - no ?

Beautiful Film!
Only in Europe would you have these amazing events. Also the Mille Miglia!
Cough targa tasmania cough
Carrera Panamericana: hold my tequila...
Just brilliant! Bring it back!
Fantastico filmato, mi sono iscritto al canale, ciao Fabrizio - like 3700

😎LOVE THAT PURE SOUND
👍🏻 without the usual background music

You’re obviously using a different definition of “safe”.
Total bullsheit.
Isle of man is usually the participants who get killed not spectators

Proper Italian priorities: give the car some champagne before the driver!
Fabulous stuff. Really enjoyed that.
Wonderful. That looked so much better in the video than in the thumbnail
ok i changed the thumbnail...
@@formula60b56 Oh - what I meant was that the video was really well improved. No worries, thanks for making this available.
The Best!!
I makes me imagine GT4 cars racing on a big road circuit.
La sicurezza ci uccide tutti! Che tempi belli in cui si poteva toccare le macchine.
Awesome video! I was just wondering what it would look like outside of the simulators.
L’ho vista a Imola la 33 bella, che nostalgia quando le Alfa Romeo vincevano le corse, e io con il cuore 💔 spezzato tra Alfa e Ferrari ❤️💔❤️

Back when the Isle of Mann wasn't the most ridiculous (in a good way) race on the planet.

Wish I was born earlier to see all these cars driving in anger.

The town scenes were like a Western Movie set somehow. With the gunfighters trading their horses for these race cars.

Why those point to point races stopped to be done?
Driver deaths, spectator deaths, crashes galore. Last FIA sanctioned race in 1973.

Oh, for a time machine...
Ah, the days when spectators actually watched things, rather than recorded them on their phones…
👏🏻
Sarebbe da sogno se tornasse.. ma vabbè
Ferrari 312 pb was the best few years after no more Work Team endurance Great Driver's too
Obviously before the existence of the FIA, otherwise they would have screwed this up as well.
La vera ALFA ROMEO
