I like the shirt method even though i have already bonded with my chinchilla and had already had him for a year and he likes it even though we are already bonded
I'm going to get a chinchilla for my birthday whitch is in a few months, I have been thinking of getting a chinchilla for years and this channel has helped me so much!
I love these videos they are so helpful! My chinchilla is NOT bonded with me and I’m afraid that it’s cuz I have to grab him to take him out for playtime but it’s cool!
I've had my chinchillas for close to a month. A Homo Beige, named Zen and a standard dark grey, named Diego. Your videos have helped me so much, Zen will even crawl up on my shoulder and sometimes let me pet him, I still have some work to do with Diego but thank you so much 💜
I’m getting a chinchilla in a few days your videos have really helped me learn a lot about chinchilla’s and illl be sure to remember all the information you have Taught me and I’ll be sure use these tips!
I have adored chinchillas most of my life and last week for my birthday my husband surprised me with a 4 month old female chinchilla! He bought everything for her too( lucky girl has the same sized cage you have). Thank you for sharing such valuable information💖
I’m getting a chinchilla next week and today we just sorted out the air conditioning (I’m from the UK so we don’t have it built in because it apparently does not get hot enough to have it!!! But we get 100°F summers now!?!) I made some platforms the other day but the Wood was treated so I put fleece on them so it could not chew them. My Nan is making a hanging house for it. If it’s a girl I’m gonna call it April and if it’s a boy I’m going to call it Arlo
So I am going to be getting my chinchilla soon and I wanted to know if you would recommend using soap and water in a bucket and soaking the fleece liner to clean it if you are not able to put it in the washing machine and then take another bucket of plain water and rinsing it thoroughly and letting it dry. I would just put in the washing machine but I am not allowed to do that so I'm having to think of other ways to be able to clean the fleece liner because I really want to use fleece liners since they seem like one of the easiest bedding types to use.
I adopted 2 chinchillas 1 month ago and I am still trying to bond with them. They come and sit on my lab when I let them out for playtime but I still can't pick them up. Maybe its because I'm scared to hurt them but they are just so fast and i can't catch them. So any advice on picking up a chinchilla?
Scoop from both sides of the chin. Support underneath and the belly then pulling the chin close to you. As long as you dont squeeze their ribcage or actually dont squeeze any part of them you will be fine. I try to keep a firm grip on the chin while still not squeezing.
Hi The Chinchilla Notebook!! I recently just got a chinchilla earlier today and it is currently in a rabbit cage. Don’t worry he’s only 6 months old, but PetSmart didn’t have any chinchilla cages. I love your cages you have your chinchillas in. Could you please reply and tell me where you got your cage!?
I was wondering how you would get the chinchilla into the bathtub? My previous chin hated being handled and the only way I could move him to another area was by waiting for him to get into his dust bath and moving the bath. Is there an easier way to move a chinchilla especially when you just got them?
Hi I’m a new chinchilla owner and I was just wondering when you let your chinchilla out do you change the lighting so they have more energy cause it’s darker
Louis123churchill123 hi I have a chinchilla and it’s definitely not necessary to dim the lights because they will run and jump around fine with light :)
juliam 2626 I have a Felix and Fido wheel and a chin sprint from exotic nutrition. They both work really well, but the chin sprint is a lot quieter. It’s about 20 dollars more on amazon, but it’s the same price as the Felix and Fido wheel of you order directly from exotic nutrition. But I’m not sure about the shipping cost, I got both from amazon
Is it okay to keep your chinchilla alone for a few months when you first get them so that you can have time to bond with each instead having to worry about bonding with two chins at the same time? It would only be temporarily ( like a few months) and then I would get another one.
That's fine. Just make sure you spend lots of time bonding and socializing each day. If your chin is comfortable with it, you should dedicate at least an hour a day, but strive for about 3. She has a video about keeping lone chins, so I recommend you watch that.
Thank you for helping me out! I have another question about ledges in the comments if you know the answer to that one, I would love to know so I can decide what to do!
