    I’ve always wanted one of those plants but they cost $50 at my local nursery... maybe I’ll try propagating from seed next season!

    The first flower in first picture is the Passiflora Caerulea it has thinner leaves then the on your presenting. Passion flower and passion vine Maypop are different. There’s so many different varieties. I love these flowers. Love the plant Blue Passion Flower aka Bahama Blue in first photo.

    Do we need to start the seed in a pot first, or it can go straight to the ground?

    • @EdenMakers

      Hi and thanks for watching! You can pot them up with seedling mix in containers then plant out your seedlings when they are about eight inches high. Here is some more information for you:

    Will Passion Fruit flowers attract butterflies? ...when does this Passion fruit ready to eat (Summer or Winter)?
    Thank you!

    • @EdenMakers
      @EdenMakers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Yes it attracts all pollinators! They are ready to eat at the end of summer into fall for purple vines and may be through winter for the yellow form! Hope that helps!

      First flower is Bahama Blue Passiflora Caerulea picture of first flower yes Gulf Fritillary Butterflies. They lay their eggs and eat the leaves, but all butterflies or pollinators will drink nectar out of all varieties of flowers.

    Some passionflower vines are hardy. We have maypop passion flower vines that grow wild here in KY. I used to have one growing down my chain link fence. You don't have to bring these in just cut them back after frost and they come back the next year. The Red ones are the tropical ones that need to be brought in.

    how long generally it takes for the seed to germinate the seeds?
    I have kept the seeds for a week now in cocopeat, I keep it wet and daily keep it in sunlight to make dure that it remains hot and humid.

    • @EdenMakers
      @EdenMakers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Devendra, Thanks for watching! Some seeds germinate within two to three weeks, and some as long as four. Other seeds will take up to four months to sprout.

    Does all varieties of passion fruit taste similar? Or any difference in their taste??pls rply

    • @EdenMakers
      @EdenMakers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tom. Different varieties of passion fruit not only taste different, but they may also have a different texture. Most common in USA is pasiflora edulis- what you find at market. I had the pleasure of discovering a pasiflora granadilla (orange outside, red inside) was very sweet

    Hy Shirley, i'm Mark from Belgium where we doesn't have a tropical climate but i've succeeded in growing a passiflora from seed. My plant is about 1,5y old but hasn't flowering yet! Should i have two plants to have flowers?

    • @EdenMakers
      @EdenMakers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Passionfruit are self-fertile, so there is no need to have two vines. It may be too immature to flower.
