    Thanks for another good Video!
I use one in conjunction with the vinyl styl record cleaner (basically a spin clean, but WAY better, mainly due to the label protection/spinning gear and the built in drying rack). I give the LP a bath, remove 1/2 the label protector and because I have normal to large hands, I can support the LP from the axel of the remaining half of the protector and the LP edge. I then turn on my little Milwaukee cordless vac and I can vacuum the water away without setting the LP down on anything. The Vinyl Vac's suction will hold the LP while I rotate it with one hand. I've been doing this set-up for about 3 years with great results. The whole process takes about 2 minutes per album.
    Spin on you crazy diamonds!

Little disappointed you didn't do a before and after of any audio improvements. Thanks for the run through though.

I purchased one last year, I used it a good bit when I first got it, but slowly went back to my Spin Clean. Not because the Vac is bad, I actually thought it did a great job, just because of having to lug out my shop vac everytime. And I love to clean my records while listening to my music, it's kinda hard to do with a vacuum going. But overall good product.

Yeah, all that set up was definitely a negative for me. One of my favorite things to do is listen to music while I’m cleaning records, and that’s pretty hard to do when a vacuum is running.

Vinyl vac works great for what it is.
I put my shop vac in an old cooler and drilled holes for the power cable and hose, cuts down on the sound tremendously!
Just a thought but it might get more fluid off closer to the label if you take the label protector off first. They added a felt o ring so there's an uneven lift with the label protector still on.

Gotcha, I’ll have to try that next time.

Use a painting edger to clean it. Then use a foam brush dipped in distilled water to remove solution, then vacuum.

I was a little skeptical at first, but it does a really good job.

As mentioned, you need to take off the label protector before vacuuming. Although not as good as ultrasonic, vacuuming will still clean better than just the groovewasher. The vinyl vac "system" is the same thing as the $300-500 all-in-one vac machines...it's just not as convenient. I couldn't even see paying $30 for a tube though, so I made my own. For most that don't want to diy the vinyl vac is a good pre-made choice. You still need a wetvac, some kind of turntable, and other needed accessories. A paint pad will work better than that brush. I wouldn't bother with their cleaning solution either; a $30 bottle of Tergikleen will make 30 gallons of cleaner. Or you can also make your own for even less.

Yeah, there’s definitely a lot of DIY ways to reduce some of the cost associated with cleaning records. The Vinyl Vac is really simple but I was surprised how well it worked.

You are absolutely right. I wasn't going to pay about £28 for a few inches of plastic tube. I made a wand from an offcut of pipe, glued a wine cork in the end, and a couple of strips of scrap velvet either side of the slot. took about 20 minutes with a drill and Dremel. Already had a wet/dry vac, so the whole thing cost under £1 - ok, say £1.10 if you include glue, and a few inches of gaffer tape. Got a dead turntable for £2, so the whole thing was about £3 - £4 at most. Homemade cleaning fluid (distilled water, isopropanol and a few drops of Ilfotol) works out about £4 a litre. Have now cleaned over 1300 records using his with great results. Don't be ripped off!

You didn't really follow those instructions you mentioned did you?😏

  • @ironmaiden3812

First of all I would not want water or cleaning solution anywhere near my turntable! Secondly, that plastic tube looks like it’s worth a few bucks and they want $45? Seriously, PVC pipe is cheap. Next, if I was looking to purchase a wet vac it wouldn’t be for my turntable. Put that $45 towards a Spin Clean.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t use any kind of liquid on my turntable (I used one I don’t use in the demo). I’ve seen DIY instructions online for similar products.

Use a thrift store turntable. You get more then a pvc pipe for $45.