My chinchilla is very shy and scared but he has his loving moments. I've had him for 5 months and we are still bonding. What worked for me is I put my hand in his favorite spot to sleep and he got used to sleeping on it. Like when he catches the moment I put my hand in there, he immediately sits on it. I sometimes stay like that for up to an hour, but it's worth it.
hi i have a question and i hope you respond because i really need to know an answer lol. i’m getting a chinchilla in a few days and his cage is close to a tv, do chinchillas get scared from the sound of the tv when it’s on? if they get scared by the sound of a tv i would like to move his cage :)
Not sure if you knew this or not. But ima say it anyway, to help with bonding, it would be good to start switching cages. The scent will help them both get use to eachother without causing any harm. After a while of that, put the cages right next to eachother and keep switching. Then playtime and once u are comfortable with them being together let them share the cage. Just saying this to you or anyone who needs advice that may help on bonding the 2 together
Just got a new chinchilla lessbthan a week ago. Haven't tried to pick him up yet. We just lay our arms in his cage and let him jump all over them. He is starting to come to our shoulders now. Is it OK to try and pick him up to bring him out of the cage for play time or will that scare him? So far he doesn't really seem to want to be picked if it's not on his terms
Yay you posted i wanted to ask since chinchilla's Need quiet can i put it in my room?my room is the only quiet place and where my cat doesn't come an also do we need fleece for the chinchillas is it really had to have it
Putting it in your room should be fine. Mine is in my room and i have no issues. As long as its nice and cool it should be fine. You don't need fleece but it is the recommended and cheapest form of bedding. You could use pine or apsen shavings as bedding but it tends to get messy and also expensive to buy. Fleece is probably the best way to go and you can find nice prices of etsy
Hello! This isn't on topic to the video but I had a question! I adopted a lovely chinchilla from a standard pet store about a month ago, and I don't know her age!! I only know that she was in the store for 6 months because nobody would adopt her (makes me very sad because she is a sweetheart). Do you happen to know what age they are when they are in pet stores so that I can guess her age? I would go to a vet to find out her age so that she can also have a checkup, but that's hard due to covid. Thank you!:)
My chinchilla was the most loving and attached little dude, we hung out a lot and he loved to be held or petted, unfortunately I came home yesterday to him passed away 😕, RIP Echo
Hi! I love your channel and I'm thinking about getting a chinchilla of my own, and from other articles that I have read several times that you need to get at least two to be together because they can die of loneliness. Is this true, and if it is, is there something I could do for it not to be lonely without getting another chinchilla?

Hello TCN , my name is Chloe and I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and so on. I just got my first baby chinchilla of 7 months and wanted to ask about this treat I was recommended from an exotic pet store there called dried roses and buds, what is your opinion on it hun I like to know.
Dried rosehips are a good treat for them (be sure to halve them and remove the fluff before giving them, not all chins discard it and it can cause choking), as with any treat moderation is key. I buy hay that has rose or dandelion in for my 2 boys (vet approved) and they love hunting through to find the added extras,
for the playtime bonding, for pairs, would you bring both of them out at once or one playtime per one chinchilla? I tried having playtime with my bonded pair and they just stayed together mainly away from me (they're more timid)
I don’t know what happened but when I first got my chin he lost some hair (not a lot tho it was in some places) and after a couple months it stoped me and him had a bond but now he is kinda acting like he doesn’t know me and bite me a lot and loses a lot of hair I normally leave every weekend to go with my dad so I’m not sure if he is mad at me for leaving him with my family or what it is
My schools rescue got a chinchilla and my teacher gave me the special mission of bonding with our chichi. He eats out of my hand (so yah :D) and let's me pet him as long as I don't swoop above him.
I’ve had my chinchillas for...probably almost 3 years now and one of them is the sweetest thing ever and the other became very mean during his “teen” months but he hasn’t grown out of it like the rescue said he probably would...ive kind of just let him do his thing (of course letting them run around for playtime, and giving them treats and such) but does anyone have specific tips for mean/biting chinchillas? (He’s also very protective of the nice one)
@@thatonedeadyoutubechannel8599 Honestly I just told her what they are and said i'd pay for everything and proved that to her. Just address and concerns they may have with having one in the house and prove that you can take care fo one since they do take a little more attention than a rabbit or guinea pig.
I got a chinchilla and it’s time to start bonding. I have a carrier to take him to the bathroom, but how should I get him out? Should I grab him or coax him into the carrier? Please someone respond I need to start the process.
It’s best to coax them in or lure them using a treat or something. But if that’s not working and you have to, you can try to gently pick them up and move them to the carrier💕
Unless you mean around the room not on a leash that is not a good idea. Chinchillas have extremely delicate rib cages that are very thin and breakable. This makes any type of restrictions around their middle extremely dangerous, including any type of harness
juliam 2626 a great alternative is the “pandamonium” i believe its called. It’s on etsy for about 25 dollars. The silent spinner is a little more expensive but they work just as great as the chin spins. (From what ive heard anyways!)
