Hey I know I'm late, but I love this review honestly. Most people that I see have ridiculous jazz chops and I have no idea what they are playing, but with you, you're basically playing what I would play and it sounds better to me then a lot of those other reviews. When my car is paid off, which is a few months, I will order this.
Wow! She looks like a stunning keyboard! It sounds amazing too. You are very natural when speaking in front of the camera and love your confidence when speaking too. If I were you, I think I would need to write a script first before making such a video. Hahaha.
Thanks Leeron! Appreciate your kind words. I did have to take plenty of takes for this, maybe one day I’ll have enough bloopers to make a video in itself (it’s just a lot of swearing though, to be honest 😂)
Thankyou for this demo. I have recently got a Juno DS76. I guess me only regret is that I didn't get the DS88. Only for the keys/play action. The keys on the DS76 just don't cut it for me. Too light. Nice demo on the piano sounds. Thank you for sharing.
As I’ve commented in a couple of other places on TH-cam, the Juno DS88 did appealed to me when it first came on the market in the late 2010s. There were two instruments in my possession that stood between me and getting one of these, however. They were the Yamaha S90XS which is my 88-key synthesizer purchased in 2011 and another Roland model, the VR-09 which has been my primary portable keyboard/synthesizer since 2014. If I didn’t have one of those models, in particular the S90XS, I probably would already own and play a DS88 as of September 2014.
do you know how to make the pedal on the junods sustain notes? it doesnt sustain them when i plug it in, it just cuts them off or does the opposite of a sustain pedal
Hey, thanks for dropping by! So, the price point was perfect for my budget and when I tried the keys action out, it felt comfortable- this is quite a big deal for me as I’m used to playing on upright pianos and I wouldn’t want to sacrifice too much of that feature. It’s also fairly light which is good for gigging and busking! If you’re interested in purchasing something similar, I’d suggest having a look at other models within this price range- the Korg Kross II was another I tried out, though I didn’t really like the keys action there.
Hi Ivy, I think you can play external wav files on this keyboard but I'm not sure about sequencing- that's getting into the real meat of the keyboard's features which I haven't really explored yet! Merry Christmas!
Thinking of buying this. I too have only been playing on acoustic pianos. I wonder what speakers you have for this piano? Also how does it feel compared to a piano?
Thanks for sharing this. Sounds will be improved if you care to use an audio interface so you get to capture all the sounds-both vocal and from the instrument.
Nords costs 3-4 times the price of this but has no usb audio ! This Juno and FA 06 07 08 all support usb audio so u can play vst patches from the computer via the main outs in the keyboard. No need for audio interface cos it’s got one built in. Is there any insight as to why overpriced Nords don’t have the feature ?
Are there more types of pianos you can play? Besides the ones you demonstrated from the last part of the video? Also, would you recommend a specific headphone set for playing on this piano? Can you record a sound and then play that sound on a key, ‘customized keyboard’?
Oh yea for sure, there are so many piano settings! Like hundreds, too many I would say 😂 I think any mid-range headset off the market would be good. I don't really understand your final question though, happy to help if you explained a bit more! Merry Christmas!
Hey man, i have the ds88 to and i like al the sounds, and you have a great video. I have only 1 problem. The headphones do work, but if im connecting my new speakers it doesn't work.. do you know how to solve it?
Hey Chris, nice of you to drop by! I think maybe the headphones and the speakers go in different ports? I haven't tried using the headphones yet, but my amp is connected to the L/Mono output.
@@ourandy thx for the reaction. I found out that there is an extra switch on the speakers. I have to set it to 4+dB then it works. I only cannot figure out why the piano sounds are crap on headphones and speakers!
Did you get any kind of additional warranties? Has there been any defects? I had mine for 16 days then one of the keys started squeaking which is annoying when I play piano. Also, I think it’s funny how you consider this as “light” , it’s heavy for me and I’m worried about dropping it. Anyways, good video.
Congrats on the new keyboard! Getting new gear is so exciting, and this was a fun video to share some of that excitement with all of us :)
Thanks so much Jason! Yup, agreed, love getting new gear. Hopefully this quick review will be helpful to viewers!

That was so exciting and fun to watch!!! 🤩 I'm soo happy for you my friend, congratulations!!! ✨💗

Amazing new piano!! It was a great purchase and looks awesome 😎 😀
Haha yup. I love the keyboard, well worth the money!
bruh. i can almost smell the new smell just watching this. also thanks for the preliminary review!
Hahaha thanks! Pretty happy to do this video. It did smell good as well to be fair 😅
Nice unboxing video!! More unboxing pls
Haha. Let’s see if I’m able to purchase anything else after this 😂

Hey Jo, that's strange. I don't seem to have that issue on mine- how did you set yours up? Merry Christmas by the way!
@@ourandy i fixed it:) its in menu>settings>pedal settings
Does it have a built in USB/Audio interface like the Yamaha MODX?
It does indeed! There are many reviews on the web which go more in-depth into this 😁
What's name of this song?? 6:20
Great video 👍
Thanks so much Nadia 🙏
What patch is the intro to Babe by Styx I am looking for that sound. Is it built into this JUNO DS88? please help
I noticed that you didnt have the retaining straps on. is there a spot that you can attach these to on the Roland? Thanks!
what is the ext input
and what it does
im just curious
What made you decide on this keyboard? So hard picking the right one!

Can you please tell if the Roland go keys 61k has a good Rhodes piano sound like the juno DS 88?
Hi Brij, I have not tried the 61 key version so I can't really comment on this. If the make is Roland though, chances are it will be a good product!
@@ourandy alright, thank you
Can it be sequenced by an external gear , such as a mpc,, can it be but in slave mode ? Like the fantom

Old school synth. Nice. Hope to hear some remixes from you soon.😁
Once I figure out how to use it, for sure 😂😂
Looks like you should have a lot of good times with that!
That is the plan for sure April :)
Does this come with split function
Yes absolutely Antonio! I love changing the lower section to a bass guitar and then start playing basslines 😂
Yea I'm buying this
@@antoniobrunoclements184 A great investment ;)
is it good for making music. Since it has 1 pendal, I was quite confused when buying it. 1 pendal has any problems or should I buy a 3 pendal piano
