I said it before - EVGA is a beloved nVidia brand card. You can't buy them new anymore since they left the AIB program. Folks are most likely repairing them to keep as momentos or collectibles. 👍👍
I had an EVGA 3070 Ti, I copper modded the memory, and it worked excellently, I sold it to a friend and he amazed about it cooling capabilities shame they don’t make them anymore
The 1080TI was good value for money, and arguably one of the best GPU's of all time. The 2080TI is not. It was no better in most applications, and didn't even do raytracing good, something it was supposed to. A Bad product in just about every way.
Its not about whether it's still a viable card. It's whether or not it costs more to repair than to find a similar model used. It costs $100 just to get the card on the bench, then add diagnostic time, repair time and parts.
hello, i paid £1300 for my MSI rtx2080ti some years ago, and it's still playing the latest games with ease, and with the way nvidia, just dropped the price with there new cards, just after the release of this card, there is no way or reason to update it, and it be a waist of money to move to something new updating it, as it be overkill, It's still going strong and unlike there new ones, the power points don't strip off
Love your channel. I want to repair my 780ti just to say I did it. It might have a cracked solder on the gou because it won't recognize the gpu but I get 1 monitor.
Hi, I've watched quite a bit of your videos and I like how you work and explain things. You've mentioned that you like using low melt solder and was wondering what your thoughts would be about it being as effective on multi-layered, high current pcbs. I've had some "people" tell me that it wouldn't and since I don't have access to getting those type of pcbs to try it out myself, I thought I would ask what your opinion would be.
Hi Alex from Melbourne, Australia. Been wondering how your new house has been going since you moved in? Are you happy with it. Congrats by the way 🎉 happy 2025
Hey. Having a setup that works for you and maintaining it rather than trashing and starting all over for big $$$ to get something not that much better if at all... That's a good thing in my book.
@bloodedge why no one buy strix 😅 i had 1080ti 2080 4080 so far soo good maybe evga better than strix but lot of problems i see 😅 died right after warranty expired lol and look strix cards always use better mps mosfet and better controllers not like evga mostly use ncp or sic fails over time
Hi I am from India, I have small confusion macbook A1466 which is after switch on screen on and off condition ton stable what is the cause this scenario, pls reply me back . Waiting for your reply Sir ,
I still have a 1080Ti OC 11GB card. It works like new. Even though I don't use that PC too much now. I have a laptop with a gen8 i7 with replaceable graphics card. About the same gaming experience.
"do not argue with the customers" is the most North Ridge Fix thing to say

Exactly, I miss this brand. I'm still rocking my old EVGA RTX 2070 Super in my secondary machine
I had an EVGA 3070 Ti, I copper modded the memory, and it worked excellently, I sold it to a friend and he amazed about it cooling capabilities shame they don’t make them anymore
Evga is mostly loved because of their RMA process. Not necessarly because of the cards themselves.. js..
@@phazonclash Same here. Same card! Plays at 1080p no problem.
My first thought when I saw the title was "why would anyone spend the money to fix a 2080 anymore" and its the first thing you said in the video.
I love how Alex shows us entertaining repairs and also gives relevant and thoughtful life tips
Funny how the cap did the fuses job 😮
Still a good 1080p card. Also it being EVGA has some sentimental value.
My 2080S works great on 1440p aswell.
Good job mate 👏
Here in Canada, Newegg has the 2080 Ti listed for $1,200 CAD REFURBISHED !
0:04 makes me wonder your repair price. Too early for a 2080 ti to go to e-waste. Even a 1080 ti is still capable.

Even 1060 6gb is still enough for some gamers.
💀
Exactly, still a pretty decent card.

Why would anybody want to fix their broken GPU? Have you seen the latest prices on graphics cards?
Alex, you _Rock_ , man! 👍
you can feel the tension waiting for the card to boot,,,,,,,,,,,,, thx for posting
Watching from Uganda
Good job 🏆
Love the shirt. Hope you bought it in NZ. Bay of Islands is a beautiful part of my home country.
I learn much from your videos,Thanks for sharing knowledge ❤❤❤🎉
that's an amazing card even today, worth to repair it in my opinion.
Akhi where did you learn all this

agree, it still outperforms my 4060 TI in a lot of things
😮
Dear sir, hope by pass cap is replaced.
It replaced on the very end of the video, watch it again, 8 second before the end
Maybe that's the only Graphics Card he currently owns?
u said its not worth it....why? how much did u charge him?
💀
Just for repaired attempted fee you can buy a used 1660s
@@ariewijaya1679 But a working 2080 TI is twice the card that a 1660 is
1300usd
How did you know that the cap was a bypass cap?
Either by experience or he already check his database of digital schematics.
A 2080 is still great for 1080p gaming, i also still use one of these.

😮
Only reason i see why he wants to repair it because the Founders Edition
what does the capacitor do? those cards cost $400 aud second hand so if the repair was less than that he saved money i suppose
A bypass capacitor stabilizes the input voltage and prevents noise from entering the system by bypassing it to ground.

2080ti is a classic, just like 1080ti:)

I see lot evga repairs is that brand that good? 🤔i see less rog strix cards so figure it out which one is good 😅
A lot of people bought EVGA, probably why. If no one buy a product, then of course you wont see it in a repair shop loll.

Better than Factory 🙂
👌👌👏👏👍👍
I can not get enough of this knowledge!!! You should be a professor!!!
These videos kinda have a hollywood feel to them lately! Lol 😆
❤
Oh baby
I would take a 2080 over most of the current cards.
From an environmental perspective it is always perfekt to let equipment be fixed 😍
Anyone who installs water cooling in their PC gets no sympathy from me
ITS for advanced users. Always has a risk
@rodrigobrasilia7506 Advanced users 😂. Why change the stock cooling solution? Answer: Just for fun.
